Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of planting distance and liquid fertilizer dosage on the growth and production of shallots (Allium ascalonicum L). This study examines the effect of a combination of planting distance and dosage of liquid organic fertilizer based on animal waste on the growth and production of shallots (Allium spp.). The study was conducted using a factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with two main factors, namely planting distance (D1: 20 × 20 cm, D2: 15 × 20 cm, D3: 10 × 20 cm) and dosage of liquid organic fertilizer (J0: control, J1: 250 ml/liter of water, J2: 500 ml/liter of water, J3: 750 ml/liter of water). The variables observed included plant height, number of leaves, bulb weight per plant, and bulb weight per plot. The results showed that increasing fertilizer dosage and wider planting distance significantly increased plant growth and production. ANOVA showed that planting distance and fertilizer dose had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, tuber weight per plant, and tuber weight per plot, but the interaction between the two factors was not significant. Application of high dose fertilizer (750 ml/liter) and wider planting distance (20 × 20 cm) resulted in optimal growth in all variables.

Abstract

Eggplant production in Indonesia is still low and only accounts for 1% of the world's needs, this is because the cultivation culture is still not intensive. Infertile soil is also a factor in low eggplant production. In order for growth to be good, it must look at the ideal growing conditions and nutrients in the soil. This study aims to determine the optimal concentration of liquid organic fertilizer in increasing the growth and production of purple eggplant plants. The research design applied is a non-factorial Randomized Group Design (RGD) consisting of 1 factor, namely Liquid Organic Fertilizer, with 4 experimental levels, namely P0 (0 ml /l water), P1 (50 ml /l water), P2 (100 ml /l water), P3 (150 ml /l water). The results showed that the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer had a very significant effect on all variables observed, except the number of fruits, fruit weight and production weight were not significantly different. LOF treatment with a concentration of 150 ml/l water gave the best results on the parameters of plant height, stem diameter, number of flowers, number of fruits, fruit length, fruit weight, production weight and production ha/ton

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana strategi pengembangannya Urban Farming untuk mencegah  mitigasi perubahan iklim di Kecamatan Medan Timur. Metode analisis data menggunakan analisis SWOT. Dari hasil analisis SWOT untuk strategi pengembangan maka harus adanya kerja sama antara pemerintah dan para petani agar subsektor tanaman pangan dan hortikultura. Peningkatan nilai tambah dan daya saing hasil pertanian perkotaan terutama secara organik demi mitigasi perubahan iklim., Meningkatkan potensi SDM melalui penyuluhan pertanian perkotaan yang ada di Kecamatan ,  fungsi informasi pasar, Pemberdayaan kelompok tani, dengan pelatihan terkait pertanian urban farming dan pemasaran. Latar belakang: Fenomena perubahan iklim merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi terhadap produksi pertanian pada umumnya. Isu mengenai perubahan iklim (climate change) menjadi popular pada saat memasuki abad ke -21, akibat adanya perubahan iklim dapat memberikan dampak negatif bagi sistem fisik, biologis, ekologi lingkungan maupun pembangunan sosial ekonomi dimasa yang akan datang. Metode: Analisis SWOT Hasil: Dari hasil analisis SWOT untuk strategi pengembangan maka harus adanya kerja sama antara pemerintah dan para petani agar subsektor tanaman pangan dan hortikultura. Abstract

The leaves, fruits, and roots of papaya (Carica papaya L) are mostly used as traditional medicine. Papaya leaves are used by the community to treat diarrhoea, acne, appetite, and digestive problems. Papaya leaf extract has potential as an antioxidant derived from secondary metabolites, namely alkaloid compounds that produce a bitter taste in papaya leaves. This study was conducted to look at antioxidant compounds by conducting antioxidant activity tests. The results of papaya leaf research contain active compounds flavonoids, alkaloids, and steroids. Research conducted on the level of colour brightness in papaya leaves is different, namely 10 ppm, 25 ppm, 50 ppm, 75 ppm and 100 ppm. Papaya leaf extract has a power that is included in the strong category with the IC50 value obtained 8.71 marked by the results of calculations less than 100. Antioxidant activity testing using the DPPH method papaya leaf extract positively contains antioxidant compounds and can be utilised as a natural antioxidant.

Abstract

Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is a widely recognized food source among all segments of society. It has become one of the most favored dishes across various groups. The demand for purple eggplant continues to rise; however, this increase in demand is not accompanied by a corresponding rise in production levels. The Factorial Randomized Block Design with two factors and three replications is used in this study. The observation parameters in this study include stem diameter (mm), plant height (cm), fruit length (cm), number of fruits per planting (fruits), number of fruits per plot (fruits), weight of fruits per planting (g), and weight of fruits per plot. The study's findings demonstrated that using fertilizer made from chicken manure significantly impacted the following parameters: fruit length (cm) in the K3 treatment were 20.09 cm and the S3 treatment of pineaple peel waste were 18.83 cm, fruit weight per plant (g) in the K3 treatment were 782.11 g, and S3 treatment were 735.86 g and had no discernible impact on the following parameters: fruit weight per plot (g) in the K3 treatment of chicken manure fertiliser were 781.27 g and the S3 treatment of pineapple peel waste were 7.14 g; number of fruits per plant (fruit) in the K3 treatment of chicken manure fertiliser were 7.46 fruit and the S3 treatment of pineapple skin waste were 7.18 fruit. There is no effect of pineapple peel waste LOF on all parameters

Abstract

The yard of the house is one of the identities of a house. Yard land can be used for various purposes. In addition to beautifying the house, the yard can be used as a living pharmacy and nutrition garden. This service activity aims to educate and motivate the community to manage their yards effectively and efficiently, create a productive environment, and improve food security and the local economy. This method of service uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. This activity collaborates between the community and the service team of lecturers/students, where they must respect the leading role of the community. Lecturers/students and the community must work hand in hand in a participatory manner to make social change. The results of this service research show that the socialization of planting cayenne pepper plants in the yard can effectively improve community welfare and food security at the village level.

Abstract

Purple eggplant is an important vegetable crop in various cuisines, and the market demand for this crop is quite high. Fertilization is done as an effort to meet the needs of plants so that production goals can be achieved. This research was conducted at the office land of Pulo Brayan Bengkel Baru Urban Village, East Medan District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra with an altitude of ± 500 meters above sea level. This study used a Factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK) pattern. The treatment factor used in the study was the application of MOL bonggol pisang and POC rice washing water consisting of 4 levels of treatment and 3 repetitions. The first factor of MOL bonggol pisang is P0 = No Giving, P1 = 200 ml / water, P2 = 400 ml / water, P3 = 600 ml / water. The second factor is rice washing water POC, namely A0 = No Application, A1 = 150 ml / water, A2 = 300 ml / water, A3 = 450 ml / water. Observations of parameters in this study were plant height, number of productive branches, number of fruits, fruit weight per plant and fruit weight per plot. From this design, 16 treatment combinations were obtained and 3 repetitions were carried out, so that 48 experimental units were obtained in the study. The results showed that the treatment of MOL banana pomace strongly influenced all research parameters, the optimal concentration of MOL banana pomace was 400 ml / water. POC rice washing water is very influential on all research parameters, the optimal concentration of POC rice washing water is 450 ml / water. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of banana stem moles and washing water POC on the growth and production of purple eggplant plants.

Abstract

Sambiloto merupakan salah satu tanaman obat yang memiliki banyak manfaat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian pupuk organik cair kulit bawang merah dan pupuk cair kotoran kambing pada pertumbuhan stek sambiloto. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari 2024 sampai Maret 2024 di lahan penelitian Universitas Pembangunan Panca Budi di dusun 3 Desa Sampe Cita, Kecamatan Kutalimbaru, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemberian pupuk organik cair kulit bawang merah dan pupuk cair kotoran kambing berpengaruh berbeda nyata pada semua parameter yaitu umur bertunas, jumlah tunas, panjang tunas, diameter tunas, jumlah daun, panjang akar, berat basah dan berat kering namun interaksi antara kedua perlakuan tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap semua parameter.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kelayakan finansial usaha “Cakar Ayam” dari ubi jalar sebagai salah satu inovasi olahan lokal berbasis agribisnis yang potensial dikembangkan di sektor UMKM pangan. Ubi jalar (Ipomoea batatas) merupakan komoditas pertanian yang melimpah di berbagai daerah di Indonesia, namun pemanfaatannya masih terbatas pada bentuk konsumsi konvensional. Inovasi produk olahan berupa “Cakar Ayam”, yakni camilan berbentuk kaki ayam yang dibuat dari adonan ubi jalar, menjadi alternatif usaha kreatif bernilai ekonomis tinggi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kelayakan usaha dengan pendekatan analisis finansial, meliputi estimasi biaya investasi awal, biaya operasional, pendapatan, serta indikator kelayakan seperti Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period (PP), dan Benefit Cost Ratio (B/C Ratio). Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara pelaku usaha kecil, dan simulasi skenario keuangan selama 5 tahun operasional usaha. Usaha pengolahan ubi jalar menjadi cemilan “cakar ayam” memiliki potensi besar dalam meningkatkan pendapatan rumah tangga skala kecil. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Binjai Selatan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa dengan kapasitas produksi 100 bungkus per hari dan harga jual Rp10.000 per bungkus, usaha ini mampu menghasilkan pendapatan sebesar Rp25.000.000 per bulan dengan laba bersih Rp12.125.000. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa usaha ini sangat layak secara finansial dengan margin laba mencapai 48,5%. Temuan ini mendukung pentingnya pengembangan agribisnis olahan berbasis sumber daya lokal seperti ubi jalar dalam rangka diversifikasi pangan dan peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat.

Abstract

Budidaya melon di greenhouse merupakan strategi agribisnis hortikultura yang potensial dalam meningkatkan pendapatan petani. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi potensi finansial budidaya melon (Cucumis melo L.) dalam sistem greenhouse di Desa Sendang Rejo, Kota Binjai, sebagai salah satu alternatif pengembangan agribisnis hortikultura yang berkelanjutan dan berdaya saing tinggi. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasari oleh tingginya permintaan pasar terhadap buah melon berkualitas serta terbatasnya lahan produktif akibat alih fungsi lahan di daerah perkotaan dan peri-urban. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan studi kelayakan finansial dengan analisis biaya dan manfaat (Cost-Benefit Analysis) serta proyeksi keuangan selama satu siklus produksi (4 bulan). Data primer diperoleh melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara petani dan pelaku agribisnis lokal, serta studi dokumentasi terhadap hasil panen dan pemasaran melon greenhouse. Indikator yang dianalisis mencakup nilai Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period (PP), dan Benefit Cost Ratio (B/C Ratio). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melon jenis Miranti Gold yang dibudidayakan menghasilkan buah dengan bobot mencapai 2 kg dan dijual seharga Rp25.000/kg, menunjukkan potensi ekonomi yang tinggi. Pemanfaatan nutrisi hidroponik dan strategi pemasaran digital mendukung efisiensi produksi. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa budidaya melon di greenhouse layak dikembangkan sebagai model agribisnis hortikultura modern yang efisien dan menguntungkan. Potensi ini menunjukkan bahwa teknologi greenhouse dapat menjadi solusi strategis dalam meningkatkan pendapatan petani serta ketahanan pangan lokal, khususnya di kawasan penyangga kota seperti Binjai.
