Abstract

Individuals frequently seek information and then share that information. The research looks into the dynamics of these two behaviors on the social networking site Facebook. The study included 260 students, the average age of whom was 20. The Information Seeking in Facebook Scale (ISFS) categorizes information seeking behavior on Facebook into five types: social searches, social browsing, hedonic productivity, consumer trends, and general erudition. Meanwhile, students' information-sharing behavior was examined based on the frequency with which they shared information links via the Facebook network in the previous three months. The data obtained was analyzed using logistic regression. As a result, it was discovered that social search and social browsing are important types of information searches to determine the likelihood of someone sharing information. The findings of this study contribute to the flow of searching and sharing information, which can change thought patterns and attitudes and create behavior in the general public, particularly students. Keyword: Information search, information, Facebook, Information Search at Facebook Scale (ISFS)

Abstract

The internet has become essential to people of all ages, particularly teenagers, to access information, education, and entertainment. Studying adolescents' well-being has become a hot topic lately, with digital technology and the internet as part of everyday life. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of gender in moderating the relationship between parental and peer relationships with adolescent well-being. Participants in this study were 749 internet user adolescents from various regions in Indonesia, who were selected using convenient sampling techniques. Data was collected online using the EPOCH measure for adolescent well-being, parent-adolescent relationship scales, and friendship quality scales. The results of the hierarchical linear modelling indicate that there is a positive correlation between parent and peer relationships, and adolescent well-being. The findings indicate that the relationship between the two variables is more pronounced among the male population than the female population.

Abstract

This study aims to see how the work ethic of teachers who teach in state schools differs from teachers in private schools at SMA N 2 Lengayang and SMK Technology Lengayang. This study uses quantitative methods with a comparative quantitative design. The population in this study is teachers in state schools and teachers in private schools. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive sampling technique. This study has a sample of 60 teachers with details of 30 samples coming from SMA N 2 Lengayang and 30 samples from SMK Technology Lengayang. The instrument used in this study is the work ethic scale developed by Ngalia (2011) with a total of 27 items. This instrument is based on aspects of the work ethic from Cherrington (1980) which has 3 aspects including: work as a moral obligation, high work discipline, and pride in the results of work. Analysis result using independent sample t-test. The results of the data analysis test show that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted with a significance value (2-tailed) of 0,048 < 0,05 which means that there is a difference in the work ethic of teachers who teach in state schools and teachers in private schools, where teachers in private schools have a higher work ethic.

Abstract

The use of the internet and digital devices has become an important part of teenagers' daily lives, raising concerns about the increasing phenomenon of online gaming addiction. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-control and online gaming addiction among junior high school students in Padang. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design and involves 125 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Game Addiction Scale (reliability = 0.851) and the Self-Control Scale (reliability = 0.793). Data analysis was performed using Pearson's product-moment correlation technique with the help of the SPSS 20 for Windows program. The results showed a significant positive correlation between self-control and online game addiction (r = 0.483; p < 0.05). These findings indicate that adolescents with high levels of self-control also show a high tendency toward online gaming behavior, meaning that self-control in the context of adolescence does not always function as a protective factor but can be adaptive to social and digital environmental pressures.

Abstract

Implementation is the process of carrying out, applying, or realizing a plan, idea, policy, standard, or concept into concrete actions that produce specific impacts or objectives. The implementation of Islamic values in learning at MTs Al Islam. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was obtained through observation, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of learning activities. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Islamic values is carried out through several strategies. First, instilling faith values through the habituation of worship, such as congregational prayer, Quran recitation, and prayer before and after learning activities. Second, strengthening moral values through teacher role models, fostering politeness, discipline, and respect for parents and teachers. Third, integrating Islamic values into every subject, where teachers link subject matter to Islamic teachings, both in science and social sciences. Fourth, creating a religious environment through the practice of greetings, commemorating Islamic holidays, and Islamic-themed extracurricular activities. The results of this study conclude that MTs Al Islam has successfully implemented Islamic values in a structured and comprehensive manner, thus playing an important role in forming students who are not only academically superior, but also have an Islamic character.

Abstract

Environmental problems caused by suboptimal waste management have become a major issue in Nagari Batu Basa, particularly the habit of residents disposing of waste into rivers. This condition worsens during the dry season, as waste accumulation generates unpleasant odors and poses health risks, especially from plastic waste that is difficult to decompose and has even contributed to malaria cases among some community members. This community service activity aims to increase public awareness of integrated plastic waste management and to discourage residents from disposing of waste into rivers. The methods employed consist of four approaches. The first approach involves the provision of educational waste posts as an initial effort to prevent indiscriminate waste disposal. The second approach is the construction of an integrated plastic waste collection facility at the nagari office, equipped with dry waste sorting facilities. In addition, the community was provided with training on ecobrick production, which could be exchanged for incentives. The fourth approach applies a door-to-door collection method through the involvement of KKN students from Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), who collected waste that had been gathered by the community from shops, schools, and mosques. The results of the community service activities indicate positive community engagement, as evidenced by the successful production of 300 ecobricks by the community in collaboration with KKN UNP students, of which 260 were branded as Nagari Batu Basa ecobricks. This activity contributes significantly to building community awareness of household-level waste segregation and supports the creation of a healthier and more sustainable nagari environment.

Abstract

Sports can trigger a strong sense of national pride, a psychological factor that contributes positively to collective behavior and societal cohesion. One key source of this pride is the success of athletes in prestigious international competitions. With the growing use of the internet, expressions of national pride are increasingly visible on social media, particularly in the comment sections of content related to national achievements. Previous studies on sports and national pride have mainly relied on survey methods. This study takes a different approach by analyzing expressions of national pride among Indonesian netizens in YouTube comments related to the success of Indonesian athletes in international sporting events. A case study was conducted using videos covering Indonesian achievements at the Paris Olympics 2024 in weightlifting, badminton, and rock climbing. Data were collected from 12 YouTube news videos using Mozdeh, yielding 11,972 comments, of which 10,610 were analyzed after preprocessing. The study applied Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) to identify hidden topics, with the optimal number of topics determined as two based on coherence values. Term frequency–inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) was used for data representation. The results revealed two main themes: gratitude, reflecting thankfulness to God for achievements, and national pride, indicating public pride in Indonesia due to athletes’ success. These findings demonstrate that LDA effectively captures expressions of national pride in social media data and highlight the role of sports achievements in strengthening national pride online

Abstract

Social well-being is a part of subjective well-being used to measure mental health as a measurement of mental health, which is an indicator of quality of life. People can achieve social well-being when they have a good and deep quality relationship with others. However, people use technology almost daily, impairing their social well-being. Moreover, they also tend to do cyberloafing, which makes them spend more time on their gadget. This project's principal objective was to investigate cyberloafing's effect on cognitive absorption and social well-being. A quantitative method using three questionnaires (cognitive absorption scale, cyberloafing questionnaire, and social well-being) involving 178 respondents was employed. The data was analyzed using Mediation Analysis in JASP software. The findings indicated a partial mediation in cyberloafing on the relationship between cognitive absorption and cyberloafing.
