Abstract

Dating violence is a form of abuse in a relationship that can have harmful physical and psychological impacts on one partner. Gender inequality due to patriarchal culture, along with the sense of attachment that often develops in women, makes them more vulnerable to becoming victims of dating violence. Self-compassion, which focuses on being kind to yourself and accepting pain as part of the human experience, can be used as a mechanism to help people cope with the traumatic experiences caused by dating violence. This study aims to describe self-compassion in women who have experienced dating violence using a qualitative method and a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, and purposive sampling was used to select 5 female participants, all of whom were college students who had experienced dating violence. Data analysis was carried out using a coding technique to identify the main themes related to the participants' self-compassion after experiencing dating violence. The findings showed that 2 out of 5 participants exhibited positive self-compassion. This was shown in their ability to recover after experiencing dating violence, where they could show care and concern for themselves during the difficult post-breakup phase while also giving themselves the necessary positive affirmations. Furthermore, the participants initiated productive activities to improve their self-worth and confidence. This positive self-compassion played an important role in facilitating the psychological and emotional recovery from the inner wounds caused by the abusive relationship.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology is making it faster and more accessible for people worldwide to communicate and socialize. However, exposure to and use of online social media can harm wellbeing and psychosocial development, including mental health. This study investigates the relationship between perceived stress and digital wellbeing with social connectedness as a mediator variable. The research participants were recruited by convenience sampling, including 242 students and 100 workers. The regression analysis shows that the study's result implies that stress as a determinant of mental health has a mixed impact on overall digital wellbeing based on an individual's social connectedness. The findings of this study indicate potential long-term benefits or drawbacks in the debate regarding the use of digital media and technology in stressful situations for active users of digital media and technology, particularly among students.

Abstract

In the field of construction, particularly in geotechnical engineering, uncertainties in foundation design approaches are frequently encountered. Geotechnical uncertainties, especially in foundation design, pose complex challenges due to the heterogeneous nature of soil and data limitations. Dynamic load testing on pile foundations is an alternative method to static load testing in geotechnical engineering for evaluating pile capacity and behavior. The results of this analysis will be compared to the design capacity of pile foundations in the breasting dolphin structure. This study on a breasting dolphin structure utilizing Steel Pipe Pile (SPP) foundations with a diameter 610 mm. PDA tests were conducted on piles at points G6-23, G7-33, G7-38, and G8-46. The study begins with a literature review to comprehend methods and theories related to pile capacity analysis based on calendaring and PDA testing. Calendaring data were analyzed using empirical methods such as the Hiley Formula to estimate the dynamic bearing capacity of each pile. The pile capacity calculated using the Hiley Formula is generally higher than the results obtained from the Case Method and CAPWAP Analysis. The relationship between pile capacity based on the Hiley Formula (calendaring) and the Case Method (PDA test) yielded a linear regression equation of y = 1.0785x - 983.07 with R² = 0.2385, indicating a weak correlation. Meanwhile, the relationship between pile capacity from the Hiley Formula (calendaring) and CAPWAP Analysis (PDA test) resulted in a linear regression equation of y = -0.006x + 2909.8 with R² = 1×10?¹, indicating almost no linear correlation between the two.

Abstract

Women are a group that is vulnerable to becoming victims of the impacts of climate change, the availability of air to meet sanitation needs, disasters that can occur at any time, and secondary impacts from economic problems that may arise. This research illustrates how literacy can strengthen women, open their minds, change paradigms about the environment, and even move women to try to be active and independent in responding to the impacts of climate change. Using qualitative methods, researchers carried out inductive coding on the results of interviews with five people with the highest New Ecological Paradigm Scale scores from sixty-six subjects selected using the criteria of women aged 18-40 years who liked to read literacy in the form of novels by female writers from Indonesia. Word Frequency analysis found that five words had context and formed the theme of this research, namely women, nature, mothers, characters, and the environment. This research reveals how feminist ecopsychological literacy can change views, determine attitudes, and mobilize Indonesian women to be pro-environmental and independent in responding to climate change, which causes changes in the natural environment.
