Abstract

Dekomposisi serasah merupakan proses terjadinya penguraian terhadap bahan-bahan organik yang akan menjadi bagian-bagian kecil. Serasah mangrove berperan sebagai sumber nutrien di perairan pesisir. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui laju dekomposisi serasah antar jenis mangrove dan antar stasiun penelitian di kawasan Muara Sungai Banyuasin, Sumatera Selatan. Analisis laju dekomposisi serasah mangrove dengan menggunakan kantong serasah (litter bag). Penelitian dilakukan di empat stasiun yang dibedakan berdasarkan perbedaan parameter salinitas. Penelitian dilakukan dari Bulan November 2018 sampai Januari 2019. Laju dekomposisi serasah daun R. apiculata mencapai 0,0968 gbk/harii, dengan sisa bobot serasah akhir sebesar 1,43 g). Stasiun empat memiliki laju persentase dekomposisi yang paling tinggi (19,4 %).Kata kunci: Laju dekomposisi, mangrove, serasah.

Abstract

Pesisir Banyuasin merupakan salah satu kawasan yang memiliki potensi perikanan yang besar di ProvinsiSumatera Selatan. Hanya saja padatnya aktivitas lalu lintas kapal dan pertanian dapat menyebabkan perairan tercemar oleh logam berat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi logam Pb dan Cu pada rajungan yang tertangkap di Pesisir Banyuasin serta membandingkannya dengan baku mutu yang berlaku. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan di Pesisir Banyuasin menggunakan metode fishing survey. Sampel dianalisis dengan AAS sesuai SNI 2354.5:2011 untuk logam Pb dan SNI 2354.13:2014 untuk logam Cu. Hasil penelitian menunjukan konsentrasi logam Pb dan Cu di dalam daging rajungan berturut-turut sebesar 0,62–2,48 mg/kg Pb dan 2,5-11,6 mg/kg Cu. Berdasarkan baku mutu yang ditetapkan BPOM No.5 tahun 2018 dan SNI 7387:2009, konsentrasi logam Pb sudah melewati ambang batas, namun berdasarkan ketentuan FAO (1983) hanya pada stasiun 4 yang melebihi baku mutu. Konsentrasi logam Cu dalam daging rajungan masih dibawah baku mutu kecuali pada stasiun 5 yang melewati baku mutu FAO (1983).Kata Kunci : Cu, logam berat, Pb, Pesisir Banyuasin, rajungan

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan transfer pengetahuan tentang produk tepung udang berbasis sumber daya lokal sebagai alternatif penyedap rasa. Sasarannya adalah ibu-ibu usia produktif dengan anak usia prasekolah di Desa Sungsang IV. Metode sosialisasi, praktik langsung, pre-test, post-test, dan tes organoleptik diterapkan. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar peserta masih menggunakan perasa sintetis (86%) dan belum mengetahui produk alternatif pengganti perasa sintetis (80%). Semua peserta tertarik untuk mencoba dan menggunakan produk tepung udang ini. Hasil uji organoleptik menunjukkan bahwa ibu-ibu menyukai produk tepung udang ini (51% sangat menyukai dan 49% menyukai) sebagai alternatif penyedap rasa.

Abstract

Fish and some groups of shrimps and crabs are one of the economically important biota that live in the waters. Accumulation of heavy metals in fish can affect the economic value of marine fishery products. There are several types of fish that contain heavy metals and are harmful when consumed by humans. The purpose of this study was to determine the dominant bycatch fish species and the accumulation of heavy metals Pb and Cu in the bycatch of stationary lift net Pesisir Banyuasin. This study was conducted in November 2019 and the dominant bycatch included japuh fish (Dussumieria acuta), tembang fish (Sardinella fimbriata) and parang-parang fish (Chirocentrus dorab). Samples were taken from one stationary lift net then analysed using SSA (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry) with 3 repetitions. The results of the analysis found the average concentration of heavy metals Pb and Cu in japuh fish was 0.65 mg/kg Pb; 0.16 mg/kg Cu. In tembang fish 0.70 mg/kg Pb and 0.03 mg/kg Cu. The parang-parang fish was 0.50 mg/kg and 0.17 mg/kg Cu. Based on the quality standards of SNI, Directorate General of Food and Drug Administration and FAO, the Pb and Cu concentrations of the three types of by-catch fish are still below the quality standard threshold and safe for human consumption.

Abstract

Nutrien merupakan material kimia yang penting bagi kelangsungan hidup organisme perairan. Keberadaannya di kolom perairan dapat dijadikan sebagai penentu apakah perairan berada dalam kondisi subur atau tidak. Sumber nutrien di perairan dapat berasal dari aktivitas manusia seperti pemukiman dan pertanian yang terdapat di darat dan masuk ke kawasan muara melalui aliran sungai. Meskipun demikian, masuknya nutrien dalam jumlah besar dapat menurunkan kualitas perairan karena dapat memicu terjadinya eutrofikasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi nutrien di air dan sedimen serta TSS dan karakteristik sedimen di sekitar Perairan Pulau Payung. Pengambilan sampel dilaksanakan bulan September 2022 pada 5 stasiun penelitian, analisis nitrat dan fosfat pada sampel air mengacu pada metode brusin sulfat SNI 06-2480-1991 dan SNI 6989.31-2015. Analisis nitrat pada sedimen menggunakan metode bruan  dan  analisis fosfat  merujuk pada metode SNI 19-2483-1991. Analisis tekstur sedimen menggunakan metode ayak kering dan analisa TSS dengan metode penyaringan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan konsentrasi nitrat di kolom perairan Pulau Payung berkisar 1,7-2,8 mg/l (telah melebihi baku mutu, 0,008 mg/L berdasarkan Kepmen LH (2004) dan 0,07 mg/L berdasarkan US-EPA (1973), sementara fosfat berkisar 0,25-0,48 mg/l (tidak melebihi baku mutu 0,2 – 1,0 mg/L berdasarkan Kepmen LH PP RI No.22 Tahun 2021). Konsentrasi nitrat sedimen Pulau Payung berkisar 24,69-40,41 mg/kg (tergolong perairan dengan kandungan nitrat tinggi) dan fosfat berkisar 1,15-1,54 mg/kg (tergolong perairan dengan kandungan fosfat sangat rendah). Sedimen Pulau Payung sebagian besar didominasi substrat lempung dan sebagian kecil lempung berpasir. Adapun nilai TSS yang ditemukan berkisar antara 115,22 – 212,97 mg/l.

Abstract

Horseshoe crabs (HSC) are marine arthropods, which are protected in Indonesia. Understanding fishermen's perceptions of HSC's existence was very important for the decision-making of conservation planning and management. This research aimed to analyze local fishermen's perceptions toward HSC's existence and the factors influencing their perceptions. Questionnaire-based interviews were conducted with 92 fishermen from the Banyuasin coast, from August to September 2023. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multinomial logistic regression. The results revealed that most fishermen knew HSC and could distinguish their species. The survey of fishing practices showed that the vast majority of respondents operate one-day fishing with only few hours at sea (53.3%), conducting day time operation (69.6%), using 5-10 GT vessels (52.2 %), and deploying fishing gear at the sea bottom (85.9%). Based on fishermen's perception scores toward HSC existence through six assessment aspects, the majority of their perceptions were in the moderate category (54%), followed by the low (28.7%) and high (16.2%) categories. In terms of the regression output, the results of the likelihood ratio test indicated that education, setting position of gear, fishing operation time, and village location were explanatory variables that significantly influenced fishermen's perceptions. Abstract

The community knows Sungsang IV Village as one of the tourist destinations in Banyuasin Regency. Effective site plan signage helps visitors navigate the tourist area easily and provides important information about key locations such as tourist attractions, public facilities, and other important points. With an attractive and informative design, these site plan signs can be integral to village branding, creating a positive first impression for visitors. Community service aims to increase community knowledge about promotional icons through photo spots and location plans to improve the tourism sector in Sungsang IV Village, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. A field survey was conducted to find out the location of the photo spot and make a sign design given a map of the village location plan. The installation of the sign was carried out in collaboration with the local community. The installation of signs in Sungsang IV Village makes it easy for visitors to access the location and facilities in the tourist village. This activity also improves the identity and promotion of the tourism village, which supports the attraction of local tourism and is expected to impact the economic and social development of the community positively.

Abstract

Pengabdian terintegrasi dengan mata kuliah adalah upaya Universitas Sriwijaya untuk mengkolaborasi kegiatan pengabdian dengan mata kuliah yang relevan, agar tercipta harmonisasi antara kegiatan akademik dan pengabdian serta aplikasinya di masyarakat. Salah satu materi penting Mata kuliah Eksplorasi Sumberdaya Laut dan Estuari (ELSE) adalah pada usaha perikanan tangkap berpotensi tertangkapnya spesies yang dilindungi, salah satunya dolphin dan belangkas yang ada di wilayah periaran Banyuasin- Sumatera Selatan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkat kesadaran nelayan di Desa Sungsang dalam menjaga biota laut yang dilindungi yang ada di wilayahnya. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus-September 2023 di laboratorium ESAK Jurusan Ilmu kelautan Universitas Sriwijaya dan Desa Sungsang I, Kabupaten Banyuasin, Sumatera Selatan. Metode yang dilakukan adalah wawancara dan edukasi kepada nelayan. Mahasiswa didampingi asisten belajar membuat kuisioner saat praktikum mata kuliah ELSE di laboratorium dan mengaplikasikan hasil kuisioner kepada responden (Nelayan) di Desa Sungsang I. Metode Pre dan post test digunakan sebagai instrument evaluasi kegiatan pengabdian. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah terjadi peningkatan pemahaman nelayan dalam mengidentifikasi biota yang dilindungi yaitu belangkas dan dolphin (dari 88% menjadi 100%), dapat membedakan jenis kelamin biota (dari 60% menjadi 100%), terjadi peningkatan kesadaran nelayan bahwa dolphin dan belangkas adalah biota yang dilindungi (dari 60% menjadi 100%), terjadi peningkatan kesadaran nelayan untuk melepaskan dolphin dan belangkas yang terjerat jaring ke perairan (dari 60% menjadi 100%) dan membiarkan biota tersebut jika melewati kapal. Manfaat ganda dari kegiatan pengabdian terintegrasi ini adalah nelayan mendapatkan ilmu pengetahuan untuk melestarikan biota yang dilindungi dan mahasiswa dapat menerapkan ilmu yang didapat secara langsung di lapangan.

Abstract

Littoral zone often face environmental pressure due to anthropogenic activities, which can impact the quality of their ecosystem. This study analyzes the concentrations of copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) in sediments and benthic (Anadara granosa and Cerithidea cingulata). Sampling procedures were implemented during September 2022 across the aquatic habitats of Sembilang National Park, in South Sumatra Province, using the purposive sampling method. Sediment grain size and substrate type were analyzed using Shepard’s triangle. Metal detection using a spectrophotometric method based on atomic absorption. The results showed that the sediment fraction mostly consisted of clay, ranging from 92.03% to 94%. Cu concentrations in the sediment ranged from 5.01±0.017 to 5.71±0 mg/kg, while Pb concentrations ranged from 10.5±0.195 to 11.51±0.395 mg/kg. In the benthic, Cu concentrations ranged from 0.0037±0.00005773 to 0.0147±0.00000346 mg/kg, and Pb concentrations ranged from 0.0001±0.000227 to 0.005±0 mg/kg. According to the statistical evaluation testing via independent sample t-test showed that heavy metals differed significantly (p <0.05) between sediment and benthic compartments. These results show that the environmental quality in Sembilang National Park is still comparatively well maintained and within current quality requirements, despite certain activities that have the potential to pollute the environment. To guarantee the long-term viability of this area, it is advised that environmental quality be frequently monitored as a mitigation action.
