Abstract

Perairan Banyuasin terdiri dari beberapa wilayah seperti daerah pelayaran dan daerah konservasi. Topografi dasar laut di perairan ini dapat berubah akibat adanya pendangkalan oleh karena proses sedimentasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan topografi dasar laut dan jenis sedimen di perairan Banyuasin. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dari bulan Oktober 2020 sampai Februari 2021 di perairan Banyuasin, Kabupaten Banyuasin, Sumatera Selatan. Salah satu metode yang digunakan untuk mendeteksi objek bawah laut yaitu metode hidroakustik yang memanfaatkan gelombang suara dengan menggunakan alat single beam echosounder Simrad EK-15. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kedalaman terendah (0,6 meter) terletak di perairan Tanjung Carat, sedangkan kedalaman tertinggi terletak di daerah yang mendekati perbatasan laut teritorial Banyuasin (33 meter). Rata-rata kedalaman perairan Banyuasin adalah 9 meter. Selain itu juga diperoleh tiga jenis sedimen yaitu lempung, lempung berpasir, dan pasir berlempung. Jenis sedimen yang mendominasi adalah lempung. Pengukuran pasang surut untuk nilai ketinggian muka air laut rata-rata (MSL) adalah 1,3 meter dan nilai jarak muka surutan (Z0) adalah 1,16 meter. Penelitian ini memberikan informasi terbaru dari sebaran jenis sedimen dan batimeteri untuk aktivitas pelayaran dan wilayah konservasi di daerah penelitian.

Abstract

Abstract:  This community service activity aims to provide training and mentoring through Strengthening Visual Branding and Packaging Design to increase the competitiveness of MSME products in Sungsang Village. The method used is training and mentoring for MSMEs processing fishery products, focusing on crackers, pempek, and shrimp otak-otak. The activity stages include product identification, packaging technology training (education on the role of packaging on quality and branding, as well as training on the use of heat sealers, vacuum sealers, and label design), direct application, and monitoring of production results. The results showed that the training on visual branding and packaging design, as well as the introduction of vacuum sealer technology and label design, successfully added value to the product. Participants stated that products with new designs have more appeal and increased self-confidence for marketing through online media (Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp). This activity emphasized the importance of Brand Identity which can increase sales value and expand the marketing of MSME products.Abstrak: Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan melalui Penguatan Branding Visual dan Desain Kemasan untuk meningkatkan daya saing produk UMKM di Desa Sungsang. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan kepada UMKM pengolah hasil perikanan, berfokus pada kerupuk, pempek, dan otak-otak udang. Tahapan kegiatan mencakup identifikasi produk, pelatihan teknologi kemasan (edukasi tentang peran kemasan terhadap kualitas dan branding, serta pelatihan penggunaan heat sealer, vacuum sealer, dan desain label), penerapan langsung, dan monitoring hasil produksi. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan branding visual dan desain kemasan, serta pengenalan teknologi vacuum sealer dan desain label, berhasil memberikan value added pada produk. Peserta menyatakan produk dengan desain baru memiliki daya tarik lebih dan meningkatkan kepercayaan diri untuk pemasaran melalui media online (Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp). Kegiatan ini menekankan pentingnya Brand Identity yang dapat meningkatkan nilai jual dan memperluas pemasaran produk UMKM.

Abstract

Estuaries are intermediate environments that are extremely susceptible to pollution, especially heavy metals like manganese (Mn). The goals of this research were to determine the amount of manganese in the consumable flesh of Jerbung shrimp (Penaeus merguiensis) taken from the Sungsang Estuary in Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia, and to ascertain the safe intake levels for people. Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) was used to analyze the shrimp samples at a wavelength of 257. 61 nm. According to the findings, the average Mn content in shrimp muscle was somewhat higher than the limit set by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), falling between 3. 16 and 3. 21 mg/kg. Even if just shrimp are consumed, the projected consumption limits based on dietary intake calculations still suggest a comparatively low immediate health risk. However, the high Mn concentration indicates the effect of environmental pollution brought about by human actions in the Musi River estuary. These findings emphasize the significance of controlling pollution sources and carrying out routine environmental monitoring to ensure the safety of seafood and the sustainability of estuarine ecosystems.

JLSO 8(1):107-116.LAS is surfactant that is most commonly used because this surfactant is the main cleaning substance contained in detergent. Waste of detergent can give side effects in the tissue of organisms, especially on the gills and liver of fish. The aims of this research were to analyze the toxic effects arised from LAS surfactant to the survival of fish seed experiment with different concentrations, to determine levels of LAS surfactant that are capable to be tolerated and to analyze the gills and liver damage arising from LAS surfactant to fish seed experiment. The test of LAS surfactant toxicity on fish seed experiment was conducted using the laboratory of experimental method, while the testing of gills and liver histology of fish seed experiment with paraffin method and Hematoxylin Eosin (HE) staining. The results showed that LAS surfactant gave toxic effects on Humpback Grouper Seed (Cromileptes altivelis) and gave effect such damage to the gills and liver histology. Toxicity and tissue damage rose as the increase of LAS surfactant concentration. LAS surfactant levels were able to be tolerated by Humpback Grouper Seed test not more than 0,253 mg/l.

Jurnal Lahan Suboptimal: Journal of Suboptimal Lands. 8(2):213-219. The Musi river estuary plays an important role as one of the fishing grounds. The high activity in the musi estuary has an impact on the ecosystems in this region, including the negative impact in the form of ecosystem changes caused by heavy metals. The aim of this study was to determine the concentrations of heavy metals (Pb and Cu) in Alepesvariand Johniusbelangerii in the Musi river estuary. Fish were obtained from fishermen who used the Gillnet Millennium (Ply) gear in July 2018 and were analyzed using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results showed that the concentration of  Pb  in J. belangerii was greater than A. vari, but the concentration of Cu  in  A. vari  was greater than in  J. belangerii. Concentration of  Pb has exceeded the limit for safe consumption based on National Agency of Drug and Food Control.

Biodiversity of fishes in musi estuary, South Sumatra, Indonesia.  Jurnal Lahan Suboptimal : Journal of Suboptimal Lands 9(2): 192-198.The high activity in the Musi estuary will have an impact on fishes diversity. This research aimed to analyse the biodiversity of fishes in the Musi estuary in South Sumatra. An experimental fishing method was used for data collection by fishing ground following the local fishermen habit using gillnet millennium. The abundance of fish species found were 21 species and 16 families. The main catch was Hemibagrus nemurus with a high relative abundance (RA) of 35.4% but the high availability frequency of 100% is Eleutheronema tetradactylum. The average value of the moderate diversity index (H'= 1.47), the moderate evenness index (J'= 0.48) and the low dominance index (D= 0.32). This condition shows that the community structure of the species captured by the gill net is in a fairly stable condition with the number of species that are spread fairly evenly and no species dominate each other.

Abstract

Fish and some groups of shrimps and crabs are one of the economically important biota that live in the waters. Accumulation of heavy metals in fish can affect the economic value of marine fishery products. There are several types of fish that contain heavy metals and are harmful when consumed by humans. The purpose of this study was to determine the dominant bycatch fish species and the accumulation of heavy metals Pb and Cu in the bycatch of stationary lift net Pesisir Banyuasin. This study was conducted in November 2019 and the dominant bycatch included japuh fish (Dussumieria acuta), tembang fish (Sardinella fimbriata) and parang-parang fish (Chirocentrus dorab). Samples were taken from one stationary lift net then analysed using SSA (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry) with 3 repetitions. The results of the analysis found the average concentration of heavy metals Pb and Cu in japuh fish was 0.65 mg/kg Pb; 0.16 mg/kg Cu. In tembang fish 0.70 mg/kg Pb and 0.03 mg/kg Cu. The parang-parang fish was 0.50 mg/kg and 0.17 mg/kg Cu. Based on the quality standards of SNI, Directorate General of Food and Drug Administration and FAO, the Pb and Cu concentrations of the three types of by-catch fish are still below the quality standard threshold and safe for human consumption.

Abstract

The community knows Sungsang IV Village as one of the tourist destinations in Banyuasin Regency. Effective site plan signage helps visitors navigate the tourist area easily and provides important information about key locations such as tourist attractions, public facilities, and other important points. With an attractive and informative design, these site plan signs can be integral to village branding, creating a positive first impression for visitors. Community service aims to increase community knowledge about promotional icons through photo spots and location plans to improve the tourism sector in Sungsang IV Village, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. A field survey was conducted to find out the location of the photo spot and make a sign design given a map of the village location plan. The installation of the sign was carried out in collaboration with the local community. The installation of signs in Sungsang IV Village makes it easy for visitors to access the location and facilities in the tourist village. This activity also improves the identity and promotion of the tourism village, which supports the attraction of local tourism and is expected to impact the economic and social development of the community positively.

Abstract

Nutrien merupakan material kimia yang penting bagi kelangsungan hidup organisme perairan. Keberadaannya di kolom perairan dapat dijadikan sebagai penentu apakah perairan berada dalam kondisi subur atau tidak. Sumber nutrien di perairan dapat berasal dari aktivitas manusia seperti pemukiman dan pertanian yang terdapat di darat dan masuk ke kawasan muara melalui aliran sungai. Meskipun demikian, masuknya nutrien dalam jumlah besar dapat menurunkan kualitas perairan karena dapat memicu terjadinya eutrofikasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi nutrien di air dan sedimen serta TSS dan karakteristik sedimen di sekitar Perairan Pulau Payung. Pengambilan sampel dilaksanakan bulan September 2022 pada 5 stasiun penelitian, analisis nitrat dan fosfat pada sampel air mengacu pada metode brusin sulfat SNI 06-2480-1991 dan SNI 6989.31-2015. Analisis nitrat pada sedimen menggunakan metode bruan  dan  analisis fosfat  merujuk pada metode SNI 19-2483-1991. Analisis tekstur sedimen menggunakan metode ayak kering dan analisa TSS dengan metode penyaringan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan konsentrasi nitrat di kolom perairan Pulau Payung berkisar 1,7-2,8 mg/l (telah melebihi baku mutu, 0,008 mg/L berdasarkan Kepmen LH (2004) dan 0,07 mg/L berdasarkan US-EPA (1973), sementara fosfat berkisar 0,25-0,48 mg/l (tidak melebihi baku mutu 0,2 – 1,0 mg/L berdasarkan Kepmen LH PP RI No.22 Tahun 2021). Konsentrasi nitrat sedimen Pulau Payung berkisar 24,69-40,41 mg/kg (tergolong perairan dengan kandungan nitrat tinggi) dan fosfat berkisar 1,15-1,54 mg/kg (tergolong perairan dengan kandungan fosfat sangat rendah). Sedimen Pulau Payung sebagian besar didominasi substrat lempung dan sebagian kecil lempung berpasir. Adapun nilai TSS yang ditemukan berkisar antara 115,22 – 212,97 mg/l.

Abstract

  Indonesia sebagai negara kepulauan memiliki potensi sumber daya laut yang besar dan strategis, sehingga memerlukan sumber daya manusia yang kompeten dan memiliki pemahaman memadai tentang sistem kelautan. Oseanografi dan instrumentasi kelautan berperan penting dalam memahami dinamika laut, pemantauan kualitas perairan, serta pengelolaan sumber daya laut secara berkelanjutan. Namun, pemahaman dan minat generasi muda, khususnya siswa sekolah menengah atas (SMA), terhadap bidang tersebut masih tergolong rendah. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, membentuk persepsi positif, serta menumbuhkan minat siswa terhadap oseanografi dan instrumentasi kelautan. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada Mei 2025 di SMA Nurul Yakin Tanjung Batu, Kabupaten Ogan Ilir, dengan melibatkan dosen dan mahasiswa Jurusan Ilmu Kelautan FMIPA Universitas Sriwijaya. Metode yang digunakan meliputi edukasi melalui presentasi dan diskusi interaktif, demonstrasi alat kelautan sederhana, serta evaluasi menggunakan kuesioner pre-test dan post-test. Evaluasi difokuskan pada tiga dimensi, yaitu tingkat pengetahuan, persepsi terhadap urgensi dan daya tarik bidang oseanografi, serta minat siswa dalam kegiatan lanjutan. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada seluruh dimensi yang diukur. Tingkat pengetahuan siswa pada kategori Sangat Mengetahui meningkat dari 2% menjadi 71%, sementara kategori Tidak Mengetahui menurun dari 87% menjadi 7%. Persepsi siswa terhadap urgensi bidang oseanografi menunjukkan peningkatan kategori Sangat Perlu dari 11% menjadi 73%. Selain itu, minat siswa pada kategori Sangat Tertarik meningkat dari 9% menjadi 69%. Hasil ini menegaskan bahwa pendekatan edukatif berbasis interaksi dan praktik sederhana efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman, kesadaran, dan motivasi siswa terhadap bidang kelautan, serta berpotensi menjadi model pengenalan ilmu dan karier kelautan di tingkat sekolah menengah.
