Abstract

This research was conducted in the village of Siharangkarang, Hutaimbaru, Padangsidimpuan, North Sumatra. Data obtained from the open interviews. Informant selection technique used for the pre- observation is purposive sampling method. The next interview was conducted by sampling snowbowling. It Found 41 species of medicinal plants are commonly used by people in the village Siharangkarang. 30 species of medicinal plants of 41 species that have been known to have been cultivated by the people, be it at home or  in the garden. The using of plants as medicine by the people in the village Siharangkarang cover all part  of the plant, but  the most widely of that part who  used are the leaves.

Abstract

The aimed of this research was to investigated human intestinal bacteria (Streptococcus faecalis, Eschericia coli, Salmonella Sp., and Vibrio fischeri), to investigated dose of tartrazine, and to investigated biotransformation of tartrazine by human intestinal bacteria (Streptococcus faecalis, Eschericia coli, Salmonella Sp., and Vibrio fischeri). The method of this research was experiment with significant correlation to investigated biotransformation of tartrazine by human intestinal bacteria (Streptococcus faecalis, Eschericia coli, Salmonella Sp., and Vibrio fischeri). This study is primarily focussed on made bacteria medium, made standart inoculums of bacteria, and evaluation for activity of human intestinal bacteria (Streptococcus faecalis, Eschericia coli, Salmonella Sp., and Vibrio fischeri). The results obtained were attributed to the human intestinal bacteria was used in this research was biotransformated tartrazine. From the results that had been increase dose of tartrazine correlation with increase biotransformation by human intestinal bacteria. Highest dose of tartrazine was 15 mg, and highest biotransformation by Vibrio fischeri, which rate of zone decolourisation diameter was 1,22 cm, and rate of zone decolourisation was 1,44 cm2. Statistically showed significantly in correlation dose of tartrazine with rate of zone decolourisation (0,001 < P < 0,05), but statistically showed non significantly in correlation bacteria with rate of zone decolourisation (0,05 < P < 0,268).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the teaching materials developed worthy of use as a teaching material for tissue culture in SMA Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan based on BNSP assessment criteria. Knowing the effectiveness of biological teaching materials with Student Centered Learning approaches on tissue culture materials as reading material for students of grade XI IPA SMA / MA effective and improve students biology learning outcomes. This research is research of development of 4D model (four D model) suggested by Thiagrajan et al (1974) with research procedure covering Define, Designe, Develope and Dessiminate. The data obtained in the form of quantitative data validator and qualitative data. The product of this research is tissue culture teaching material for high school / MA students. Based on the results of the study, the average percentage of six validators on the teaching materials of students is 80.69% with the conclusions of the teaching materials worthy of use as teaching materials and this product can be followed by a small revision adding some supporters to optimize the results of the teaching materials by considering the advice and criticism from the validator. Result of questionnaire analysis of student response in general obtained average percentage of 81,24% mean student have been able to comprehend teaching materials that have been developed and effective for use in learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the diversity of Nepenthes species in Sipirok sub-district. Location determination research using survey method. The collection of the data is performed using the methods of exploration. Found 7 types of Nepenthes eustachya Nepenthes i.e., Nepenthes ovata, Nepenthes gracilis, Nepenthes rhombicaulis, Nepenthes reinwardtiana, Nepenthes tobaica and Nepenthes reinwardtiana natural silangan one x Nepenthes tobaica. Nepenthes found the lowlands and the Highlands. Nepenthes eustachya is found at an altitude of 1008 mdpl, where this type previously found only in lowland Sumatra.

Abstract

Biodiversity refers to the variety of organisms, including genes, species, and ecosystems in a given area. Biodiversity plays an important role in evolutionary processes and in maintaining the balance between the biosphere ecosystem and biological systems. Climate change is equally important to contribute to the sustainability of biodiversity. Factors causing ecosystem damage include human population, habitat conversion and transformation, overexploitation, invasive species, pollution, and climate change. By stopping the rate of loss of biodiversity that is occurring in the world, it will automatically invest in the survival and welfare of every human being.
