Abstract

Systems of waste management in Padangsidimpuan City is an open dumping system. The location of the Padangsidimpuan City landfill is carried out at the Batu Bola TPA located in Batu Bola Village which is 120 meters from the Batang Ayumi river flow. Continuous landfill in the landfill produces pollutants in the form of leachate. Leachate contains organic materials and heavy metals. Heavy metals that are often found in leachate water are Iron (Fe) cadmium (Cd) and Zinc (Zn). This research aims to know the quality of the water of the Batang Ayumi river in terms of the content of heavy metals Cd, Zn, and Fe. This research uses descriptive exploratory method by conducting a survey first. The determination of the sampling location using purposive sampling method at four stations specified. River water sampling is carried out twice, before and after rain. This research uses an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer tool. The data obtained were analyzed by comparing research data with water quality standards based on PP. No. 82 of 2001 to look at the conditions of the heavy metal pollution of Cd, Zn and Fe. The results of this study showed that the average concentration of the metal content Cd, Zn and Fe werw below the specified quality threshold, namely the concentration of metal Cd of all stations is 0.0009 mg/l, a concentration of metal Fe is 0.03 mg/l, and concentration of Zn metal is 0.0002 mg/l.

Abstract

The presence of heavy metals in waters can be sourced from mining, household, agricultural waste and industrial wastes. Some heavy metals are toxic such as Cu, Hg, and Pb can accumulate in aquatic sediments. Sediments that are contaminated with heavy metals will endanger the organisms that live in them. This research aims to identify the concentrations of heavy metals Cu, Hg, and Pb in sediments in the Batang Ayumi River. This research uses a descriptive exploratory method by conducting a survey in advance. Determination of sampling locations using purposive sampling method at four determined stations. This research uses an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. Data analysis was performed by comparing the test result data with the quality standards issued by the IADC / CEDA. The test results show that the concentration of Cu, Hg and Pb in the sediment has a value smaller than the target level value, so the substance in the sediment is not too dangerous for the environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the river water quality in terms of the spread of heavy metals found from the gold mining in Batang Gadis Mandailing Natal River and to determine the effect of heavy metal distribution on river flow from the gold mining of aquatic biota on the Batang Gadis Mandailing Natal River. This research uses descriptive exploratory method by conducting a survey first. Determination of sampling sites using purposive sampling method at the two stations that are determined. Sampling of water and sediments from each location. Water samples were taken as much as 500 mL, samples of sediment were taken at a depth of 10-15 cm from the base surface as much as 100-200 g (Mann, 1978). Examples of water biota are randomly taken at each station as much as 50-100 g, then put together into a composite sample for further analysis in the laboratory. Water quality is measured insitu include temperature, brightness, turbidity, depth, current speed, pH, DO, CO2. While the COD sample, BOD was taken to the laboratory to be analyzed by preservation using ice at a temperature of around 4 oC before observing in the UMTS biology laboratory. Data obtained, then analyzed descriptively. The results of this study are the levels of heavy metals found in the two Batang Gadis River observation stations that are equally good in water, sediment and those found in fish, namely Hg <0,0008, Cd <0,003 and Pb <0,005. Metal levels found are still below the threshold value, but need to be aware of the accumulation of these metals. The histological observations of crisp fish gills at the Bustak mine station are found to experience edema and necrosis which are strongly suspected to be caused by pollution of heavy metals found in the Batang Gadis River. Abstract

The role of food additives (BTP), especially preservatives, is becoming increasingly important in line with technological advances in the production of synthetic food additives. Preservatives are used to preserve food that is easily damaged. Lately with many found food products such as tofu, meatballs, noodles and snacks of school children containing harmful chemicals that cause people to be careful in consuming these types of foods. The food is often sold in the school environment by food vendors and sold freely in the community. The majority of school food snacks (PJAS) throughout 2010 still contain hazardous chemicals. As a result of almost every year still found some schoolchildren, especially at the elementary level, experiencing food poisoning. The number of PJAS containing hazardous materials is reflected from the supervision of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM). In this case, devotees have provided direction and counselling about healthy snacks and simple test of snack test containing formalin and borax conducted in workshop activity. The target of this activity is the teachers and elementary school children at SDN 200201 Padangsidimpuan. The number of extension participants is 90 people consisting of teachers and students. The place of execution of activities carried out in SDN 200101 Padangsidimpuan. The implementation method used an experimental method and mentoring. With this activity is expected to provide information and hazard knowledge of chemical content in foods, especially formalin and borax to create a healthy and quality generation.Keywords: Healthy snacks, formalin, borax

Abstract

Desa Hutanamale, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal selama ini mengembangkan berbagai tanaman hortilkura. Salah satu tanaman itu adalah kubis yang tumbuh subur di desa yang berada kaki Gunung Sorik Marapi. Seperti beberapa jenis sayuran lainnya, kubis memiliki sifat mudah rusak, berpola produksi musiman dan tidak tahan disimpan lama. Kondisi seperti ini tentu saja merugikan petani sebagai produsen kubis. Insektisida atau pestisida kimia pembasmi serangga hama yang berasal dari bahan kimia sintetis, selama ini telah dianggap juru selamat karena telah memberikan sumbangan yang nyata terhadap program peningkatan produksi pertanian yang sekaligus meningkatkan pendapatan petani. Penggunaan pestisida kimia yang berkelanjutan dapat memberikan dampak buruk bagi lingkungan. Pestisida dari bahan alami memiliki kelebihan antara lain ramah lingkungan, murah dan mudah didapat, tidak meracuni tanaman, tidak menimbulkan resistensi hama, mengandung unsur hara yang diperlukan tanaman, kompatibel digabung dengan pengendalian lain dan menghasilkan produk pertanian yang bebas residu pestisida. Target kegiatan ini adalah kelompok Tani Hortikultura dan Kelompok Tani Karet yang berada di Desa Hutanamale Kecamatan Puncak Sorik Marapi Mandailing Natal. Jumlah peserta penyuluhan sebanyak 25 orang. Tempat pelaksaan kegiatan dilaksanakan di Desa Hutanamle Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. Metode Pelaksanaan yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental dan pendampingan. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini mitra memahami dampak positif dari penggunaan pestisida alami serta memahami dampak negatif atau buruk yang ditimbulkan oleh penggunaan pestisida kimia secara terus-menerus, mitra sudah mampu membuat dan menghasilkan pestisida alami sendiri yang aman dan ramah lingkungan, mitra mampu mengurangi biaya produksi pertanian dengan memanfaatkan limbah air cucian beras sebagai alternative pengganti pestisida kimia dan pestisida alami terbukti efektif pada sayur kubis.Kata Kunci : Pestisida kimia, pestisida alami, kubis

Abstract

The problem of this research is the low of the student’ ability critical thinkig and the result of student study of SMA Negeri 1 Padang Bolak in class ten. The goal of this research is to make the critical thinking of the student  of the student better and to make better the result of their study is chemistry by using cooperatif studying think pair share. The tool to collect the data is test of ability in critical thinking questioner of critical thinking, paper of student activity and also teacher work. The observation kind of research is class action research (PTK). The result of the student study by using studying method of student cooperatif think pair share in the class of ten and according to the result of the student ability in critical thinking in the first siclus is 16  the student pass the tes and the second siclus about 25 the student pass the test from 30 student follow student tes. The result questioner of critical thinking first siclus is enough and second siclus is very good. The result activity observation student has increased as well as the teacher performance observation that has increased. From the research we kow that there is the growth i the questioner of student thinking thinking ability, student activities and the teachers ability in using think pair  pair share cooperative studying model in class ten of Mia-4 SMA Negeri 1 Padang Bolak. So, this model can be used i chemistry study and others.

Abstract

This study aims to improve student chemistry learning activities and to understand students' chemical concepts through the use of art-based chemistry activities. This research is a classroom action research conducted in 2 cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were students of class X MIA Padang Bolak State High School 2, which numbered 30 students. Data sources come from teachers and students. Data collection techniques through observation, tests, questionnaires, and interviews, then analysed using qualitative descriptive. The results showed an increase in the understanding of students' chemical concepts in the first cycle obtained 53.33% and the second cycle 83.33%. The percentage of biochemical activity of students in the first cycle was 58.68% and the second cycle was 81.06%. Based on the results of the study, it can conclude that the use of art-based chemical activities could improve students 'understanding of chemical concepts and students' chemical learning activities in synthetic bonding material in class X MIA, SMA Negeri 2 Padang Bolak 2018/2019 academic year. Keywords: Classroom Action Research, Art-based Chemistry Activities, Understanding Concept.

Abstract

AbstractA research has been done about the comparation of the cinnamic acid and benzoic acid content in the frankincenses (Styrax benzoin) quality I, III and V which of obtained from Pangaribuan region (North Tapanuli). The cinnamic acid and benzoic acid content are analyzed by using Gas Chromatography with injection volume 1 µl. The data is analyzed qualitatively by measuring the retention time standard solution, with cinnamic acid and benzoic acid content are determained by using calibration curve with linier regretion from least square method. The result show the cinnamic acid and benzoic acid from the frankincenses class I is 26, 4303 %, and 3,3573 %, frankincenses class III is 26,0270%  and 2,0705%, frankincenses class V is 0,2884% and 1,5916%.Keywords : Frankincenses, cinnamic acid, benzoic acid, Gas Chromatography

Abstract

Tujuanpenelitianadalah untuk mengetahui efektifitas limbahaircucianberas sebagai pestisida alami terhadap hama ulat daun sawi dan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis ulat apa saja yang menjadi hama pada tanaman sawi Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimental. Terdiri atas dua perlakuan yaitu penyemprotan menggunakan  air cucian beras (P1) dan tanpa penyemprotan menggunakan air cucian beras (P0). Parameteryang akandiamatiadalah: jumlah populasi hama ulat daun sawipadasetiaptanamansampelyang telah ditentukan dan jenis ulat yang ditemukan. Waktupengamatandilakukan setiap7hari setelahpenyemprotan air cucian berasyaitu17,24dan31 HST. Datayang diperolehditabulasidan dianalisisdengan menggunakan Uji standar error.Hasilpenelitianmenunjukkan air cucian beras berpengaruh nyata efektif dalam mengendalikan hama ulat daun Plutellaxylostellapadapada pengamatan, 17, 24 dan 31 HST. Rata-rata jumlah ulat daun Plutellaxylostella  pada P0 selalu jauh lebih tinggi dibanding dengan pada perlakuan P1.Penelitianinimembuktikanbahwaair cucian beras efektif sebagai pestisida alami pada tanaman sawi.Kata Kunci : Air cucian Beras, Pestisida alami, Tanaman Sawi

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kandungan besi (Fe) didalam air zam­ zam, contohnya air zam-zam diperoleh dari Mekkah, Saudi Arabia. Penetuan kandungan besi (Fe) dilakukan dengan metode Spektrometri Serapan Atom (SSA) hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa kandungan Besi (Fe) dalam air zam-zam yaitu 0,0588 mg!L, jika dibandingkan dengan persyaratan air minum yang telah  ditetakan oleh Menteri Kesehatan No.907/Menkes/SKIVII/2002 Tanggal 29 Juli 2002 Untuk Air Minum diperoleh bahwa air zam-zam layak untuk dikonsumsi sebagai air minum.Kata Kunci : Kadar Desi, Air zam-zam
