Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the campus environment on students’ learning interest in Civic Education at Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach to explore how both physical and social aspects of the campus environment affect students’ motivation and engagement in academic activities, particularly in Civic Education. Data were collected through observation and questionnaires distributed to students enrolled in the Civic Education program. The findings reveal a strong and significant correlation between the campus environment and students’ learning interest, with a correlation coefficient of 0.82, indicating a very strong relationship. Furthermore, the study finds that students’ learning interest has a strong influence on academic achievement, with a correlation value of 0.70. Another finding indicates a moderate correlation of 0.51 between campus environment and learning interest when analyzed independently. The results of hypothesis testing also show that the F-calculated value (6.33) exceeds the F-table value (3.15), confirming the significance of the relationship. These findings suggest that a conducive and supportive campus environment—encompassing clean and organized facilities, healthy peer interactions, and constructive lecturer-student engagement—can enhance students' interest and academic performance in Civic Education. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of the non-academic factors that influence learning motivation and offers practical recommendations for universities to strengthen campus culture and learning infrastructure. It also provides valuable insight for future research in educational psychology and civic education development at the higher education level.

Abstract

In today’s competitive job market, the ability to compose a professional English application letter is essential for university graduates, especially in non-native English-speaking contexts. This study explores the implementation and outcomes of a socialization program designed to enhance the English correspondence skills of sixth-semester Management students at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi (STIE) Sultan Agung, Pematangsiantar, Indonesia. A total of 75–80 students were divided into three groups (Group A, Group B, and Group C) and participated in a series of interactive workshops focused on the structure, language, and personalization of English application letters. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observations, document analysis of student letters, reflection essays, and post-program questionnaires. The results revealed significant improvements in students’ understanding of letter format, grammar usage, and the ability to tailor content to specific job advertisements. Peer review and collaborative learning played a crucial role in increasing student engagement and confidence in using English professionally. The discussion highlights the importance of genre-based instruction and social learning in developing employability-oriented communication skills. The findings emphasize the need for higher education institutions to embed practical, job-focused English training into their curriculum to better prepare students for real-world career demands. This study concludes that structured socialization programs can effectively equip students with the skills and confidence needed to construct impactful application letters, thereby enhancing their readiness for the job market. With the right support, students can take ownership of their career development, starting with how they present themselves on paper.

Abstract

Civics Education (PKn) learning plays a strategic role in shaping democratic character while improving student achievement. However, learning practices in schools still tend to be teacher-centered and involve minimal active student participation. This study aims to analyze the influence of democratic behavior and discussion methods on student achievement in Civics Education for grade XI IPS at SMA Negeri 3 Pematangsiantar in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The study population was 142 students, with a sample of 28 students determined through purposive random sampling technique. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire to measure democratic behavior and the application of discussion methods, as well as documentation of student achievement scores. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression tests, multiple linear regression, linearity tests, and correlation tests with the help of the SPSS program. The results showed that democratic behavior had a positive and significant effect on student achievement, discussion methods also had a positive and significant effect on learning achievement, and there was a strong simultaneous influence between democratic behavior and discussion methods on student achievement. These findings confirm that civics learning that emphasizes the internalization of democratic values through discussion methods can create a participatory learning environment, enhance student understanding, and strengthen civic character. Therefore, consistent application of discussion methods and strengthening of students' democratic behavior need to be optimized in civics learning.

Abstract

Employee performance is crucial for hospital service quality, yet limited work facilities remain a barrier to satisfaction and productivity. This study aims to analyze the influence of workplace facilities on job satisfaction and employee performance in the administrative unit. The research used a combination of field research and library research methods. The population consisted of all 33 administrative staff members. Data analysis techniques included normality tests, qualitative descriptive analysis, and multiple linear regression. The results showed that workplace facilities were rated as good. Employees reported a satisfactory level of job satisfaction, although aspects such as work challenges and reward systems need improvement. Employee performance was also rated as good, especially in terms of discipline and punctuality, while initiative was hindered by monotonous work routines. Quantitative analysis revealed a moderately strong correlation between workplace facilities and both job satisfaction and employee performance. Workplace facilities accounted for 56.3% of the variance in job satisfaction and 48.5% in employee performance. Regression analysis confirmed that workplace facilities have a statistically significant effect on both job satisfaction and performance. These findings highlight the critical role of workplace facilities in enhancing human resource quality within hospital administrative environments.
