Abstract

In increasing public participation in elections, the low level of citizen participation in the previous election process was caused by a lack of understanding, such as: about the importance of the right to vote and election procedures, as well as the digital divide which made it difficult for people to access information related to elections. This research aims to examine how socialization activities initiated by MBKM can increase community awareness and understanding of the importance of elections and motivate them to actively participate in the democratic process at the village level, especially Dotuhe village. This study was conducted using qualitative research methodology with library study methods. research), which focuses on collecting and analyzing secondary data to produce accurate and relevant information. The results of the research show that socialization through MBKM Election activities is effective in increasing public participation in elections. This is proven by the increase in the number of voters in the presidential election in Dutohe village in 2024 compared to the previous year. Apart from that, MBKM Election activities also help increase public awareness about the importance of elections and raise their voices and their role in determining the country's leaders.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to introduce a spatial approach in disaster mitigation education and environmental conservation based on local wisdom to elementary school students in the coastal area of Tomini Bay. The activity was carried out at SDN 3 Kabila Bone and involved 25 students from grades 1 to 6, selected based on school recommendations and willingness to participate. The method used was classic lectures with the aid of visual media, such as maps of the Tomini Bay area and presentations accompanied by strengthened narratives of local wisdom. The activities took place in an enjoyable learning atmosphere, accompanied by question-and-answer sessions and interactive discussions. The success of the activity was evaluated through direct observation of three cognitive aspects of the students: their ability to recall, understand, and apply the material. The results showed that most students were able to achieve a high level of understanding in all aspects, particularly in applying the knowledge to real-life contexts. The spatial approach made it easier for students to recognize their home region and visually understand potential risks, while local values strengthened students’ connection to their social and cultural environment. This approach is simple, adaptive, and can be implemented in elementary schools in coastal areas with limited access to technology. These findings support the effectiveness of the spatial-cultural approach as a relevant, grounded, and widely replicable model for disaster mitigation education and environmental conservation in other regions with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Pengembangan wisata di wilayah pedesaan merupakan langkah strategis guna meningkatkan taraf hidup masyarakat melalui pemanfaatan potensi alam dan budaya secara berkelanjutan. Artikel ini mengkaji strategi pengembangan objek wisata Air Terjun Ayuhulalo di Kabupaten Boalemo, Provinsi Gorontalo, menggunakan analisis SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). Metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan diskusi bersama pemangku kepentingan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Air Terjun Ayuhulalo memiliki kekuatan berupa keindahan alam yang masih terjaga dan potensi budaya lokal, namun juga menghadapi kelemahan seperti fasilitas yang minim dan akses jalan yang belum optimal. Peluang pengembangan didukung oleh tren wisata alam yang meningkat dan dukungan pemerintah, sementara ancaman berasal dari persaingan objek wisata lain dan kerusakan lingkungan. Strategi pengembangan yang direkomendasikan adalah memanfaatkan kekuatan dan peluang secara maksimal (strategi SO), serta memperbaiki kelemahan dengan memanfaatkan peluang (strategi WO). Pendekatan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kunjungan wisatawan sekaligus menjaga kelestarian lingkungan dan memberdayakan masyarakat lokal.Kata Kunci: Strategi Pengembangan, Analisis SWOT, EFAS dan IFAS

Abstract

Pariwisata memegang peran strategis dalam pembangunan ekonomi daerah. Kabupaten Gorontalo yang kaya akan potensi wisata alam dan budaya memiliki prospek besar dalam sektor ini. Namun, kesenjangan dalam ketersediaan fasilitas pendukung menjadi hambatan bagi daya saing destinasi dan kenyamanan wisatawan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan dan menilai kondisi fasilitas penunjang pariwisata dengan menggunakan teknologi Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG). Data dikumpulkan dari sembilan lokasi wisata melalui survei lapangan dan pemetaan spasial berbasis GPS. Indikator fasilitas seperti listrik, air, toilet, gazebo, tempat parkir, dan tempat makan dievaluasi menggunakan sistem skoring terstandar. Perangkat lunak ArcMap 10.8 dan QGIS digunakan untuk mengklasifikasikan destinasi ke dalam kategori “baik,” “cukup,” dan “kurang baik”, serta menghasilkan peta tematik yang menunjukkan distribusi spasial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tujuh lokasi termasuk kategori “baik,” satu “cukup,” dan satu “kurang baik.” Visualisasi spasial membantu mengidentifikasi kekurangan infrastruktur dan menentukan prioritas pembangunan. Pendekatan SIG memberikan data pariwisata yang akurat, mudah diakses, dan interaktif bagi para pemangku kepentingan. Studi ini menekankan pentingnya integrasi teknologi spasial dalam perencanaan pariwisata berkelanjutan dan menawarkan model yang dapat diterapkan di daerah lain. Ditekankan pula perlunya integrasi analisis spasial dengan pendekatan partisipatif agar pengembangan pariwisata lebih inklusif dan efektif.

Abstract

This study presents a thematic literature review examining the role of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in developing supporting facilities for tourism destinations, with a specific focus on the Gorontalo region. Analysis of ten selected articles reveals that GIS is effective in identifying facility gaps, classifying tourism sites based on development needs, and designing spatially targeted strategies. GIS offers advantages such as real-time data availability, support for participatory planning, and continuous evaluation, facilitating more accurate, evidence-based policymaking. Additionally, GIS enables integration across sectors such as transportation, local economy, and environmental preservation, enhancing the effectiveness of regional planning. Despite challenges like the need for technical training, limited data availability, and uneven infrastructure access, GIS remains a valuable tool for supporting digital transformation in tourism governance. This study recommends the expansion of GIS as a key instrument for inclusive, efficient, and sustainable tourism planning and destination promotion in Gorontalo

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ perceptions of earthquake disaster mitigation at SMA Negeri 1 Suwawa Timur, focusing on aspects such as understanding, attitude, preparedness, participation, and evaluation of the school’s mitigation program. A descriptive quantitative method was employed, with data collected through questionnaires completed by students. The results indicate that students' understanding of earthquake mitigation falls into the "very good" category, with an average score of 4.12. Students’ attitudes toward the importance of disaster mitigation and their participation in mitigation activities scored 3.60 and 3.61, respectively, while their evaluation of the school’s mitigation program scored 3.64—all classified as "good." However, students’ preparedness for disaster remains in the "moderate" category, with a score of 3.00. These findings suggest that while the mitigation program is generally effective, further improvement is necessary—particularly in enhancing students’ preparedness—through the development of more interactive and collaborative mitigation initiatives.

Abstract

Mobile augmented reality (AR) has evolved from an experimental visualization tool into a mature pedagogical medium that redefines spatial learning in geography education. By embedding digital content into authentic locations, AR fosters experiential and inquiry-driven learning aligned with geography’s spatial and environmental paradigms. Building on evidence from 2015 to 2025, this review synthesizes 138 studies to examine how AR supports cognitive, affective, and behavioral learning dimensions. The analysis reveals that AR enhances spatial reasoning, visualization of abstract processes, and place-based engagement when integrated within robust instructional design frameworks. However, persistent gaps remain in long-term learning assessment, scalability, and teacher competence for authoring AR experiences. Cognitive-load and motivation studies suggest that AR’s benefits are maximized when interactivity and spatial anchoring are balanced with scaffolding. The review proposes a multidimensional model linking technological affordances, pedagogical strategies, and geographic thinking to promote education for sustainability and digital spatial citizenship. Implications for researchers, educators, and developers are discussed to guide future cross-disciplinary innovations.

Abstract

Disaster literacy is a crucial aspect for the people of Gorontalo, as the region is highly vulnerable to various natural hazards. This program aimed to enhance students’ disaster literacy through geospatial data-based learning. The program was conducted at SMAS Wira Bhakti Gorontalo with 20 students as participants. The activities were carried out in several stages: preparation, pretest, lecture, training (hands-on), posttest, and reflection. The results of the pretest and posttest showed an improvement in students’ knowledge. The average pretest score of 67 increased to 88 in the posttest. This finding indicates that the use of geospatial data is effective in improving students’ understanding of disasters. Reflections and student responses further revealed that this program was beneficial in enhancing students’ preparedness for disasters. This program successfully improved students’ disaster literacy and contributed to fostering a disaster-resilient young generation.

Abstract

Instilling a love for Indonesia’s homeland from an early age is essential. One effective approach to fostering patriotism is by introducing young children to Indonesia’s geography. Visual-spatial intelligence plays a crucial role in helping children comprehend spatial concepts and geographic locations. This program aims to enhance young children's visual-spatial intelligence through interactive learning methods utilizing video and map-based media. The activities include video presentations, map-based exercises, coloring maps of Indonesia, and identifying island names to promote active engagement in the learning process. The results indicate that 86.6% of children demonstrated high engagement during learning activities. Furthermore, 80% exhibited strong proficiency in map coloring, while another 80% successfully identified and named islands with high accuracy. These findings suggest that integrating video and map-based media effectively enhances children's geographical understanding and visual-spatial skills. The adoption of audiovisual and visual learning methods can be expanded in early childhood education to foster an interest in geography and strengthen visual-spatial intelligence from an early age.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi keberlanjutan wisata Lombongo dengan pendekatan SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) guna memberikan rekomendasi strategis dalam pengembangan pariwisata berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui angket, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa wisata Lombongo berada dalam Kuadran I (Strategi Agresif/SO), yang berarti destinasi ini memiliki kekuatan yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menangkap peluang yang ada. Kekuatan utama meliputi daya tarik alam yang unik, dukungan pemerintah, dan fasilitas wisata yang tersedia, sementara peluang terbesar terletak pada tren ekowisata, promosi digital, serta pengembangan event pariwisata. Berdasarkan posisi ini, strategi yang direkomendasikan adalah penguatan infrastruktur wisata, pengembangan ekowisata berbasis edukasi, pemanfaatan teknologi digital untuk promosi, serta peningkatan keterlibatan masyarakat dalam pengelolaan destinasi. Implementasi strategi ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan daya saing dan keberlanjutan wisata Lombongo, serta memberikan manfaat ekonomi, sosial, dan lingkungan bagi masyarakat setempat. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan sinergi antara pemerintah, pengelola wisata, serta masyarakat untuk memastikan keberhasilan strategi yang diterapkan.
