Abstract

Abstract

The rapid advancement of science and technology has demanded innovation in education, particularly in learning approaches that foster student motivation and engagement. This study aims to investigate the influence of mathematical literacy skills and the use of audiovisual media on student learning motivation at Al-Madina Nabire Middle School. Employing a quantitative method with multiple linear regression analysis, data were collected from 28 eighth-grade students through questionnaires measured on a Likert scale. Classical assumption tests confirmed that the data met requirements for normality, multicollinearity, autocorrelation, and homoscedasticity. The results revealed that mathematical literacy skills did not significantly affect learning motivation, whereas the use of audiovisual media had a significant and positive impact. Simultaneously, both variables accounted for 92% of the variance in learning motivation, with audiovisual media being the dominant factor. These findings suggest that integrating audiovisual media in mathematics education can effectively boost student motivation, offering a more engaging alternative to conventional literacy-focused instruction. This research contributes empirical evidence for educators and policymakers on the benefits of innovative media in learning design, particularly in diverse and challenging school contexts. Future studies are recommended to expand sample size, explore additional variables such as teacher competence or school environment, and apply qualitative methods for deeper insights into the learning process.

Abstract

School-based management (SBM) requires school-level autonomy to be supported by participation, accountability, role clarity, and the capacity to use limited resources. This qualitative single-case study examines how a principal described and enacted SBM in a foundation-run high school in Nabire, Papua. The principal was the sole primary informant. The available research record indicates that data were collected through an in-depth interview, observation, and document review, although the fieldwork period and detailed collection procedures were not documented. A framework-guided thematic analysis organized the account around planning, resource organization, program implementation, monitoring and evaluation, enabling and constraining conditions, and proposed responses. The principal reported an annual work program, formal task allocation, supervision and teacher-development activities, and periodic evaluation meetings. Implementation was constrained by uneven participation, limited resources, overlapping duties, weak program indicators, and uneven understanding of SBM. Because the research record did not include verbatim quotations or traceable observation and document identifiers, the findings are interpreted as a descriptive managerial account rather than verified evidence of school-wide effectiveness. The study proposes that formal routines become more participatory and learning-oriented when shared understanding, decision rights, role clarity, measurable indicators, and foundation-school accountability are aligned. The findings are analytically transferable to comparable settings but are not statistically generalizable.

Abstract

This study examines how principal leadership supports the development of teachers' digital competence in a resource-constrained faith-based junior high school in Nabire, Papua. A descriptive qualitative case-study design was used to investigate the leadership process within one school. The principal served as the primary participant, while teacher informants provided supporting perspectives. Data were generated through semi-structured interviews and direct school-based observations and analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings identify six interrelated practices: role modelling and motivation, participatory digital-program planning, annual training and peer mentoring, technology-focused supervision, incremental resource mobilization, and adaptive responses to internet and device constraints. Participant accounts and observations indicated increased use of presentations and instructional videos and greater student engagement during some technology-supported lessons. The study did not directly measure achievement gains or establish causal effects. The case suggests that digital leadership in resource-constrained schools operates as an adaptive support cycle combining professional learning, distributed peer expertise, supervision, and infrastructure improvisation. The findings are transferable primarily to schools with comparable organizational and infrastructural conditions.
