Abstract

Westernization and the currents of globalization have facilitated the spread of educational liberalism, gradually eroding students’ faith and moral character as acts of immorality increasingly become perceived as part of societal culture. This growing concern over various forms of student social deviation underscores the importance of studying the implementation of educational methods in shaping the character of elementary school students, so that children can be guided early to develop noble morals and grow into a distinguished generation. Using a qualitative approach, this study collected data through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed it using descriptive-interpretative techniques, with the research conducted at the Integrated Islamic Elementary School Al-Hidayah Bogor. The findings indicate that integrative educational methods function effectively and systematically when aligned with a supportive school system and environment, enabling learning activities and school programs to synergize in forming students’ character at school, at home, and within the community through five main methods: exemplary behavior (keteladanan), habituation, encouragement and deterrence (targhib and tarhib), storytelling, and reflection and contemplation (tafakkur and tadabbur).

Abstract

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum in Indonesia emphasizes character education through the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). However, existing studies generally examine P5 implementation and Islamic character education within Islamic Religious Education (PAI) as separate domains, leaving a conceptual gap regarding their pedagogical integration. This study aims to analyze how P5 values are operationally integrated with Islamic educational principles in character formation within the Independent Curriculum. This research employed a qualitative descriptive case study approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis involving school leaders, P5 coordinators, teachers, and parents. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by methodological and source triangulation to ensure credibility. The findings indicate that P5–PAI integration is implemented through a structured instructional process across three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. At the planning stage, P5 dimensions are aligned with Islamic character values within curriculum documents and lesson designs. Implementation occurs across intra-curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities through habituation-based religious practices and contextual learning. Evaluation emphasizes continuous character monitoring supported by teacher observation and home–school collaboration rather than solely academic assessment. This study contributes theoretically by conceptualizing an operational integration model of P5 and Islamic character education, positioning national character education policy as a pedagogical resource within Islamic education. Practically, the findings provide a contextual reference for educators and curriculum developers implementing P5 within PAI learning in alignment with the objectives of the Independent Curriculum

Abstract

Today’s global humanitarian crises—ranging from armed conflicts, refugee displacement, extreme famine, to ecological disasters—require an ethical framework capable of balancing universal human values with religious moral principles. Islamic ethics, grounded in the concept of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, which emphasizes the protection of life (ḥifẓ al-nafs), intellect (ḥifẓ al-‘aql), and human dignity (ḥifẓ al-‘ird), offers an important perspective in responding to contemporary humanitarian challenges. However, studies examining the direct application of Islamic ethics in modern humanitarian practices, particularly within digital spaces and online communities, remain limited. This research employs a netnography approach to explore digital interactions, narratives, and discourses related to humanitarian actions inspired by Islamic ethical values across social media platforms, community forums, and websites of Islamic philanthropic organizations. Data were collected through online participatory observation, analysis of digital conversations, and virtual in-depth interviews with humanitarian activists. The findings reveal that the values of rahmah (compassion), ‘adl (justice), and ukhuwwah insāniyyah (human solidarity) serve as key moral foundations, while social media functions not only as a fundraising tool but also as a space where Islamic ethics are interpreted and mobilized to address global issues such as climate crises, forced migration, and inequality.

Abstract

This research arises from the significance of effective educational approaches in improving students' engagement, especially in Islamic Education at SDIT AL-Hidayah Bogor. This research aims to create and implement storytelling techniques as a learning method that could enhance students' engagement. The research method used is a qualitative case study, with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation related to the application of storytelling methods in the school. The study results indicate that the storytelling method applied holistically through religious teaching with the subject "Stories of Righteous Children," as well as integration with the school's literacy program and student cultural presentations, has proven effective in enhancing student motivation. Additionally, regular training for educators and school community members also contributes to the successful implementation of this method. This research identifies challenges, including the conventional nature of storytelling methods, the lack of relevant context, and limitations in technology integration. Therefore, this study offers solutions by using more varied and contextual methods and utilizing digital media to enhance the appeal of learning. The novelty of this research lies in integrating storytelling methods within a broader context of religious education and emphasizing the importance of adapting technology in the learning process.

Abstract

Premarital sex and promiscuity have become significant issues among high school students. This qualitative study, using a phenomenological approach, investigates the implementation of al-Kulliyatul al-Khamsah (the five fundamental principles of Islam) in preventing these behaviors. The study focuses on: 1) the extent to which these principles (preserving religion, life, intellect, lineage, and wealth) are incorporated into the daily lives of adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Widodaren; 2) the correlation between the application of these principles and the prevalence of premarital sex and promiscuity; and 3) the challenges faced in promoting these principles within this context. Data was collected through interviews with students, parents, and teachers, as well as classroom observations over one semester. Findings indicate that the application of al-Kulliyatul al-Khamsah is effective in mitigating these issues. Keywords: promiscuity, fornication, puberty, fundamental principles of Islam
