Abstract

Virus-borne disease is a major constraint in increasing cucumber production in most cucumber planting sites in Indonesia including cucumber planting in Baturiti, Tabanan Bali. Based on the research of Balitsa (2006), it is generally said that the losses due to virus attack can range from 10% to 90%, depending on various aspects related to how the cultivation pattern is done. The existence of difficulties in the control of this virus encourages the effort to get a cucumber plant that resists viruses as problem solving. This study aimed to determine the cause of mosaic disease incidence in cucumber cultivation in Baturiti, Tabanan Bali and looked for cucumber varieties that are resistant to infection of viral pathogen causing the mosaic disease. The survey of disease incidence and symptom disease observation were done in several cucumber planting centers covering the whole plant population and the number of symptomatic plants in each observation location. For identification of the virus causing mosaic disease in the cucumber plant, the cucumber leaf sample showing symptoms was collected from several cucumber plant sites. Then the sample was tested by Elisa using the antiserum CMV, WMV and PRsV. For resistance tests, the cucumber varieties that were commonly grown by local farmers are mechanically transmitted from the CMV inoculum source sap. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the incidence of mosaic disease in cucumber cultivation in Baturiti, Tabanan Bali ranged between 83.59% and 85.21% and dominantly induced by CMV. There were no common varieties in locally grown farmers resistant to CMV, but the moderately sensitive Harmony varieties deserved attention to keep being cultivated.

Abstract

Hydroponics is the cultivation of plants by only utilizing water without using soil. The priority is to fulfill nutritional needs for plants. The water needed in hydroponic planting is certainly less than the water requirement in cultivating plants with soil. With the current condition of the area of ??agricultural land which is decreasing along with the increase in residential land and land conversion that is increasingly unable to be controlled. If left unchecked, of course, it will be very worrying about the supply of food that can be obtained from agriculture. To avoid shortages of food, new techniques are needed in the agriculture. For example, planting techniques that can be done without using soil media, namely by hydroponic techniques. Although planting is done in water, but hydroponic techniques require little water. So that hydroponic planting is very suitable to try in areas that have minimal water supply. In order to increase agricultural production, the government strongly supports efforts to develop agricultural technology and increase science and technology. The target of this hydroponic planting can be started from the household. In general, housewives who do not work have a lot of free time, so they can develop hydroponic vegetables in their yard. The benefits that can be obtained from planting hydroponic are making beautiful gardens and the results of hydroponic planting will provide nutritional intake for the family. A better benefit is being able to provide economic benefits to support the family economy.

Abstract

Mengani Village, Kintamani Subdistrict, Bangli Regency, is a partner village of the Faculty of Agriculture, Mahasaraswati University, Denpasar. The distance to the subdistrict capital is 17 km, and to the capital of Bangli Regency is 37 km, while the distance to the provincial capital is around 50 km. The land area of Mengani village is 437 hectares, of which 25 hectares are paddy fields, and the rest are plantations and yards. The Mengani village farmers have been planting well-adapted rice on the highlands, namely the Red Pilian variety which is rice with a red grain. But there is a belief that has been believed for generations that rice cultivation does not need to be fertilized either organic fertilizer or chemical fertilizers or pesticides. As a result, production per land area is very low at around 2-3 tons per hectare. Seeing such conditions, it is necessary to make efforts to increase the productivity of “Pilian Merah” rice organically through the making of organic rice demonstration plots by applying a good cultivation system that is good soil cultivation, planting young seedlings, planting only 2 seedlings, minimal water, fertilizing with organic fertilizer local, and the use of vegetable pesticides for the control of rice pests and diseases. The method of implementing science and technology is carried out through socialization, training, assistance, demonstration of organic rice plots. The results of the activity showed that there was an increase in farmers' knowledge about organic farming, from the initial 50% of farmers who did not understand to 100% understanding of organic farming, understanding of the dangers of synthetic chemical fertilizers to soil and environment from 70% of farmers who did not understand 100% understanding , understanding of the dangers of synthetic chemical pesticides to useful insects and the environment from the beginning 70% of farmers did not understand increased to100% understanding. Besides that, there was an increase in the skills of farmers in making organic fertilizers, which was originally 30% unskilled to 80% skilled, the skills of farmers in making organic pesticides originally 100% unskilled increased to 50% quite skilled. The conclusion that can be drawn from the implementation of science and technology is that the activities carried out related to the understanding and skills of farmers in supporting organic farming have succeeded in increasing farmers' understanding and skills so that sustainability in the field will run well.

Abstract

PKK Banjar Delod Pangkung is one of the PKK active in various government programs. Most PKK members are housewives who do not work formally. Day-to-day activities are used by mothers to meet, brama and parenting their children. Of course with these activities there is still plenty of free time available to develop hydroponics vegetables in the yard. The development of hydroponics vegetables in addition to beautify the yard and provide nutrient intake for the family also provides economic benefits to support the family economy. Hydroponic vegetables usually have short harvest periods, excess yields can be sold so that they can add to household income. The problems encountered through interviews and in-depth discussions with the head of the Banjar Delod Pangkung Environmental Office, namely members of the PKK are housewives who work in the non-formal sector such as traders in small stalls, caseworkers and some as farmers so that household income is still which is still relatively low. PKK has not been able to utilize the home yard as one source of family income. Expected output targets are (1) Hydroponic Farming System becomes one of the business opportunities that can improve quality, quantity and added value continuously. (2) Production of hydroponics vegetables can meet the needs of household at any time even the excess of harvest can be sold. (3) Increasing the value of community science and technology on PKK Banjar Delod Pangkung Desa Sukawati, Sukawati District Gianyar Regency.

Abstract

Tegal Harum is a village located in the city of Denpasar where two PKK groups in the village, namely PKK from Banjar Asta Bhuana and Buana Kubu, experienced problems in managing garbage. The density of the population in this area has implications for the abundant amount of waste produced. On the other hand, residents do not understand the waste management at the household level. So far, they only rely on garbage collectors who come to pick and manage the garbage from residents? homes. Some problems that occur as the garbage collectors do not come is having the garbage scattered by stray dogs or cats. Furthermore, ugly litters cause unpleasant odors, and even become homes for mosquitoes or mice which eventually sources of illness for the surrounding residents. PKM PKK Banjar Asta Bhuana and Buana Kubu aims at (1) in terms of environment: overcoming air pollution, eliminating the breeding grounds for disease vectors, and tackling floods and the potential for drainage pollution; (2) management aspects: increasing human resources in waste management at the household level with simple technology and training the management of waste disposal into organic fertilizer to improve soil quality; (3) aspects of the use of solid and liquid fertilizers: socializing the use of solid and liquid organic fertilizers as a result of household composters to replace the role of chemical fertilizers in fertilizing the soil and triggering the interest of PKK members to plant again in their home yard. The Community Partnership Program (PKM) of the PKK group in the self-management of organic waste was carried out through counseling and training methods. Counseling was carried out regarding the importance of environmental sanitation, sorting organic and inorganic waste, and using organic fertilizer. Then, training includes household waste management, simple use of home composter technology, and the procedure for harvesting solid and liquid fertilizers produced by the composter. From the activities that have been carried out, the results obtained are as follows: (1) PKK groups were able to carry out self-management of organic waste independently and sustainably through waste segregation and the use of composter technology, (2) production of solid and liquid organic fertilizers to meet fertilizer needs in households, and (3) improving partner's quality of life, health, and environment.

Abstract

Mustard is a horticultural product that is consumed by almost all levels of society everywhere including in Indonesia. Mustard or Caisim (Brassica juncea L.) belongs to the family of Brassicaceae, the leaves are long, smooth, hairless, and not cropped. Hydroponically cultivated plants grow twice as fast as conventional systems. This is due to direct contact between roots and oxygen, optimum acidity, and an increase in the balancing absorption of nutrients and nutrition. D.I.GROW Organic Fertilizer is Liquid Organic Fertilizer made from Ascophyllum nodosum, a type of Chocolate Seaweed taken from the North Atlantic Sea. Naturally, Ascophyllum nodosum, which contains abundant nutrition, such as: Macro Minerals, Micro Minerals, Amino Acids, Humic Acid, Gibberellins, Auxin, Cytokinins and various Nutrition elements needed by all types of Plants and Animals. It used during the Vegetative period. Stimulate and increase the growth of roots, stems, leaves and buds / tillers quickly with the correct dose used for vegetable leaves 3-5 ml / liter of water. The advantages of a hydroponic system are the using of lands does not need to be too extensive, plants are cultivated do not need soil, there is no risk of continuous planting throughout the year, the quantity and quality of production is higher and cleaner, used of fertilizer and the water more efficient, the plants period are shorter, used of pests and diseases more easily and environmentally friendly. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the concentration of liquid fertilizer suitable for using in mustard plants in hydroponic media is 3 mL / liter because it has the highest fresh weight above the base of the plant which is 37.78 grams which indicates maximum plant growth. This can be seen from giving of D.I.GROW 3 ml / L fertilizer has the highest plant height, number of leaves, fresh weight above and below of the base of the plant. The nutrients given to plants must be in the right composition. If deficiency or excess, it will be disturbed plant growth and the results obtained are less than optimal. Hydroponic nutrient solutions contain all micro and macro nutrients in appropriate amounts, hydroponic fertilizers are also more stable and dissolve quickly in water because they are in a purer form
