Abstract

Providing healthy food education for toddlers is one of the efforts in overcoming the problem of stunting. Providing education, counseling, and behavior change is included in the form of sensitive nutrition interventions, namely increasing awareness of parenting and nutrition for toddlers. The community service activity aims to increase the nutritional knowledge of mothers of toddlers on healthy and nutritious foods for toddlers and determine the relationship with the incidence of stunting. The methods used in this activity are lecturers delivering educational content directly to mothers of toddlers with the aid of visual media in the form of PowerPoint presentations. Pre and post-test questionnaires were given before and after education to measure the nutritional knowledge of mothers of toddlers. The nutritional knowledge scores obtained were statistically analyzed using Paired T-Test. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was a significant increase (p<0.05) in the mothers' knowledge scores before and after education. The service team also provided several examples of healthy foods for toddlers, especially complementary foods that are easy to make as an alternative to feeding children under five.

Abstract

Abstract

The era of digitalization gives complete freedom to individuals, both parents and children, especially regarding access to all the information disseminated on social media. Of course, the number of gadgets is increasing among children, which has positive and negative effects. Therefore, this service activity aims to socialize digital parenting as a parental strategy to educate their children to use gadgets in a more targeted and time-bound way to reduce the negative impact of gadget use among children. The approach that will be taken is to provide learning or knowledge about the importance of understanding digital education, having the ability to use mobile phones, being critical of the media, and giving understanding through good delivery. At Mulawarman University's community service activities in Jenebora Village with the Digital Parenting Socialisation Work Programme, we delivered educational material about the importance of parents in educating children in today's digital age, which both parents and children attended. It is hoped that through this socialization, parents will increase their supervision of their children. Parents also hoped that this socialization in educating children in the digital era would be the first step in avoiding the harmful effects of mobile phone use on children.

Abstract

This study evaluated the effectiveness of a daily home-based learning program implemented in Rumah Pintar, Pantai Lango. The program aimed to improve the academic skills of children aged 3-12 years who were experiencing learning difficulties. The intervention, conducted from July 12 to August 2, 2024, provided a structured learning environment outside of school hours. Participants were divided into groups based on their academic levels, addressing needs ranging from basic literacy and numeracy to English language learning. Results indicated that the program was successful in enhancing participants' abilities in reading, writing, and mathematics. However, challenges such as fluctuating daily attendance, attributed to a lack of parental awareness about the importance of home learning, were encountered. Despite these challenges, the program demonstrated the potential of non-formal, home-based learning initiatives in addressing the educational needs of children in underserved areas.
