Abstract

The Aneuk Jamee tribe has unique customs, one of which is the use of a kasab altar in wedding ceremonies, known as pelaminan meuracu tunggang baliak*. Each shape, motif, and color on this altar carries specific symbolic meanings. This research aims to describe the motifs and meanings in the pelaminan meuracu tunggang baliak of the Aneuk Jamee tribe in Tapaktuan District. Using qualitative methods and a descriptive approach, the study applies symbolic interaction theory to analyze the altar's motifs and meanings. The findings reveal the following: (1) colorful fans represent the king, commander, intelligence, and cleverness; (2) kaniang symbolizes men's and women's tongues; (3) meuracu refers to three kings; (4) banta gadang conveys parental messages to the younger generation about carrying on tradition; (5) banta basusun represents four parties from eight family groups; (6) dalansi symbolizes life, likened to plants, which reflect the nature of human existence; (7) the pandak mattress features the dalimo motif and intricate root patterns; and (8) butun fruit symbolizes the kings umbrella. Other symbolic elements include daluang and ceurano (betel containers).Suku Aneuk Jamee memiliki berbagai adat istiadat yang unik, salah satunya yaitu menggunakan pelaminan kasab dalam upacara pernikahan yang diberi nama pelaminan meuracu tunggang baliak. Dalam pelaminan meuracu tunggang baliak ini setiap bentuk, motif dan warna tersebut mempunyai makna atau arti tersendiri. Penelitian ini memepunyai tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan motif dan makna dalam pelaminan meuracu tunggang baliak suku Aneuk Jamee di Kecamatan Tapaktuan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif, menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dengan data primer dan data sekunder. Penelitian ini memakai teori interaksi simbolik untuk menggambarkan motif dan makna dari pelaminan tersebut. Motif dan makna dari pelaminan meuracu tunggang baliak suku aneuk jamee di Kecamatan Tapaktuan adalah (1) kipas warna-warni yang memiliki makna raja, hulubalang, cerdik dan pandai; (2) kaniang/lidah-lidah yang bermakna lidah perempuan dan lidah laki-laki; (3) meuracu yang diinterpretasikan sebagai tiga raja; (4) banta gadang diartikan sebagai pesan orang tua untuk anak muda yang akan menjadi penerus adat dan kehidupan; (5) banta basusun dimaknai sebagai empat pihak delapan kaum yaitu saudara dari orang tua yang merupakan kakak atau adik laki-laki dari orang tua; (6) Dalansi mewakili simbol tentang kehidupan di dunia ini yang diibaratkan dengan tumbuh-tumbuhan yang mempunyai filosofi menyimpan makna tentang hakikat kehidupan manusia; (7) tilam pandak ini memakai motif dalimo utuh dan akar berjalin dua petak dan empat petak dari akar yang bergolak; (8) buah butun merupakan simbol dari payung raja. Selain itu juga terdapat properti seperti daluang dan ceurano (tempat sirih).

Abstract

Microplastics will cause serious health problems if they are consumed by living creatures. The public's unwittingly disposing of garbage leads to increasing amounts of microplastic waste every day. The objective of the research is to examine the presence of microplastics in living creatures and to analyse what factors are causing society to engage in these non-conformist actions. The study was carried out on the Aceh Krueng River (Lambaro Bridge) in Greater Aceh district. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations of communities in the surrounding area. Research findings suggest that there are several kinds of plastic garbage found around the Lambaro Bridge riverway, such as: a. plastic packaging trash; and b. plastic glass trash. The effects of microplastics on living creatures are: a. for fish, they will affect a decrease in appetite and have a high potential for death. b. for zooplankton, affecting digestive disorders and acute and chronic effects of zooplanton. c. impact on humans, i.e., inflammation of organs and intestinal microbial disorders. The existence of plastic garbage is caused by non-conforming behaviour in the community, i.e., a. dumping in the river has become a bad habit; b. lack of public concern for the environment due to poor education; c. minimal interest in selling plastic waste to the wrappers; d. no punishment for the perpetrators of discreetly disposing of plastic waste; and e. minimum means and facilities of TPA in some locations

Abstract

Forest degradation in Aceh, particularly in Damaran Baru Village, has triggered ecological disasters that directly affect the lives of local communities, especially women. Motivated by environmental concern and a sense of responsibility, a group of women led by a female initiator established Mpu Uteun, a community-based forest protection initiative. This study aims to examine the roles and challenges faced by female initiators in preserving forest functions through the activities of Mpu Uteun. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with informants selected purposively. The findings reveal that Mpu Uteun plays a vital role in forest conservation through regular patrols, legal advocacy for social forestry permits, and community empowerment initiatives. However, their efforts are confronted by structural challenges, including gender bias, limited resources, and inadequate governmental support. This study highlights how women's leadership in environmental conservation not only overcomes social and institutional barriers but also redefines gender roles in sustainable natural resource governance.Abstrak: Kerusakan hutan di Aceh, termasuk di Kampung Damaran Baru, telah menimbulkan bencana ekologis yang berdampak langsung pada kehidupan masyarakat, khususnya perempuan. Berangkat dari kepedulian terhadap kondisi tersebut, sekelompok perempuan yang dipimpin oleh seorang inisiator membentuk Mpu Uteun, sebuah komunitas perlindungan hutan berbasis perempuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran dan tantangan yang dihadapi oleh perempuan inisiator dalam upaya pelestarian fungsi hutan melalui kelompok Mpu Uteun. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi, dengan informan yang dipilih secara purposif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok Mpu Uteun memiliki peran strategis dalam menjaga hutan melalui kegiatan patroli, advokasi perizinan hutan sosial, dan pemberdayaan masyarakat. Namun, keberhasilan mereka tidak lepas dari berbagai tantangan struktural, seperti bias gender, keterbatasan sumber daya, dan minimnya dukungan pemerintah. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan perempuan dalam konservasi hutan tidak hanya mampu mengatasi hambatan sosial, tetapi juga merekonstruksi peran gender dalam tata kelola sumber daya alam yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The escalating incidence of cybercrime in Indonesia has rendered older adults (lansia) one of the most vulnerable populations, primarily due to limited digital literacy and a lack of awareness regarding threats such as hoaks, identity theft, and online fraud. This study analyzes strategies for empowering older adults in digital security, focusing on the implementation of the Tular Nalar program by Mafindo in Aceh Besar District. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, and analyzed using Laverack’s community empowerment framework. The findings indicate that the program fostered active participation, expanded access to information, and strengthened social ties among participants. Facilitators played a crucial role in contextualizing digital security risks based on the lived experiences and local values of the lansia. However, the empowerment process has not yet resulted in collective autonomy, as participants remain reliant on facilitators and have not formed self-sustaining community structures. Disparities in digital literacy, expectations of incentives, and structural barriers further constrain the realization of community-driven empowerment. These results highlight that digital empowerment for older adults is not merely about increasing literacy, but is a complex social process rooted in local structures, cultural values, and community power dynamics. The application of Laverack’s model in this context underscores the need to integrate cultural values and locally grounded approaches into the design of sustainable empowerment strategies for older adults, while also addressing the persistent challenge of achieving community autonomy.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis representasi diri perempuan berhijab pengguna vape (hijaber vapers) di Kota Banda Aceh dalam konteks sosial yang sarat nilai religius dan norma patriarkal. Fenomena ini menarik karena memperlihatkan ketegangan simbolik antara citra religius yang melekat pada hijab dan gaya hidup modern yang diasosiasikan dengan penggunaan vape. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus dan teori interaksi simbolik dari George Herbert Mead sebagai kerangka analisis. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi terhadap perempuan berhijab berusia 18–25 tahun yang aktif menggunakan vape. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hijaber vapers memaknai vaping sebagai ekspresi kebebasan, pencitraan diri, dan bentuk resistensi simbolik terhadap ekspektasi sosial. Meskipun menghadapi stigma dan tekanan sosial, mereka menegosiasikan identitasnya melalui pemisahan makna antara religiusitas dan gaya hidup personal. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa representasi diri hijaber vapers dibentuk dalam ruang tarik-menarik antara agensi individu dan kontrol sosial, sekaligus membuka ruang baru bagi redefinisi identitas perempuan dalam masyarakat religius.

Abstract

The narrowing of the workplace is one of the reasons for the high unemployment rate in Indonesia. This unemployment is also experienced by Generation Z, who are in the territory of Indonesia in general and the province of Aceh in particular. Therefore, it takes skills and skills for Generation Z to get a job. In addition to being an alternative job, being a civilian apparatus of the state also helps the government to realize the golden generation in 2045 because who will be the PNS at that time many are from Generation Z. There are 3 main activities given during this training: provision of choosing the right formation and instance, provisioning provisions for passing grade CPNS approval, and provision filling answers at the time of the CAT test. These three main activities are the core activities that are mandatory, followed by Generation Z as an initial step for implementing the CPNS test in 2024. The results of this dedication demonstrate that the participants understand the material given. The hope of this activity is that the participants can pass the CPNS test in 2024.
