Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of the tuna handline business on ships based at the Cilacap Ocean Fisheries Port (PPS), Central Java. The financial analysis uses 6 indicators in determining business feasibility, including R/C Ratio, B/C Ratio, Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period (PP), and ROI (Return On Investment). Financial analysis based on 6 financial indicators obtained values including an R/C Ratio of 1.49, Payback Period (PP) for 4 years, Return On Investment (ROI) of 2.4%, Net Present Value (NPV) of IDR 3,738,751,559, B/C Ratio of 3.57 and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 48.2%. So that it can be stated that the tuna handline business is financially feasible.

Abstract

Purse seine or purse seine is one of the dominant fishing tools for catching pelagic (surface) fish which operates by circling schools (schooling) of fish. In the process of circling a school of fish, the bottom must be crimped immediately and quickly using a crimping rope or what is usually called a "drawstring" so that the fish remain in the circle and do not escape. This research was conducted from August to October 2019 on the north coast of Pekalongan, Java Sea. The application of hydraulically powered capstan axle crimp rope pulling machines on small scale vessels is expected to increase effectiveness, operational safety and efficiency of time and energy. Especially for purse seine ships <30GT and can increase catches which in turn can increase fishermen's income. Based on the test results, it was found that the driving diesel RPM without a pulling load = 1303 / 1530 RPM; Maximum RPM of the winding capstan spool when without a pulling load = 45 / 51.5 RPM; Maximum speed of winding capstan spools without tension load = 40.5 / 58.5 meters/minute; RPM of the driving diesel when pulling the purse seine line = 1500 RPM; Maximum RPM of the capstan winder spool when pulling the purse seine line at an average load = 43.2 RPM; Maximum RPM of the capstan winder spool when pulling the heaviest load (maximum) purse seine crimp rope = 40.1 RPM; Maximum pulling speed of the towing machine at the average load of pulling the purse seine crimp rope = 40.07 meters/minute; Maximum pulling speed of the towing machine when the heaviest load is pulling the purse seine crimp rope = 37.2 meters/minute; Load towing capability = detected ± 1000kg.

Abstract

Fishing gear with a good level of environmental friendliness will be selective in fishing, by choosing the right location and using net mesh sizes that can select the fish to be caught. For this reason, this study was carried out to analyze the composition of the catch from the Pocket Drag Net. The types of fish caught in percentage are as follows: swanggi fish (Priacanthus tayenus) at 29.9%; etong fish (Abalistes stellaris) by 11.2%; mackerel (Scomberomorus commerson) by 0.14%; tiger grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) by 1.5%; yellowtail fish (Caesio teres) by 1.7%; red snapper (Lutjanus sp.) by 0.7%; Stingray (Dasiatis zugei) at 1.5%; Kurisi fish (Nemipterus japonicus) amounted to 22.2%; Ray shark (Rhynchobatus australiae) by 1.15%; Brown (Scolopsis taeniopterus) by 21.2%; and Manyung (Netuma thalassina) at 7.9%. Based on the percentage composition of the catch, Swanggi fish is the highest main catch fish with a percentage of 29.9% and the lowest main catch fish is red snapper, namely 0.7%. Meanwhile, by-catch fish such as mackerel were also caught with a percentage of 0.14%.
