Abstract

Background: Anemia experienced by young women often occurs when they are menstruating. Young women must have knowledge about these conditions, so that they can overcome these problems properly. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education on the level of knowledge of adolescents about anemia. Methods: The research design used in this study was pre-experimental with a one-group pre-post test design approach. This research was conducted at the Islamic Boarding School of Tahfizh Putri Alfirdaus Hidayatullah, Sekardangan, Sidoarjo on February 28, 2021. The sampling technique used in this study was total sampling. The number of samples in this study were 24 respondents. This study uses health education materials about anemia for the treatment given and a modified questionnaire from Zulaekah's (2007) knowledge level questionnaire with a Cronbach Alpha value of .594. This research was conducted by providing health education to respondents about anemia. Before the health education was carried out, the researcher conducted a pre-test to measure the respondent's level of knowledge. After the health education was carried out, the researcher conducted a post-test to evaluate the respondents' level of knowledge about anemia. The statistical test carried out in this study is the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with significant level ? < 0.05. Results: Based on data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, it was found that there was an effect of health education on the level of adolescent knowledge about anemia (p-value = .011). Conclusion: It is important to provide health education about anemia to young women, so that they can find out what conditions they experience when they are anemic due to menstruation. Health workers are expected to provide this health education through health counseling or education.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the leading causes of death and it is caused by genetics, nutrition, and unhealthy behaviors. Therefore, changes in lifestyle associated with eating behaviors in diabetes mellitus patients greatly impact on their quality of life. There are many factors related with changes in lifestyle of diabetes mellitus patients, especially eating behaviors. Purpose: This study aims to examine the relationships between self-efficacy, psychological stress, family support, and eating behaviors among type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. Method: A total of 117 T2DM patients from the Sidoarjo Community Health Center were included in the analysis. Using SPSS IBM 21.0 program, Pearson product moment correlation was performed to analyze data. Results: The findings showed that self-efficacy and family support had a positive relationship with eating behaviors (r = .692, p < .001; r = .683, p < .001, respectively). Psychological stress had a negative relationship with eating behaviors (r = -.327, p < .001). Conclusion: Self-efficacy, family support, and psychological stress had relationships with eating behaviors. Nurses should pay attention to these factors that make T2DM patients having a long-term commitment in healthy eating behaviors.

Abstract

Objective: This integrative review aims to summarize and identify the current literature related to health behavior among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) Patients and its factors. Methods: An integrative review was undertaken using literature published between 2000 and 2013, based on CINAHL, Springer link, PubMed, Science Direct and Google Scholar. Results: Twenty-two articles were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. This review indicated a wide range of factors influencing health behavior among T2DM patients including predisposing factors (socioeconomic, knowledge, stress management, and health belief), reinforcing factor (family support), and enabling factor (health service). Conclusion: Family support, socioeconomic and knowledge are the significant major factors of health behavior among T2DM patients. However, the others factors such as stress management, health belief and health service are also the important factors for T2DM patient’s health behaviors. Therefore, these factors should be considered for development of appropriate interventions to promote health behavior among T2DM patients at community.

Abstract

Background: Many tuberculosis sufferers experience recurrent events due to incomplete treatment processes. It is often found that tuberculosis sufferers re-enter the hospital because the condition is getting worse. Thus, factors related to the successfulness of the treatment of tuberculosis warrant identification. Objectives: This review was to summarize and identify the current literature related to the successful treatment of tuberculosis and its factors. Design: A Whittemore and Knafl’s integrative review was used. Data Sources: Data sources included four electronic databases: EBSCO, PubMed, Science Direct and Google Scholar to search literature published between 2002 and 2017. Review methods: A systematic process was carried out to extract and analyze the data of all included studies. Results: A total of 146 articles were deemed appropriate for the topic, but only 28 articles were included based on inclusion criteria. It was found that a wide range of factors related to the successful treatment of tuberculosis, including predisposing factors (socioeconomic, knowledge, psychological stress, and availability to access health service), reinforcing factor (family support and social stigma), and enabling factor (physician and nurse support). Conclusion: Family support, socioeconomic, physician and nurse support, availability to access health services, social stigma, psychological stress, and knowledge were significant factors of the successful treatment of tuberculosis. For future research, the interventions to promote the program for decreasing the occurrence of the recurrent tuberculosis in the community need to consider these factors for the successful treatment of tuberculosis and collaborates with tuberculosis patients, family and health service for development of appropriate intervention.

Abstract

Health counseling activities given to adolescents about Obesity at the Islamic Boarding School of Tahfidz Putri Hidayatullah, Sidoarjo are a form of community service in the form of counseling aimed at the knowledge of young girls who are at the Islamic Boarding School of Tahfidz Putri Hidayatullah, Sidoarjo about obesity in order to welcome Children's Nutrition Day so that these young women are able to increase their knowledge related to the fulfillment of balanced nutrition according to the needs of their bodies. The activity will be held on January 28, 2022, at the Islamic Boarding School of Tahfidz Putri Hidayatullah, Sidoarjo. With the target is the young women who are in the Islamic Boarding School of Tahfidz Putri Hidayatullah, Sidoarjo. Prior to the implementation of these activities, there is a process of preparing activities for approximately 3 weeks before the activities are carried out, starting from determining the theme of the extension to applying for permits to the relevant parties. As a form of evaluation, the activity was attended by 30 young women, participants participated in the activity with great enthusiasm, health promotion activities could run on time and smoothly.

Abstract

The socialization related to the prevention of COVID-19 in the Health Polytechnic of Kerta Cendekia is a form of concern for the academic community of the Health Polytechnic of Kerta Cendekia in dealing with the spread of COVID-19 in the Health Polytechnic of Kerta Cendekia. This activity was carried out on August 20, 2021 at the Health Polytechnic of Kerta Cendekia campus. The implementation was attended by 90% of the Health Polytechnic of Kerta Cendekia academic community. This is because the Health Polytechnic of Kerta Cendekia academic community did not attend this event due to illness and was on guard at the Security Post to maintain security. The process of implementing this socialization activity was carried out for 3 weeks, starting from the coordination process of community service implementers, preparation, up to the evaluation of the implementation of the socialization activities. The activity went smoothly and the Health Polytechnic of Kerta Cendekia academics were very enthusiastic in participating in the implementation of this socialization activity. The entire Health Polytechnic of Kerta Cendekia academic community who participated in this socialization have been able to understand the implementation of the COVID-19 response and will carry out the implementation of the COVID-19 response in the Health Polytechnic of Kerta Cendekia and wherever they are.

Abstract

Improvement of knowledge of students at Ma'arif Vocational School regarding women's reproductive health through health promotion is one form of education in the form of counseling aimed at fostering and improving healthy behavior in young women, especially in recognizing women's reproductive health. Implementation of these activities on November 24, 2018 took place at Ma'arif Vocational School, Ngaban Road, Tanggulangin, Sidoarjo. With the goal is students of Ma'arif Vocational School, Ngaban Road, Tanggulangin, Sidoarjo. Before the implementation of these activities, there is a process of preparing activities for 3 weeks before the activities are carried out, starting from the selection of health counseling materials to the submission of permits to related parties. As an evaluation, the activity was attended by 40 students and 1 teacher, the participants participated in the activity with enthusiasm and conduciveness, the activities could be carried out on time smoothly. Keywords: Women reproduction, health promotion, student of vocational school.

Abstract

First Aid Health Promotion Activities in syncope cases at the Senior High School of Muhammadiyah 3 Sidoarjo, Tulangan Sub-District, Sidoarjo District is a form of education in the form of counseling aimed at increasing adolescent knowledge about first aid methods when encountering syncope cases. The activity was held on November 15, 2018 at the Senior High School of Muhammadiyah 3 Sidoarjo, Tulangan Sub-District, Sidoarjo District. With the goal is students of the Senior High School of Muhammadiyah 3 Sidoarjo, Tulangan Sub-District, Sidoarjo District. Before the implementation of the activity, there is a process of preparing activities for 3 weeks before the activities are carried out, starting from the selection of health counseling materials to the submission of permits to related parties. As an evaluation, the activity was attended by 35 students and 1 teacher as participants participating in the activity with enthusiasm and conduciveness, activities can be carried out on time smoothly. Keywords: Syncope, first aid health promotion, adolescent’s knowledge.

Abstract

First Aid Training in Accidents (P3K) in Youth Organization and Health Care Cadres in Rangkah Kidul Village is one form of community service in the form of counseling aimed at increasing the understanding and skills of the general public towards first aid in accidents. The implementation of these activities on December 7, 2019 took place at the Rangkah Kidul Village Hall, Sidoarjo District, Sidoarjo Regency. The target is Youth Organization and Health Cadre of Rangkah Kidul Village, Sidoarjo. Before the activity is carried out, there is a process of compiling the activity for approximately 2 months before the activity is carried out, starting from determining the theme of the training to applying for permission to the parties concerned. As a form of evaluation, the activity was attended by 28 participants consisting of Health Cadres, Youth Organization, Village Officials, Head of RT / RW, and LKMD representatives. Participants participated in the activity with enthusiasm and seemed very enthusiastic, the training activities could run on time and smoothly. Abstract

Health promotion activities on clean and healthy living behavior at the Elementary School of Rangkah Kidul, Sidoarjo is one form of community service in the form of counseling aimed at increasing children's knowledge about the importance of clean and healthy living behaviors in daily activities. The activity was carried out on November 18, 2019 at the Elementary School of Rangkah Kidul, Sidoarjo. The target is the students of the Elementary School of Rangkah Kidul, Sidoarjo. Before the activity is carried out, there is a process of compiling the activity for approximately 3 weeks before the activity is carried out, starting from determining the theme of counseling to submitting permits to the parties concerned. As a form of evaluation, the activity was attended by 40 students from class III of the Elementary School of Rangkah Kidul, Sidoarjo.
