This study aims to determine the type of personification figure of speech and the general meaning of personification in Robert Frost’s selected poems entitled (Leave Compared With Flowers, The Road Not Taken, Stopping By Woods On A Snow Evening, Christmas Tree, Pan With Us, The Tuft of Flowers, The Trial by Existence, The Generation Of Men, Home Burial, O Erathward, Wind and Window Flower, Bond and Free, and Spoils of The Dead. Based on the use of personification figure of speech in Robert Frost’s poetry, the researcher knows the most dominant type of personification. Personification figure of speech has 2 types, namely prosopographia and prosopopopeia. The data of this research are documents from some selected poems by Robert Frost’s poems. In this study, the researcher used document analysis as a method and technique of data analysis. From the results of the study, researchers found 24 personifications. Then the researcher concludes that from the two types of personification figure of speech found in Frost’s poems, there are 6 prosopographia and 18 prosopopopeia. From this data, it can be seen that the dominant type used is prosopopopeia.

Community service in form of practical tourism and foreign language training for local merchants and guides in Penglipuran tourist village, Bangli regency was aimed at improving the knowledge of Japanese tourism and vocabulary and English in accordance with the appropriate grammar. The targets in this training were local merchants and guides in Penglipuran village who had less knowledge about tourism and the proper usage of foreign language. Not only the training of tourism and practical foreign languages, local merchants and guides were also given knowledge about the characteristics of domestic and international tourists, as well as ways of serving the tourists in accordance with the agreed standards. The special target of this dedication was to find a social formula to solve the problems that occurred in the tourist village of Penglipuran. The fostering system implemented so far was less effective so that it led to a decline in knowledge about tourism and foreign languages for local merchants and guides who were the tourism actors expected to provide correct information to the tourists. If this was left unchecked, the number of tourist arrivals and local merchants and guides who had international standard capability would continue to decrease annually. The method of devotion used was the workshop and FGD so that the results of teaching could be understood by Penglipuran village management to continue to conduct trainings that educate local merchants and guides.

The study concerns with the types of figurative language in the song lyric found in ‘Positions’ album by Ariana Grande. The researcher assumed that the figure of speech in the song lyrics are interesting to analyse. The study aims to analyse the types of figurative language in the song lyrics and analyse the meaning that conveys in the song lyric that contains figurative language. This study uses qualitative method to conduct a clear and well-organized description problems that identified. The data were taken from the song lyric and analysed by applying theory types of figurative language by Knickerbocker and Renninger (1963) and theory of meaning by Leech (1981). The study concludes that the figurative language used in the song lyric to deliver a message that the singers want to deliver to the listener of the song, and there are several meanings that conveyed due to understand what the figurative language in the song lyric means. In the Positions album by Ariana Grande found 10 data of figurative language, there are all 1 data of simile, metaphor, personification, synecdoche, metonymy, hyperbole, irony, paradox, dead metaphor and allusion.

The title of this article is Code Switching Used by Deny Sumargo in His Youtube Video Curhat Bang with Onadio Leonardo. This article focuses on finding utterances that contain Code-switching action. The goals of this article are to analyze the types of Code-switching that uttered by Deny Sumargo and his Guest Onadio Leonardo in his YouTube video. To answer the problem of this article, the researcher analyzes based on the theory Hoffman (1991). Descriptive qualitative method is the method that applied in analyzing the data by explaining descriptively the utterances that contain code switching into each type based on Hoffman’s (1991) classification. The results of this study are presented in three types of Code-switching, the first is Intra-sentential code-switching, second is Inter-sentential code-switching, and last is tag-switching.

Abstract - Flouting maxims happens when speakers may flout a maxim or they fail to fulfil the maxims of Cooperative Principle to convey hidden meaning in their utterances. This study is concerned on finding out the types of flouting maxims that used by the characters in the movie A Star Is Born. This study was applied the theory of pragmatics from Grice (1975) to find out the types of flouting maxims and supported theory of context of situation from Halliday and Hasan (1989). The data were collected by direct observation method and analysed by descriptive qualitative method. The finding is presented in formal and informal method. Our finding shows that there are four types of flouting maxims which predominantly used by the characters in the movie A Star Is Born, they are: flouting maxim of quantity (45%), flouting maxim of quality (10%), flouting maxim of relevance (30%) and flouting maxim of manner (15%). This study entitled An Analysis of Types of Imperative Sentence Found in Call of Duty Modern Warfare Campaign. This research aims to find out the types of imperative sentence Call of Duty Modern Warfare Campaign. The theory used in this research is theory proposed by Quirk et. al. (1985) in their book entitled A Comprehensive of English Language about types of imperative sentence which consist five types of imperative sentence in this research, there are Imperative without subject, imperative with subject, imperative with let, Negative imperative and imperative with do and to determine the constituent structure by using tree diagram based on the theory proposed by Brown and Miller (1991). The data were collected through documentation method by playing and record the game, note taking and classifying the data based on imperative sentence. The analysis of the data was conducted qualitative method and presented decrepitly. The method that applied in presenting the result of the analysis were used formal and informal method. This study entitled The Types of Flouting Maxim found in Alice in Wonderland movie. The study aimed to find out the types of flouting maxim used by characters. This study focused on Grice (1975) about the types of flouting maxim. This study applied the descriptive qualitative method in analyzing the data. To get valid data, this study used note-taking as a technique. The findings showed that there are 4 types of flouting maxim used by the characters. The result of the study showed that the types of flouting maxim found in the movie are 25 data. The dominant flouting maxim uttered by the characters in this movie is the flouting maxim of relevance with the frequency 10 (40%). The findings shows that the most dominant flouting maxim used by the characters is the flouting maxim of relevance because the characters in this movie try to hide the main character's existence by changing the topic in the conversation. Abstract The purpose of this study is to illustrate the types and functions of code switching presented in Cinta Laura Kiehl's YouTube video. In the collection of data, the non-participatory method of observation Sugiyono was introduced (2009:15). Hoffman's theory (1996) is referred to in the study of data in order to analyze the forms of code switching, and Gumperz's theory (1982) is referred to in order to analyse the functions of code switching. It is done formally and informally to show the product of the analysis. The writer finds three types of code switching after analysing the results. There are intra-sentential 8 data, inter-sentential 2 data and emblematic switching is do not found data related. In the meantime, code switching has four functions; personalization versus objectification, reiteration, interjection, message qualification. This implies that there are two functions in the data that do not appear; quotation and addressee specification, since the utterance by Cinta Laura Kiehl never quote the opinions of other people or switch to direct the message to one or more potential addresses. Abstrak Tujuan dari peneltian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan tipe dan fungsi alih kode yang disajikan dalam vidio Youtube Cinta Laura Kiehl. Dalam pengumpulan data diperkenalkan metode observasi non partisipatif Sugiyono (2009: 15). Teori Hoffman (1996) digunakan dalam studi data untuk menganalisis bentuk alih kode, teori Gumperz (1982) digunakan untuk menganalisis fungsi alih kode. Ini di lakukan secara formal dan informal untuk menunjukan produk analisis. Penulis menemukan tiga jenis alih kode setelah menganalisis hasilnya. Data intra-sentential terdapat 8 data, data inter-sentential 2 dan switching simbolik tidak ditemukan data terkait. Semetara itu, alih kode memiliki emapat fungsi; Personalisasi versus objektifikasi, pengulangan interjeksi, kualifikasi pesan. Ini menyiratkan bahwa ada dua fungsi dalam data yang tidak muncul; Kutipan dan spesifikasi penerima, karena ucapan Cinta Laura Kiehl tidak pernah mengutip pendapat orang lain atau beralih untuk mengarahkan pesan ke sautu atau beberapa alamat potensial.

In order to analyze further regarding to the phenomenon of flouting maxim in conversation, this study is concerned to describe the types of conversational maxim flouted by the main characters in Green Book movie through the theory of Cooperative Principle (Grice, 1975). In conducting this study, the descriptive qualitative approach is used to analyze the data. The study has found that all types of conversational maxim are flouted by the main characters in the movie, with the flouting maxim of quantity as the most dominant type in which as many as 31 (38,75%) occurences, followed by the flouting maxim of relation with 28 (35%) occurences. As for the lower ranks in the number of occurences consist of the flouting maxim of quality with 12 (15%) occurences and finally, the flouting maxim of manner with 9 (11,25%) occurences as the least dominant type of flouting maxim found in the movie. The situation in which people involved in a conversation failed to obey the maxims is known as the non-observance maxims. This research focuses on finding the types of non-observance maxims performed by the main character during the conversation in the Knives Out movie. The theory from Grice (1975), supported by Thomas (1995), applied to find out the types of non-observance maxims. The data of this research were collected by using the document analysis method and analysed by combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The finding presents that there are three types of non-observance maxims performed by the main character in the Knives Out movie. It consists of flouting maxim of relevance (50%), violating maxim of quality (37,5%), and violating maxim of relevance (12,5%). The finding explains that the main character in the Knives Out movie tend to break the maxim by giving an irrelevant answer compared to the topic of discussion.
