Abstract

Stunting is a childhood condition that experiences growth disorders characterized by a child's height that is not appropriate for their age and results from chronic nutritional problems. This study analyses the risk factors for stunting in West Tulang Bawang Regency. This study was a cross-sectional study. Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires from 265 mothers of children under five in three West Tulang Bawang Regency districts. This research used multivariate logistic regression to determine risk factors for stunting. The study assessed that 10.9% of their children were stunted. Nearly half of the mothers had low education (48.7%), and most did not work (79.6%). As many as 94.3% of mothers said they had a protected source of drinking water, while around 23.4% did not have sewerage. Most of the respondent's energy, fat, and carbohydrate adequacy level was classified as insufficient, and most children did not suffer from infectious diseases. The results of the correlation test showed that sewerage (AOR=4.309; p-value=0.000) was correlated with the occurrence of stunting, while a history of measles (AOR=3.482; p-value=0.150), energy adequacy level (AOR=2.691; p-value=0.057), birth order (AOR=2.949; p-value=0.050) not significantly correlated to stunting but had a high risk of stunting. Multivariate test results showed that no sewerage in families had a risk of about 4.192 times the occurrence of stunting in children compared to the presence of sewerage in West Tulang Bawang Regency.

Abstract

The findings from the 2021 Indonesian Nutritional Status Study reveal a substantial 24.4% prevalence of child stunting, emphasizing the need for diverse strategies to achieve the desired target. One such strategy involves ensuring the nutritional well-being of expectant mothers to prevent stunting. Moringa leaves are a rich source of essential nutrients. Incorporating Moringa leaf powder into catfish flour-based snacks can boost their protein and mineral content while overcoming any undesirable odors, though this application is currently limited to crackers. This study aimed to create snack products using Moringa leaves, such as tea, brownies, and pudding, with the addition of ginger to enhance dietary fiber and mineral content for pregnant women. The top formulations identified through sensory assessment are F1 tea, F1 brownies, and F2 pudding. These specific tea, brownies, and pudding variations boast dietary fiber content exceeding 3 grams and meet or exceed 15% of the recommended daily intake levels for iron and zinc for pregnant women, as stipulated by the nutrition label reference. As a result, they can be classified as wholesome snacks rich in dietary fiber, iron, and zinc.

Abstract

Malnutrition affects 13-69% of people receiving care in hospitals worldwide. Anthropometric examinations reveal that 50% of patients in hospitals suffer from malnutrition. Patient psychology during the healing process is affected by a number of factors, including the patient's level of satisfaction with the hospital food service. The purpose of this study was to determine how the nutritional health of patients at DKT Hospital Bandar Lampung is related to satisfaction with food service and macronutrient consumption. This study uses a cross-sectional strategy as a design or analytical observational research plan. The sample used in this study was 47 respondents selected using the simple random sampling method. The bivariate test used in this study is the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between food service satisfaction and patient nutritional status (p-value = 0.013) and there was a relationship between macronutrient intake and patient nutritional status (energy = 0.023, protein = 0.035, fat = 0.021, carbohydrates = 0.045). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between food service satisfaction and macronutrient intake with the nutritional status of patients at DKT TK IV hospital 02.07.04 Bandar Lampung.

Abstract

Nutritional status describes an individual's health condition based on their Body Mass Index (BMI), which is categorized into levels such as severely underweight, mildly underweight, normal, mildly overweight, and severely overweight. Factors influencing nutritional status include eating habits and social media exposure. Eating habits refer to the regular practices or patterns adopted by an individual to fulfill physiological, social, and emotional needs through the consumption of necessary food for adequate nutritional intake. Meanwhile, prolonged exposure to social media can lead to an individual frequently encountering recommended posts, including food-related content, thereby increasing the desire to try those foods. Currently, in Indonesia, some platforms that provide online food delivery services are GoFood, GrabFood, and Shopee Food. The general aim of this study is to determine the relationship between online food purchasing and eating habits with the nutritional status of college students living in boarding houses in Bandar Lampung city. The research method used in this study is quantitative, employing a cross-sectional approach. Data collection was conducted using a microtoise to measure height, a stepping scale to measure weight, a modified SQ-FFQ form to assess eating habits, and a questionnaire to evaluate online food purchasing behavior. The chi-square test results indicate a p-value of 0.187, demonstrating no significant relationship between eating habits and the nutritional status of college students living in boarding houses in Bandar Lampung. In contrast, the chi-square test results indicate a p-value of 0.004, showing a significant relationship between online food purchasing and the nutritional status of these students. College students are advised to be more cautious when choosing foods, considering health factors and avoiding the influence of images or videos of food that might affect eating behaviors.

Abstract

Nutritional status is a picture of a person's body as a result of the food consumed in the body. Nutritional status can influence nutritional problems and nutritional problems can occur in all age groups. One factor that can influence a child's nutritional status is the mother's nutritional knowledge and eating patterns. A good diet can meet nutritional needs, while a poor diet can cause nutritional problems, such as undernutrition or overnutrition. The knowledge of parents, especially mothers, about eating patterns greatly influences nutritional status. This research aims to determine the relationship between the level of maternal knowledge and children's eating patterns with children's nutritional status among students at SDN 14 Way Serdang. This research was carried out using a quantitative, analytical observational approach with a cross sectional approach design. The population of this study was all class III students at SDN 14 Way Serdang with a sample of 61 people. This research instrument for maternal knowledge uses a nutritional knowledge questionnaire in the form of 20 questions, eating patterns using a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ), and nutritional status using scales and micrometers. Univariate and bivariate data analysis using the chi-square test. The results of this study showed that of the 61 samples there were 31.0% overeating patterns, 36.0% of respondents with insufficient knowledge, and 28.0% of respondents with excess nutritional status. The results of the chi-square test showed that there was a relationship between mother's knowledge and the child's nutritional status (p=0.001), there was a relationship between the child's diet and the child's nutritional status (p=0.001). Based on this research, it is hoped that mothers will pay more attention to their children's diet in order to achieve normal nutritional status for their children.

Abstract

Anemia is a medical condition that typically arises when there is a significant decrease in the number of red blood cells in the body. During pregnancy, anemia generally occurs in the first and third trimesters with hemoglobin (Hb) levels below 11 g%, and in the second trimester with Hb levels below 10.5 g%. This study aims to examine the relationship between dietary patterns and physical activity with the incidence of anemia among pregnant women in the working area of Puskesmas NoN Rawat Inap Indraloka Jaya, Way Kenanga District, Tulang Bawang Barat Regency. This descriptive correlational study employs a cross-sectional design conducted from July 10 to 16, 2024. The sampling method used is total population sampling, with the sample size equal to the total population of 68 individuals. The statistical test applied is the Chi-Square test. Data collection was performed through interviews and Hb checks using a GcHB digital device. The results show that the majority of pregnant women with inadequate dietary patterns have anemia (23.5%), while those with light physical activity and anemia account for (25.0%). Statistical test findings indicate a significant correlation between dietary patterns and the incidence of anemia with a P-value of 0.000, and a significant relationship between physical activity and the occurrence of anemia with a P-value of 0.000. This suggests that the relationship between dietary patterns, physical activity, and the incidence of anemia is very strong.
