Short stories are a form of literary work that offers various kinds of life problems, as well as problems with humans and their humanity. The short story Teken Pang Neken appears as a literary work that describes a hidden phenomenon or perhaps actually open but considered hidden. Departing from this, the research will explore more deeply the main character's self-concept in dealing with various interventions that lead to him. The research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method with a psycho-objective approach. Data was collected using literature study using note-taking techniques and then analyzed using Rogers' personality theory and Higgins' discrepancy theory. The research results are described based on the dimensions of knowledge, hope and self-assessment of Ngurah Toni as the main character. Knowledge of oneself is reflected in the name and position of the equipment being held. Hope refers to the safe position that one aspires to as the ideal self in the future. Firmness in maintaining integrity amidst the onslaught of intervention gave rise to a positive assessment of Ngurah Toni.

Abstract

Literature is very closely related to society. As time goes by, many literary works also experience developments that people are not aware of, giving rise to modern Balinese literary works. One of the modern Balinese literary works is the short story. Short story is a type of prose where the content of the story is not a real event and is just made up. Short story tends to be short, concise, and straight to the point when compared to other longer works of fiction such as novels. In this modern Balinese literary work, it can be used as a medium to channel the aspirations of Balinese krama, as is the case in the short story literary work entitled “Mamadu” by Ketut Sariani. In this research, the researcher will discuss the analysis of intrinsic elements and social conditions in the short story Mamadu by Ketut Sariani

Abstract

The phenomenon of fatherlessness in Indonesia is an issue that cannot be ignored, considering the importance of the role of fathers in character formation, emotional well-being, and family economic stability. The figure of the father not only functions as a breadwinner, but also as an educator, role model, and the main supporter in the development of children. Active father involvement contributes to the child's psychological balance, preventing negative impacts such as low self-confidence, difficulties in building social relationships, and an increased risk of mental problems. In addition, the role of men in society also contributes to community strengthening and inclusive social development. This service activity aims to increase public awareness of the importance of the presence and involvement of fathers and men in family and social life. One form of implementation of this program is the organization of a letter writing competition for fathers as a medium of reflection and appreciation. This activity is expected to be able to build collective awareness about the importance of the father figure, strengthen emotional relationships in the family, and encourage the community to appreciate the role of men in various aspects of life. Thus, this activity contributes to building a culture of appreciation for the role of fathers and encourages the active participation of men in forming a more harmonious family and community.

Abstract

The teaching profession plays a crucial role in shaping the future of younger generations. However, in many regions, the welfare and recognition of teachers do not align with the significance of their contributions to society. This social inequality serves as one of the main inspirations behind I Made Sugianto’s literary work, particularly his short story Guru Abdi, featured in the collection Ngipiang Jokowi. This study aims to explore how the short story reflects the psychological experiences of teachers, especially in relation to self-concept and societal recognition. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through literary analysis and interviews. The study applies Carl Rogers' theory of self-concept, supported by Higgins' discrepancy theory, to analyze the main character, Kadek Arya. The findings reveal a state of congruence in Kadek Arya’s self-concept despite facing numerous challenges, which fosters a consistent positive attitude. Although moments of fear and anxiety-indicative of agitation-related self-do emerge, they do not diminish his overall optimism and dedication. This research concludes that literary works such as Guru Abdi can serve as reflective mediums that highlight the inner strength and resilience of teachers in the face of societal undervaluation.

Abstract

Abstract

The Vedas are the source of knowledge, as the root word Vid means knowledge. The Sruti Vedas explain the importance of the faculty of speech. Vak (speech) in the Veda is related to Saraswati, namely the ability to speak or vicara (speaking-verbal communication). This research is a qualitative research that focuses on the text. Text research, researchers are dealing with various texts that are ready to be studied and explored. Data obtained through observation and literature study methods. In this case the texts studied are the Vedas and Hindu Literature which are related to the object of research in the field of communication. The theory used is hermeneutics. The Hindu Vedic tradition of thought inherits many philosophical schools, and as such incorporates a wide range of resources that can be studied in relation to the discipline of communication. The need is to explore, reinterpret and re-contextualize texts in a new light. The scope of communication discourse from a Hindu perspective is very broad, but the discourse is limited to a limited domain. Theories and methods of communication are extensively discussed in Sanskrit texts such as Bharata's Nāṭyaśāstra, Bhartrihari's Vakyapadiya, and Panini's Astadhyayi. Likewise, speech and rhetoric are widely discussed in the classic anviksiki texts which are the knowledge of Medhatiti Gautama
