Abstract

This article revisits the concept of asabiyyah in Ibn Khaldun’s thought as a foundation for critiquing the crisis of modern civilisation. In a global context marked by material progress, social fragmentation, and the erosion of solidarity, the idea of asabiyyah offers a moral and social framework relevant to understanding the dynamics of contemporary society. This study employs a qualitative approach using the historical-philosophical hermeneutic method to interpret the text of Al-Muqaddimah and relate it to modern social problems. The analysis reveals that asabiyyah, which originally arose from the Bedouin tribal way of life as a force of solidarity and social loyalty, represents a moral energy that gives birth to civilisation and political power. However, asabiyyah tends to weaken when society becomes immersed in luxury and egoism. In the modern context, this concept can be reread as a call to build a new form of solidarity grounded in values, ethics, and social responsibility. The study concludes that Ibn Khaldun’s thought remains relevant as a critical reflection on the challenges of social disintegration and moral crisis in modern civilisation.

Abstract

This research discusses Muhammad Iqbal’s Islamic educational philosophy and its relevance in the context of modern education. This study is motivated by concerns about the current direction of education, which tends to become trapped in materialistic and instrumental orientations, thereby neglecting the moral and spiritual dimensions of the human being. Using a qualitative approach with a library research method, this study examines Iqbal’s major works such as The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam, Asrar-i-Khudi, and Rumuz-i-BeKhudi, as well as various secondary sources that explore the influence and actualisation of his ideas in the field of education. The findings indicate that Iqbal’s philosophy of education is rooted in the concept of Khudi, namely human self-awareness as a being endowed with creative and spiritual potential to realise divine values in life. According to Iqbal, education must be a process of shaping individuals who are dynamic, independent, and responsible towards themselves and society. He rejects educational models that blunt creativity and focus solely on memorisation, as such approaches distance human beings from their true nature as free and creative beings. In the context of modern education, Iqbal’s ideas are relevant as a foundation for reforming the Islamic education system towards a balance between reason and faith, freedom of thought and moral responsibility, as well as intellectual advancement integrated with spiritual depth. This research emphasises that the actualisation of Iqbal’s thought in modern education can serve as a philosophical basis for developing an educational paradigm that is humanistic, transcendental, and contextual to contemporary challenges. By integrating spiritual values and rationality, Islamic education has the potential to produce individuals who are not only intellectually capable but also possess strong character, faith, and ethical awareness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze current issues in multicultural Islamic education and examine its implications and developmental direction in the global era. Multicultural Islamic education is understood as a paradigm that emphasizes the universal Islamic values of justice, tolerance, and brotherhood as the foundation for living together within diversity. This research employs a literature review method by examining scientific works published between 2015 and 2025 through a descriptive-analytical approach to identify foundational concepts, contemporary issues, implementation challenges, and both theoretical and practical implications. The findings show that multicultural Islamic education still faces problems such as intolerance, radicalism, curriculum homogenization, and weak teacher competence in inclusive pedagogy. These challenges are intensified by globalization and the digitalization of values, which influence the mindset of younger generations. Therefore, Islamic education needs to be developed in a humanistic, contextual, and adaptive manner through integrative curriculum reform, character strengthening based on universal Islamic values, and interdisciplinary collaboration to build more inclusive and civilized learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Islamic higher education through the perspective of the Methodology of Scientific Research Programmes developed by Imre Lakatos. This approach is employed to understand how the epistemological structure of Islamic education can be developed progressively without losing the revelatory values as its fundamental core. The study adopts a qualitative method with a library research design, in which data are collected from various literature sources such as books, journals, and relevant scholarly works. The findings indicate that the application of the concepts of hard core, protective belt, and a series of theories within Islamic higher education can serve as a methodological framework that maintains a balance between the Islamic intellectual tradition and modern scientific innovation. Through Lakatos’s approach, Islamic higher education is expected to develop research that is progressive, rational, and grounded in spiritual values, thereby enabling it to respond to the challenges of globalization and digitalization without losing its epistemological identity. Accordingly, Lakatos’s research programme methodology has the potential to become a new paradigm in the development of Islamic epistemology that is dynamic, adaptive, and sustainable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of contemporary literature on human rights law (HAM) from an Islamic and international legal perspective through a bibliometric approach using the R Biblioshiny software. This study uses a bibliometric method with a quantitative analysis of scientific publications obtained from the Scopus database for the period 2020–2025. The collected data includes 1,463 articles from 556 sources with contributions from 2,027 authors, which were then analyzed using performance analysis and science mapping techniques. The results of the analysis show that although the number of publications is quite large, the annual growth rate has decreased by -4.93% and the citation trend tends to weaken, indicating that the academic impact of this research still needs to be improved. Thematically, the study shifts from normative issues such as non-discrimination and self-determination to contemporary global issues such as geopolitical conflict, justice, and international human rights law. The largest contributions come from Western countries, especially the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States, while participation from Global South countries, including Indonesia, is starting to emerge, although still limited. These findings confirm that human rights studies are not only influenced by normative legal dimensions but are also multidisciplinary and influenced by global realities, thus opening up space for integrating Islamic and international legal perspectives in formulating a more inclusive approach. Therefore, further research is recommended to strengthen international collaboration networks, increase the visibility of publications, and encourage broader involvement from developing countries to build a more representative and contextualized human rights discourse.

Abstract

This study discusses the use of Quick Response (QR) Code technology in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at senior high schools as an innovative strategy to improve the effectiveness and quality of the learning process. The study employs a literature review method by analyzing various national and international research related to the application of QR Codes in education. The findings show that integrating QR Codes enables teachers to present Islamic Religious Education materials such as Qur’anic verses, hadiths, explanatory videos, and discussion resources in a varied, interactive, and easily accessible way anytime and anywhere. The use of QR Code based media has been proven effective in enhancing students’ motivation, learning outcomes, creativity, and critical thinking skills. In addition, this technology supports character development and independent learning aligned with the demands of 21st-century education. Thus, implementing QR Codes in Islamic Religious Education learning has the potential to be a relevant, practical, and adaptive approach to enriching students’ learning experiences and supporting the achievement of Islamic education goals in the digital era.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tren dan arah perkembangan riset bertema Pendidikan Islam untuk Generasi Muda di Sekolah Dasar pada periode 2017–2025. Pendidikan Islam memiliki peran strategis dalam pembentukan karakter, moral, dan spiritual anak sejak usia dini, sehingga perlu dikaji secara ilmiah bagaimana perkembangannya dalam konteks globalisasi dan era digital. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan bibliometrik dengan memanfaatkan data publikasi dari basis data internasional yang diolah melalui perangkat lunak Biblioshiny (Bibliometrix for R). Analisis dilakukan melalui dua tahap utama, yaitu analisis deskriptif untuk mengidentifikasi produktivitas publikasi, penulis, dan afiliasi teratas; serta analisis jaringan untuk memetakan kolaborasi penulis dan keterkaitan tematik antar kata kunci. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam jumlah publikasi dengan pertumbuhan tahunan sebesar 22,28%, melibatkan 94 penulis dari berbagai institusi di Asia Tenggara, terutama Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, dan Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Tema dominan mencakup Islamic education, character, dan elementary school, yang menegaskan fokus riset pada integrasi nilai-nilai Islam dan pendidikan karakter dalam kurikulum sekolah dasar. Selain itu, mulai muncul tema baru seperti digital learning, affective approach, dan inclusive education sebagai respons terhadap perubahan sosial dan teknologi pendidikan. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa kajian pendidikan Islam di sekolah dasar tengah berkembang menuju arah yang lebih humanis, inklusif, dan multidisipliner, dengan potensi besar dalam memperkuat pendidikan karakter generasi muda yang religius, moderat, dan adaptif terhadap tantangan global.

Abstract

The present study analyzes Eid al-Fitr as a socio-religious phenomenon from the perspective of cultural anthropology by examining the interconnections between rituals, symbols, and social practices that develop within the context of Indonesian Muslim communities. Employing a qualitative approach based on an extensive literature review, this research explores various elements of Eid al-Fitr, including the homecoming tradition (mudik), halal bihalal gatherings, takbir parades, zakat al-fitr, ketupat, new clothing, and the accompanying social dynamics. Thematic analysis is used to identify processes of meaning-making, symbolic representation, social functions, and cultural transformations embedded within the ritual cycle of Eid al-Fitr. The findings reveal that Eid al-Fitr constitutes a “ritual complex” that integrates spiritual, social, and cultural dimensions. Mudik strengthens kinship networks and ancestral identity, halal bihalal functions as a mechanism of social reconciliation, and Eid symbols reinforce moral values, purification, and collective solidarity. Drawing on the theories of Geertz, Turner, and Durkheim, this study demonstrates that Eid al-Fitr is not merely an annual religious observance but also a cultural institution that sustains social cohesion, traditional continuity, and the religious identity of Indonesian Muslims in the midst of social change and modernity.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perkembangan kajian ilmiah mengenai moderasi beragama dalam pendidikan agama Islam di tingkat global selama periode 2013–2025. Moderasi beragama menjadi isu strategis dalam pendidikan Islam karena berperan penting dalam membentuk karakter peserta didik yang toleran, inklusif, dan berwawasan kebangsaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan bibliometrik dengan bantuan perangkat lunak R Biblioshiny untuk memetakan tren publikasi, kolaborasi penulis, serta fokus tematik penelitian yang berkembang. Data diperoleh dari basis data Scopus dengan menggunakan kata kunci “religious moderation”, “Islamic moderation”, dan “education”, menghasilkan 253 dokumen dari 95 sumber publikasi dengan total 738 penulis dan tingkat pertumbuhan tahunan sebesar 25,55%. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penelitian tentang moderasi beragama dalam pendidikan Islam mengalami peningkatan signifikan sejak tahun 2020, dengan tema dominan seperti “religious moderation”, “Islamic education”, “tolerance”, dan “multiculturalism”. Analisis thematic map mengidentifikasi bahwa “religious moderation” dan “higher education” merupakan tema dasar yang paling sentral, sedangkan isu seperti “interfaith dialogue” dan “terrorism” menjadi penggerak utama perkembangan riset. Adapun keterlibatan kolaborasi internasional mencapai 18,18%, menandakan bahwa isu ini telah menjadi perhatian global. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kajian moderasi beragama dalam pendidikan Islam menunjukkan arah yang semakin kuat menuju pendekatan yang kontekstual, kolaboratif, dan adaptif terhadap tantangan global. Temuan ini berimplikasi pada perlunya integrasi nilai-nilai moderasi dalam kurikulum, strategi pembelajaran, dan kebijakan pendidikan Islam agar mampu membentuk peserta didik yang toleran dan berwawasan global.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis pengembangan kecerdasan spiritual dalam perspektif Islam dengan mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai Al-Qur’an melalui pemikiran Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas dan Abu Hamid al-Ghazali. Konteks permasalahan penelitian berangkat dari krisis spiritual modern yang ditandai oleh dominasi materialisme, sekularisasi pengetahuan, serta melemahnya orientasi tauhid dalam kehidupan kontemporer. Menggunakan metode kualitatif berbasis studi literatur, data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui penelusuran buku-buku primer karya al-Attas dan al-Ghazali, artikel jurnal bereputasi, serta kajian tafsir tematik terkait kecerdasan spiritual. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui dokumentasi dan analisis isi (content analysis). Selanjutnya, data dianalisis dengan teknik analisis tematik (thematic analysis) untuk mengidentifikasi kategori, pola gagasan, dan integrasi konsep antara kedua tokoh tersebut. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa krisis spiritual terjadi karena pemisahan ilmu dari nilai-nilai tauhid, yang menyebabkan disorientasi moral dan hilangnya kedalaman makna hidup. Al-Attas menekankan pentingnya Islamisasi ilmu dan peneguhan adab sebagai fondasi pemurnian akal, sedangkan al-Ghazali menekankan tazkiyah al-nafs dan ihsan sebagai proses penyucian hati menuju kesadaran Ilahi. Integrasi keduanya menghasilkan model pengembangan kecerdasan spiritual yang menyeimbangkan dimensi intelektual, moral, dan spiritual. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penerapan pendidikan berbasis Qur’ani yang menumbuhkan nilai-nilai adab, refleksi kritis, dan kesadaran ketuhanan untuk menjawab tantangan spiritual global masa kini
