Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the influence of transformational leadership, organizational culture, and organizational communication on employee job satisfaction and to analyze the mediating role of work motivation at Cv Raffana Kids Store, which experienced increased absenteeism and employee turnover throughout 2023. A quantitative descriptive design was employed using a saturated sampling technique involving 76 employees. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares with SmartPLS by evaluating the outer model, inner model, and path coefficients. The findings reveal that organizational communication has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, while organizational culture and transformational leadership do not show a significant direct effect. Work motivation is also not proven to mediate the relationships between the organizational variables and job satisfaction. The R Square values indicate a strong model capability in explaining the variance of job satisfaction and work motivation. The novelty of this study lies in highlighting the dominant role of organizational communication in improving job satisfaction within a small-scale retail context.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of mechanical and electronic engineering, particularly in heavy equipment and construction automation, requires innovative learning media that effectively bridge theoretical knowledge and practical implementation. Conventional instructional methods often provide limited opportunities for students to develop hands-on experience with complex mechatronic systems. This study presents the design, development, and evaluation of a miniature battery-electric excavator intended as an educational platform for teaching construction robotics, automation, and sustainable engineering principles. The development process followed a structured methodology consisting of conceptual design, mechanical fabrication, electronic integration, simulation, and functional testing. Unlike conventional excavators that rely on hydraulic actuators, the proposed system employs electric motors to drive the boom, arm, and bucket mechanisms, demonstrating an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative. Locomotion is achieved using DC gearbox motors for wheel movement, while an independent DC motor enables 90° rotational motion. The control architecture is based on an Arduino Mega microcontroller integrated with a wireless PS2 joystick, providing intuitive and precise user control. Lightweight aluminum was selected for the backhoe assembly to reduce overall weight, whereas the main chassis was constructed from mild steel to ensure structural strength and operational stability. Experimental evaluation confirmed that the prototype successfully performed essential excavation motions, achieving a maximum horizontal reach of 1,400 mm, a vertical reach of 1,420 mm, an average operating speed of 0.5 m/s, and a maximum speed of 1.0 m/s. With compact dimensions of 800 × 600 × 750 mm, the system is safe, portable, and suitable for laboratory-based education. Furthermore, the platform supports Deep Neural Network (DNN) data generation and reinforcement learning research, providing a cost-effective and safe environment for advancing student competencies in intelligent construction technologies

Abstract

The plastic waste problem in Indonesia has reached a severe level. Data from the National Waste Management Information System shows that Indonesia produces around 17 million tons of plastic waste yearly. However, only approximately 66.47% of this plastic waste undergoes recycling, with the remainder ending up in landfills or polluting the sea. This condition places Indonesia in second place in the world after China in terms of the amount of plastic waste produced, making it a country with a plastic waste emergency. This article discusses the development of plastic recycling machine technology as a solution to overcome the plastic waste problem in Indonesia. With a production of around 17 million tons of plastic waste per year, Indonesia faces significant challenges in plastic waste management. Low efficiency often constrains the effectiveness of plastic recycling as a solution. Therefore, this study aims to design and improve the efficiency of a plastic shredder machine. This machine uses specially designed rotating blade technology to produce high-precision plastic flakes. Additionally, we have updated the transmission system to reduce vibration and implemented other innovations to enhance the machine's capacity to shred various types of plastic. We expect this machine to decrease greenhouse gas emissions from the recycling process and lower operational costs. This study shows that the developed plastic shredder machine can work effectively and efficiently, meeting the research objectives of producing plastic flakes quickly. Thus, we expect this machine to significantly reduce plastic waste in Indonesia and support environmental conservation efforts.
