Abstract

Scholars have widely discussed meta-analysis studies on the theory of multiple intelligences. However, no research explicitly discusses the theory of multiple intelligences in the development of social science. This study determined the effectiveness of multiple intelligences on learning achievement in social studies. For this reason, researchers compiled a study that has been carried out to determine the effectiveness of multiple intelligences in meta-analysis. This study used a meta-analysis method. There are six articles used in the study based on the inclusion-exclusion criteria. The meta-analysis findings revealed that multiple learning intelligence had a modest and optimistic impact on students’ social science performance. This study also revealed the magnitude of the effect of multiple intelligence-based learning based on moderator variables at the level of education, treatment implementation time, and type of subject. The research findings provide suggestions for the development of research on multiple intelligence studies in the future.

Abstract

Purpose –This study aims to analyze the relationship between interest, self-efficacy, and practical teaching experience concerning prospective early childhood education teachers' perceptions of Pedagogical Knowledge of Technology Content. Design/methods/approach – This research employs an associative correlational quantitative design, involving 84 students from the Early Childhood Islamic Education Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Data was collected through both offline and online questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques. This analysis assesses the predictive capacity of interest, self-efficacy, and teaching experience in determining TPACK within the perceptions of prospective ECCE teachers. Data analysis was aided by the statistical software SPSS 26 for Windows. Findings – The statistical tests indicate that interest, when considered individually, does not exhibit a positive and significant effect on TPACK. Conversely, self-efficacy and teaching practice experience, when examined separately, demonstrate a positive and significant influence on TPACK. Moreover, when these variables are collectively examined, interest, self-efficacy, and teaching practice experience collectively impact TPACK, showcasing a robust relationship of 75.4%. However, it's worth noting that there are some inconsistencies in the results concerning the impact of interest on TPACK, which may be attributed to a lack of specific context and a detailed examination of respondents' interest levels. Research implications/limitations – This study primarily focuses on elucidating the interplay between interest, self-efficacy, and practical teaching experience in TPACK development. Practical implications – These practical implications are envisioned to enhance the quality of early childhood education and prepare prospective ECCE teachers to confront the evolving technological landscape. Originality/value – This research contributes to an enhanced understanding of the interrelationships between interest, self-efficacy, and practical teaching experience in shaping prospective teachers' perceptions of TPACK, offering novel insights into the professional development of prospective ECCE teachers. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the combination game between ball and obstacles to stimulate gross motorik development of children aged 4-6 years. This research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design using single group pre-test and post-test types. The object of study is children aged 4-6 years at RA Riyadussalihin Moyudan Sleman, and the total population is 41 children who are then taken all as research samples. The data collection method is based on the results of the test observations before being given treatment and the post-test results after being given treatment. Based on the study results, it was found that there was an effect of the application of the combination game of ball and obstacle on the gross motorik development of children aged 4-6 years. As evidenced by the statistical test results, they were 0.001 for the aspect of throwing strength, 0.019 for the accuracy of catching the ball, and 0.000 for the agility aspect of overcoming obstacles. The statistical test results of the three factors are overall smaller than 0.05. It means that there are differences in the pre-test and post-test results. The ball and obstacles game affects children's gross motor development. This research contributes to understanding the effectiveness of ball and obstacle games for stimulating children's gross motor development. It can be a reference for learning programs and fostering children's motor development.

Abstract

The debate in child development is the factors that influence development, such as genetic factors, heredity, or environmental factors. Filling the room for dialogue and discourse on the conflict of these two causes, Islam offers an alternative to the Qur'an fitrah definition. This study aims to reveal the concept of child fitrah according to Ibn Katsir in the Tafsir Al-Qur'an al-'Aẓhim and the pedagogical implications in early childhood Islamic education. This study uses qualitative research methods with a descriptive-analytic approach. The data were collected through documents and analyzed using the Creswell model analysis technique. The results showed that the concept of human nature (fitrah), according to Ibn Katsir, is based on good innate potential, i.e., Tawheed or religious nature. Therefore, education has to maintain this nature as a positive external agent by referring to Allah's guidance through the Prophet's revelations and examples. It then manifests by observation, literacy, modeling, and reasoning in the learning activity. In the educational process, these efforts can be: 1) Wisdom, which can be interpreted as literacy and modeling. The activities can be memorization and recitation with modeling from adults or teachers; 2) Mau'idhoh, oral transmission method to convey messages, reasoning, and even warnings; 3) If necessary, an excellent Jidal method can be used. Thus, the potential of Fitrah is transformed into a necessity for humans to fulfill their "primordial promise" to Allah. Finally, this study provides a basis for pedagogical practice based on the concept of fitrah according to Ibn Katsir in the implementation of early childhood Islamic education.

Abstract

Purpose – This study explores the role of Islamic early childhood educators in fostering tolerance awareness in educational settings while maintaining a strong Islamic identity. It addresses the tension between promoting religious exclusivity and fostering an appreciation for diversity in a pluralistic society, with the aim to contribute to both educational practice and theory on religious tolerance in early education. Design/methods/approach – The study employs a qualitative descriptive exploratory design using content analysis. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with five teachers and observations of classroom interactions. The diversity management framework was used to analyze the approaches taken by teachers in integrating tolerance education within Islamic curricula. Findings – The research highlights various strategies Islamic educators use to promote tolerance, including storytelling, empathy training, and participatory rule-making. The findings reveal a balance between religious identity and tolerance education, with a sequential approach that prioritizes Islamic principles first, followed by the introduction of tolerance concepts. Despite challenges, such as external influences and technological distractions, the research demonstrates that these strategies positively impact children’s empathy and social behaviors. Research implications/limitations – The study is limited by the sample size and geographic scope, focusing on specific Islamic early childhood institutions. Future research could expand the sample and explore cross-cultural comparisons in different Islamic educational contexts to generalize findings. Practical implications – The findings provide valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and curriculum developers in balancing religious teachings and tolerance education. The study suggests that gradual and integrated approaches to teaching tolerance can foster social harmony and empathy in young children without compromising religious values. Originality/value – This research contributes to the body of knowledge on Islamic education by offering a nuanced understanding of how tolerance can be embedded in early childhood education while maintaining religious integrity. It introduces the concept of sequential tolerance education, which integrates religious principles with empathy and respect for diversity in Islamic settings. Paper type Research paper
