Abstract

Paddy rice production in Aceh Utara has seen a decrease over the years, with production dropping from 427,455 tons in 2019 to 388,190 tons in 2021. One of the main reasons for this decline is the damage to the Krueng Pase irrigation dam. Despite the challenges, farmers in the area have adapted by adjusting to the limited water supply and the rainy season. Some farmers choose not to engage in agricultural activities during the dry season, requiring them to employ survival strategies. This study focuses on determining the survival strategies of wet-rice farmers in Keutapang Village, Syamtalira District, Aceh Utara following the damage to the Krueng Pase irrigation dam. The research area was selected using purposive sampling, where 30 farmers were selected using simple random sampling. The data was analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis and a Likert scale. The results of the study revealed that active strategies such as job diversification and family member contribution were rated as strong, while the passive strategy of frugal lifestyle obtained a very strong rating, and the savings strategy was rated as strong. Network strategies were also identified, but their rating was not provided in the summary.

Abstract

Kelompok tani sebagai wadah organisasi dan bekerja sama antaranggota mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting dalam kehidupan masyarakat tani, sebab segala kegiatan dan permasalahan dalam berusaha tani dilaksanakan oleh kelompok secara bersamaan. Gampong Uteun Bunta memiliki dua kelompok tani yang bergerak di bidnag tanaman pangan, khususnya padi sawah. Namun, menurut pengamatan, anggota kelompok tani di Gampong Uteun Bunta jarang memanfaatkan pertemuan kelompok tani serta kekurangan informasi dalam melakukan usaha tani padi sawah. Objek penelitian adalah petani padi sawah yang merupakan anggota kelompok tani. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan pengukuran Skala Likert. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan, fungsi kelompok tani terhadap usaha tani padi sawah di Gampong Uteun Bunta Kecamatan Peusangan Kabupaten Bireuen dikategorikan  tidak baik dengan nilai indeks 61,28 %.  Adapun dalam indikator fungsi kelompok tani sebagai kelas belajar memiliki fungsi yang baik dengan nilai indeks 62,32%, fungsi sebagai unit produksi tidak baik dengan nilai indeks 61,65%, sedangkan wahana kerja sama juga berfungsi tidak baik dengan nilai indeks 60,14%.

Abstract

The implementation of agricultural extension activities in Banda Baro Subdistrict aims to increase the amount of agricultural production of farmers, add insight or skills of farmers in farming activities and in adding infrastructure for farmer groups, in addition to other general services needed by farmers in order to increase the empowerment of farmers, so that extension workers as field implementers must have good competence so that extension is carried out effectively. In their duties, agricultural instructors in Banda Baro District are not free from perceived obstacles such as the difficulty of holding direct meetings with farmers, the limited number of instructors, the difficulty of accessing transportation to locations and the difficulty of communication networks. The research aims to formulate a strategy for developing the competency of agricultural instructors in Banda Baro District, North Aceh Regency. Data analysis using SWOT Analysis. The research results show that in the SWOT position matrix. The strategy for increasing instructor competency shows that the position matrix is in quadrant I supporting the SO (Growth oriented strategy) strategy, meaning that the competency of agricultural instructors has a very favorable situation. The instructor's competency has strengths and opportunities so that he can take advantage of these opportunities by growing existing strengths.

Abstract

Aceh Utara has the largest number of farmers in Aceh Province, namely 82,877 farmers who are members of 4,939 farmer groups. This shows that extension activities are carried out well in Aceh Utara. Extension activities are generally carried out starting from planning, implementation and evaluation activities. However, these activities need to be carried out in a participatory manner by actively involving rice farmers in each activity so that an appropriate model in the extension program is important to achieve targeted extension goals. The aim of this research is to identify a participatory extension model for lowland rice farmers, analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The research results showThe participatory extension model in Aceh Utara is implemented according to procedures, but there is a need to improve the model, namely by establishing farmer contacts and activating their involvement as an extension of the extension agent and as someone who is most trusted by farmers so that the extension program can run well and make it possible to minimize the obstacles faced instructor.

Abstract

This research was conducted in North Aceh Sub District, Syamtalira Bayu with a sample of 60 farmers. The purpose of this study was to determine and to analyze the influence of innovation characteristics, characteristics of farmers, and media delivery to the process of innovation adoption of agricultural extension in North Aceh District. The data used is the cross section taken in June 2016 by the planting season beginning in 2016. The research method used is quantitative method by using non-linear regression model. Analysis showed that the adoption of innovation, in this case the pattern Legowo row planting paddy rice by farmers in the district Syamtalira Bayu simultaneously influenced by the complexity, education, and number of outlets. The complexity and number of variables have significantly influence the election cropping paddy rice at the sites.

Abstract

The use of yard land is carried out to maximize the use of land as a medium for planting commodities that can be used to meet the food needs of the community in Dewantara Sub-Sub-District. Commodities that are cultivated in the yard are horticultural commodities in the form of vegetables, spices, fruits and ornamental plants. Through the use of the yard, households can increase their revenue and save on food expenditure. This study aims to analyze the contribution of yard use to household food revenue and expenditure in Dewantara Sub-Sub-District, Aceh Utara. The research sample was 60 families who used the yard with horticultural cultivation which was determined by simple random sampling. The types of data used are primary data and secondary data. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the use of yards with horticultural cultivation in Dewantara Sub-Sub-District contributed to an increase in household food revenue and expenditure. The average revenue earned by households through the use of yards is 50,045.35 IDR/month. The contribution to the increase in revenue is 1.1% and the contribution to food expenditure is 2.56%. The contribution given from the use of the yard is low, but the use of the yard is very meaningful in meeting household food needs. Households should use the yard optimally, be more innovative, and be carried out sustainably.

Abstract

Kepadatan penduduk Gampong Keutapang mengakibatkan keterbatasan lahan untuk menanam serta kondisi masyarakat tidak melakukan usahatani padi sawah selama dua tahun sampai sekarang, sehingga gampong ini mendapatkan program pemanfaatan perkarangan satu tahun yang lalu. Namun, masih terdapat lahan pekarangan yang sebagian masyarakat tidak memanfaatkan dan sebagian sudah memanfaatkan tetapi belum dilaksanakan secara intensif dan inovatif. Teknik vertikultur merupakan inovasi budidaya sayuran sebagai salah satu solusi dan mengoptimalkan pemanfaatan pekarangan yang terbatas untuk membangun wirausaha agribisnis dan menjaga ketahanan pangan masyarakat. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk sosialisasi dan pelatihan budidaya sayuran teknik vertikultur di lahan pekarangan dalam mendukung wirausaha agribisnis dan ketahanan pangan masyarakat. Metode pelaksanaan yaitu memperkenalkan inovasi budidaya sayuran teknik vertikultur, sosialisasi keunggulan pemanfaatan pekarangan, dan menyediakan sarana produksi serta melaksanakan pelatihan budidaya sayuran teknik vertikultur. Hasil yang dirasakan adalah terjadi perubahan tambahan pengetahuan dan pengalaman peserta pengabdian tentang   inovasi pertanian sebagai suatu solusi mengatasi keterbatasan lahan dengan cara tanam bertingkat. Pemanfaatan lahan perkarangan bisa memenuhi kebutuhan sehari-hari sebagai bentuk terciptanya ketahanan pangan rumah tangga.

Abstract

Kecamatan Banda Baro terdapat sembilan gampong dengan jumlah masyarakat miskinnya yang terbilang banyak yaitu berjumlah 1.768 rumah tangga atau sebesar 78,89 persen dari seluruh rumah tangga petani yang ada di Kecamatan Banda Baro. Kegiatan penyuluhan pertanian di Kecamatan Banda Baro diharapkan dapat meningkatkan jumlah produksi pertanian petani, menambah wawasan atau skill petani dalam kegiatan usahatani dan dalam menambah sarana prasarana bagi kelompok tani, disamping layanan umum lain yang dibutuhkan petani agar dapat meningkatkan keberdayaan petani. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat keberdayaan petani dalam mengelola usahatani di Kecamatan Banda Baro, Aceh Utara. Jumlah sampel penelitian sebanyak 105 petani dan Jenis data yang digunakan adalah data primer dan sekunder. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif yang diukur menggunakan skala Likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat keberdayaan petani dalam mengelola usahatani rata-rata memperoleh nilai indeks sebesar 74,63 persen yang berada pada kategori berdaya artinya petani berdaya dalam melakukan setiap tahapan dalam proses produksi pertanian, berdaya dalam pemasaran hasil karena petani menjalin kerjasama dengan berbagai lembaga pemasaran yang dapat menampung hasil panen petani, berdaya dalam meningkatkan produktivitas usahatani, mampu menjalin kerjasama dengan lembaga agribisnis, dan adanya jaminan keberlanjutan usahatani yang dilakukan petani. Namun, dalam pengadaan sarana produksi pertanian, berada pada kategori kurang berdaya dengan perolehan indeks sebesar 62,33 persen. Kurang berdayanya petani disebabkan ketidakpastian memperoleh pupuk subsidi dan besarnya biaya yang harus dikeluarkan dalam pengadaan sarana produksi.

Abstract

Food is a basic need that must be met by households. Utilization of home yard land is one of the alternatives to realize food self-sufficiency in households in Dewantara District which iscan save on food expenditure and ensure the fulfillment of household food needs which are always available, easily accessible and can be used at any time. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence household food expenditures that utilize yard land with horticultural cultivation in Dewantara Subdistrict, Aceh Utara. The sample in this study was 60 families who were selected by simple random sampling. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively using multiple linear regression test. The results showed that simultaneously the factorIncome (X1), yard area (X2), number of household members (X3), housewife education (X4), and number of working household members (X5) have a significant effect on food expenditure. Partially, only the income factor (X1) and the number of household members (X3) have a significant effect on household food expenditure.

Abstract

The number of agricultural extension workers in Aceh Utara based on each sub-district is 279 people. Banda Baro sub-district is the sub-district that has the least number of extension workers among other sub-districts, namely 4 civil servants and 1 self-help extension with the target area consisting of 9 villages. The limited number of extension workers makes it difficult for extension workers to meet extension workers directly and the difficulty of communication networks so that it affects the competence of extension workers in extension activities. This study aims to analyze the competence of extension workers in agricultural extension activities in Banda Baro Sub-District, Aceh Utara. The number of research samples was 105 farmers and the types of data used were primary and secondary data. The data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively which was measured using a Likert scale. The results showed that the average competency of the instructor in extension activities was in the competent category with an index of 77.89%, meaning that the extension worker had good competence in communicating with farmers, planning programs, implementing programs, using methods, building an entrepreneurial spirit, building networking, and evaluating programs
