Abstract

Nadine Labaki's Capernaum represents the impact of poverty on the fulfillment of children's rights. In this article, the issue of poverty and its social consequences are analyzed through the story of the main character Zain, a street child who struggles with all forms of poverty in Lebanon. Using Gramsci's theory of hegemony, the research reveals how poverty, as a form of economic hegemony, affects children's lives and how they resist these conditions in their capacity as children. The analysis focuses on the representation of poverty and its influence on the fulfillment of children's rights, especially the rights to survival, protection, development, and participation. The research findings show that the film creates awareness of social issues, such as poverty and children's rights, and encourages children as members of society to take concrete actions against the hegemony. It is also a critique of the power that overrides children's rights and considers children as passive objects in society.

Abstract

One of the problems in the implementation of the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia No. 8 of 2016 Article 6 Paragraph 10 concerning equal rights to education for people with disabilities is the absence of Arabic language learning media that can be accessed by the visually impaired. This study aims to develop and evaluate CBI-based Arabic language learning media for visually impaired students at MAN 2 Sleman Yogyakarta. Research and development (RD) methods with a quantitative approach were used, involving expert evaluations and effectiveness tests on grade 10 students. Data is collected through tests, questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. The media results developed are in the form of an Android-based application with audio features from native speakers, including three chapters of material and practice questions. The analysis of pre-test and post-test scores with paired sample T-test and N-Gain showed an improvement in students' Arabic language skills, with a significance value of 0.037 and an N-Gain score of 62.57%.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an innovative maharah al-kitabah assessment instrument based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in the ninth-grade Arabic textbook published by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs. The issue addressed in this study is the limited number of questions measuring HOTS in the existing textbook, resulting in a learning process that primarily focuses on basic skills such as remembering and understanding. This study employs the 4-D development model, which includes definition, design, and development. The research subjects are maharah al-kitabah questions found in the ninth-grade Arabic textbook. The findings indicate that most questions in the textbook emphasize Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS), with only a few assessing higher-order skills such as analysis, evaluation, and creation. Based on these findings, this study proposes the development of HOTS-based questions that encourage students to think more critically and creatively, such as questions that assess text analysis, evaluation, and creative writing skills.
