Abstract

Conceptual understanding is the foundation of learning mathematics in elementary school, but overly procedural teaching practices often lead students to memorize steps without understanding the meaning of concepts. This systematic review synthesizes empirical evidence on the effect of Discovery Learning on elementary students' mathematical conceptual understanding. The search was conducted through Google Scholar (2020–2025) using a stepwise strategy: (1) “discovery learning on conceptual understanding” (172 articles), (2) “discovery learning on mathematical conceptual understanding” (138 articles), and (3) “discovery learning on elementary students' mathematical conceptual understanding” (10 articles). Ten articles were analyzed using structured data extraction, design-based risk of bias assessment, and narrative synthesis. All studies reported improvements in conceptual understanding following the implementation of Discovery Learning, evidenced by increased pretest–posttest scores, differences between experimental and control groups, or higher mastery in classroom action research. However, the strength of evidence varied: most studies employed a single-group or classroom action research design (higher risk of bias), whereas quasi-experimental studies provided stronger support, although issues with initial ability equivalence remained. Practically, Discovery Learning is most promising when conducted as guided discovery, utilizing concrete–visual–symbolic representations, and tasks that encourage generalization. Further research requires more rigorous designs, reporting of effect sizes, and retention measurements.

Abstract

The application of the Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model in mathematics learning has shown great potential in improving students' mathematical critical thinking skills. This study aims to comprehensively review scientific articles discussing the application of CPS in mathematics learning and its impact on students' critical thinking skills in the 2019-2025 period. The method used is a systematic literature review by searching through Google Scholar, databases using the keywords "Collaborative Problem Solving", "Critical Thinking", "Mathematical Thinking", and "Mathematics Education". From the results of the review of 30 relevant articles, it was found that most studies showed that CPS improves mathematical critical thinking skills through collaboration between students in solving complex mathematical problems. In addition, several studies integrated CPS with other approaches such as Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Project-Based Learning (PjBL), which have also been shown to strengthen students' critical and creative thinking skills. The analysis shows that CPS consistently improves students' abilities in analyzing word problems, formulating problem-solving strategies, and applying mathematical concepts in real-world contexts. Based on the results of the literature review, it can be concluded that the implementation of CPS can have a significant positive impact on the development of students' mathematical critical thinking skills, which are essential in mathematics learning at the secondary education level.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an e-comic learning medium for fourth-grade elementary school students on the topic of style and to determine its feasibility. The background of this research is the low interest of students in learning abstract science and science subjects. Therefore, an engaging and easy-to-understand learning medium is needed. The R&D (Research and Development) method was used in this study, and the procedure applied the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The trial subjects were 22 fourth-grade students at SDI Baitul Salam. Data were obtained through a validation questionnaire conducted by material experts and media experts. The media expert validation results obtained a percentage of 80.5%, categorized as "Feasible," while the material validation results obtained a percentage of 92%, categorized as "Very Feasible." Based on the results, the e-comic learning medium was declared feasible and effective for use as an alternative medium in science and science subjects, particularly on style subjects in fourth-grade elementary school.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of integrating national values and to analyze the effectiveness of the national song “Dari Sabang Sampai Merauke” as a medium for character development among third-grade students at MI Al Falah Ngawi. The importance of instilling unity and patriotism from an early age requires innovative learning approaches that are appropriate to the context of primary education. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected from previous references. This research method is intended to provide an in-depth description of how national values are integrated through music. The song serves as a symbol of Indonesian unity by illustrating the natural beauty and cultural diversity stretching from Sabang to Merauke.

Abstract

This research examines the existence of the Museum Rumah Gadang Mande Rubiah as a marker of local identity for the community in Lunang Subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra, from 1980 to 2023. The study has three main objectives: (1) to understand the existence of Mande Rubiah of the seventh generation and the Museum Rumah Gadang Mande Rubiah during the period 1980–2023; (2) to analyze the role of the museum’s development in shaping the cultural identity of the local community; and (3) to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing the museum’s sustainability. This research employs a historical method consisting of four stages: Heuristics, Source Criticism, Interpretation, and Historiography. The findings reveal that the Museum Rumah Gadang Mande Rubiah represents the enduring strength of Minangkabau culture within Nagari Lunang. Originally guarded as a sacred and relatively concealed heritage site, the building has evolved into an educational and tourism center since its inauguration in 1980. Its unique and spiritually significant collections, including the Garuda bird egg and several ancestral graves, reinforce its status as an important cultural and religious site. The figure of Mande Rubiah VII continues to hold influence as a spiritual leader and customary decision-maker, despite lacking formal governmental authority. While the museum faces constraints such as limited funding and inadequate facilities, its development has been supported by strong community involvement and assistance from local government. As a cultural hub that drives customary, religious, and economic life, the museum demonstrates that ancestral heritage can coexist with modern development. In recognition of its significance, the museum has been registered as a Cultural Heritage Site under the Minister of Culture and Tourism Regulation Number PM.86/PW.007/MKP/2011.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of learning motivation on the academic potential of second-grade students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SDIT Albashiirah Karawang. The research employed a quantitative correlational method involving 30 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale motivation questionnaire and analyzed through correlation tests. The results show that students with higher learning motivation tend to achieve better academic outcomes in Islamic Religious Education. These findings highlight the importance of learning motivation as a key factor in enhancing students’ academic potential in integrated Islamic elementary schools.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of Role Playing based on Market Day as an innovative approach to Social Studies (IPS) learning, specifically on economic activities material in elementary school. The problem underlying this research is the low student engagement and limited understanding of abstract economic concepts such as production, distribution, and consumption due to teacher-centered learning and minimal practical activities. The purpose of this study is to describe how Role Playing based on Market Day can create meaningful, contextual, and engaging learning experiences for students. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of learning activities during the Market Day implementation. The findings show that the Role Playing model integrated with Market Day activities provides authentic learning experiences that help students understand economic activities more concretely. Students actively participated by acting as producers, distributors, and consumers, which enhanced their conceptual understanding, communication skills, collaboration, creativity, and financial literacy. In addition, the learning process became more interactive, enjoyable, and relevant to students’ daily lives. The study concludes that Role Playing based on Market Day is an effective and innovative learning strategy to support meaningful Social Studies learning on economic activities in elementary schools.

Abstract

Equitable education is a constitutional mandate and a development agenda that demands equal access and quality education services throughout Indonesia. However, the Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost (3T) regions still face structural gaps: limited school infrastructure and connectivity, unequal distribution and professional development of teachers, disparities in access to learning technology, and challenges in curriculum relevance to local contexts. This article aims to analyze the challenges of equitable education in the 3T regions in the 2020–2025 period through a semi-systematic literature review. Data sources include accredited national journals (SINTA) and reputable national journals, international articles indexed/standardized by Scopus and international sources, and policy reports from official institutions (UNICEF, OECD, World Bank). The study results show that the post-pandemic digital acceleration opens up opportunities for innovation, but also widens the digital divide without the support of infrastructure, digital literacy, and sustainable affirmative policy design. This article recommends four policy directions: (1) meeting minimum service standards for infrastructure and connectivity, (2) affirming teacher placement and strengthening competencies, (3) strengthening an inclusive digital learning ecosystem, and (4) developing a contextual curriculum based on local needs and learning recovery.

Abstract

The ongoing environmental crisis demands a serious role of education in fostering continuous environmental awareness among students. Environmental education implemented in schools has largely been oriented toward a scientific approach and has insufficiently addressed Islamic values and spiritual dimensions. Islam, as a holistic religion governing the relationship between humans and nature, offers a strong ethical foundation for environmental stewardship. This article aims to analyze and map the development of an Islamic-based environmental education curriculum within Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at the junior secondary school level through a Systematic Literature Review approach. The study examines 28 scholarly articles published between 2021 and 2025, which were analyzed using the PRISMA protocol. The findings reveal four main themes: theological and ethical foundations of environmental education, integration of environmental education into the IRE curriculum, the pedagogical role of teachers and ecological learning models, and challenges as well as future directions for the development of environmentally oriented IRE curricula. These findings emphasize that the development of an environmentally based IRE curriculum should be conducted in an integrative,systematic, and sustainable manner grounded in Islamic values.

Abstract

The thesis research is motivated by the importance of teacher creativity in developing effective and efficient teaching materials, specifically for Quran Hadith learning at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Tanjung Jabung Barat. Quality teaching materials must be able to improve learning outcomes, motivate students, strengthen material retention, and activate students in applying knowledge and skills. This is caused by several problems such as a lack of variation in teaching materials, low teacher creativity in integrating learning sources, and limited innovation which impacts low student activeness and comprehension. This study aims to analyze: first, the creativity of Quran Hadith teachers in developing teaching materials; second, the types of teaching materials used by the teachers; and third, the inhibiting and supporting factors of teacher creativity. The study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, which involves describing field facts through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzing them based on the research variables. The results show that the creativity of the Quran Hadith teachers is reflected in their ability to utilize technology like laptops and projectors in designing digital-based teaching materials, creating modules, compiling core material, evaluation questions, and designing interactive quizzes. Teachers also demonstrate creative thinking ability through aspects of thinking fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The teaching materials used are combinative, including print materials, digital materials, and materials resulting from the teacher's own creativity. The use of diverse teaching materials provides a more interesting and relevant learning experience for students. Inhibiting factors for teacher creativity include time constraints, minimal facilities and infrastructure, administrative burden, and the teacher's technological skills. Meanwhile, supporting factors include teacher competency, availability of facilities, madrasah support, and a conducive work environment. This research asserts that teacher creativity plays a crucial role in improving the quality of Quran Hadith learning and needs to be continuously enhanced through teacher support and professional development.
