Abstract

Education plays a strategic role in developing knowledgeable and character-driven human resources, making teacher quality a key determinant of learning success. However, pedagogical competence among teachers remains a challenge, particularly in understanding student characteristics, designing instruction, and conducting effective evaluation. The Pre-service Teacher Professional Education (PPG Prajabatan) program addresses this issue through Field Experience Practice (PPL), which integrates theoretical knowledge with real classroom practice. This study aims to examine the effect of Field Experience Practice on the pedagogical competence of pre-service PPG students majoring in Pancasila Education at the University of Riau. This research employed a causal associative survey method involving 21 students who participated in the PPL program in the 2024 Batch II. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS. The results indicate that Field Experience Practice has a positive and significant effect on students’ pedagogical competence, demonstrating that direct teaching experience contributes substantially to the development of professional teaching skills.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the forms and functions of expressive speech acts in the novel "Sepenggal Bulan Untukmu..." by Zhaenal Fanani. The background of this study is the significant role of expressive speech acts in literary works to reveal characters' psychological aspects and social conflicts. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, with the data source being the novel's text. Data were collected using the SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) reading technique and analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which includes data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results indicate that expressive speech acts in this novel are realized through four sentence forms: declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory. Each form serves specific expressive functions. Declarative sentences are used to express happiness and gratitude; interrogative sentences convey sarcasm, blame, anger, and fear; imperative sentences show the broadest range, from polite requests to harsh insults, to express attitudes such as mockery, hatred, and happiness; and exclamatory sentences are specifically used for praise and admiration. This variation in form and function plays a crucial role in character development, driving the narrative conflict, and conveying the author's social message

Abstract

Douglas Brown's dimensions divide learners into children, adolescents, and adults. Language skills are essential for all individuals at every age level. The first language skill humans acquire is listening. The purpose of this study is to determine strategies for improving students' listening skills, particularly at the elementary school level, after the use of interactive flat panel (IFP) media. This research was inspired by Douglas Brown's book, chapters six and sixteen. The study used literature review and interviews. The results, described in a qualitative descriptive manner, indicate that the use of IFP can improve children's listening skills.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students in IPAS learning, particulary on the topic of seasons and climate in Indonesia, which was caused by the dominance of conventional teaching methods and limited use of concrete learning media. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by diorama media on student’s critical thinking skills in IPAS learning. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental group methode with a non-equivalent control group design. The population consisted of all fourth-grade students of MI Matholibul Huda Jenggolo Tuban in the 2025/2026. Academic year, totaling 47 students, with class IV A as the experimental group and class IV B as the control group. Data were collected through essay tests administered as pretest and posttests and analyzed using descriptive statictics and inferential statistical tests. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. The paired sample t-test indicated a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores in both groups, while the independent sample t-test revealed a significant difference between the critical thinking skills of students in the experimental and control groups. These findings indicate that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by diorama media has a significant positive effect on improving student’s critical thinking skills in IPAS learning.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe students' needs for the Division Adventure game to improving their problem-solving skills in division operations, (2) describe the development of the Division Adventure game in improving problem-solving skills in division operations. (3) develop a Division Adventure game that is feasible, practical, and effective in improving problem-solving skills in division operations, and (4) develop a Division Adventure game that is effective in increasing student’s learning motivation. This research is a developmental study consisting of preliminary study, development, and product testing stages. The results of this study are: (1) interactive media is needed that provides a more concrete display, can be used independently by students, improves understanding of story problems, division operations, and learning motivation, which underlies the development of Android-based educational games; (2) the development stage develop an Android-based game consist of four main menus, that are Materi, Latihan, Main, and Pengaturan, and two additional menus, which are Penghargaan and Tentang; (3) A Division Adventure game is feasible based on expert judgements, practical for use in learning based on user responses by students and teachers, and effective in improving problem-solving skills related to division operations that shown by the test results with a t-count = 16.335 > t table = 2.093, which means there is a significant difference in students' problem-solving skills before and after using the Division Adventure game; (4) At the product testing stage, the results obtained were |t count| = 18.007 > t table = 2.093, indicating a significant difference in student learning motivation before and after using the Division Adventure game.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between playfulness and psychological well-being across two generational groups, namely Generation X and Generation Z. The participants consisted of 220 individuals, comprising Generation X (n = 104; aged 43–58) and Generation Z (n = 116; aged 18–25). Data were collected online using the Short Measure of Adult Playfulness (SMAP), the OLIW Model of Adult Playfulness, and the Psychological Well-Being Scale. Data analysis was conducted using Spearman correlation and additional mean difference tests based on gender and age. The results show a significant positive relationship between playfulness and psychological well-being in both Generation X (r = 0.922; p < 0.001) and Generation Z (r = 0.697; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that higher levels of playfulness are associated with higher levels of psychological well-being across both generations. Additional analyses revealed significant gender differences in playfulness and psychological well-being in Generation X, whereas no gender differences were found in Generation Z. Furthermore, no age-based differences were found for either variable in both generational groups. Overall, this study highlights playfulness as an important psychological resource that contributes to psychological well-being across generations. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for future interventions and research in the field of positive psychology.

Abstract

This research addresses the issue of underdeveloped gross motor skills among 5-6 year old children at PAUD Cahaya Gemilang in Limboro Village, Huamual District, West Seram Regency, where learning activities predominantly focused on fine motor skills while gross motor development was neglected through monotonous teaching methods and limited facilities. The study aimed to determine how traditional Gobak Sodor games could enhance gross motor skills development in early childhood. Using a Classroom Action Research (PTK) methodology conducted over two cycles with two meetings each, the research involved 10 children aged 5-6 years. Data collection employed observation sheets and documentation, with analysis calculated through percentage achievement. Results demonstrated significant improvement from Cycle I to Cycle II: in the first cycle, 4 children (40%) developed very well (BSB), 2 children (20%) developed as expected (BSH), and 4 children (40%) began developing (MB); by the second cycle, 8 children (80%) achieved very good development (BSB), 1 child (10%) developed as expected (BSH), and only 1 child (10%) was beginning to develop (MB), with no children remaining in the "not developed" category. The findings confirm that traditional Gobak Sodor games effectively enhance gross motor skills development through coordinated body movements, agility training, and rule-based physical activities.

Abstract

Traditional dance plays a crucial role as a medium for cultural expression, representing the values, identity, and social structure of its supporting communities. However, academic studies often lack a clear gap between theoretical understanding and actual performance practices. In the context of the Giomu Dance, a court dance of the Kaidipang community in North Bolaang Mongondow Regency, previous research has tended to be descriptive-historical and has not yet explored its movement structure in depth as practiced by cultural performers. This study aims to systematically analyze the movement structure of the Giomu Dance by examining movement vocabulary, spatial design, and performance dynamics. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including performance observations, in-depth interviews with cultural figures and dancers at the Mogusato Studio, and visual documentation. The results indicate that the movement structure of the Giomu Dance is composed of five main vocabulary elements interconnected through planned transitions and repetitions, four floor patterns that establish dramatic relationships between female and male dancers, and movement dynamics that emphasize gentleness, order, and resilience. These findings reveal that the movement structure of the Giomu Dance represents the values of unity, honor, and nobility of Kaidipang women, rooted in the local historical and socio-cultural context. This study concludes that the Giomu Dance functions not only as a welcoming performance art but also as a medium for articulating cultural identity that remains relevant and sustainable in the lives of the people of North Bolaang Mongondow today.

Abstract

His study aims to analyze the roles of alim ulama, tuo tengganai, and cerdik pandai in building the image of Islamic education and Malay Jambi civilization in Tanah Pilih Pusako Betuah, Jambi City. Islamic education within the Malay Jambi community is not merely understood as the transmission of ritual religious knowledge, but also as a process of moral formation, reinforcement of customary values, and the development of a social order based on the philosophy adat basendi syara’, syara’ basendi Kitabullah (custom is founded upon Islamic law, and Islamic law is founded upon the Qur’an). This research employed a qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving alim ulama, tuo tengganai, cerdik pandai, and administrators of the Malay Customary Institution (Lembaga Adat Melayu/LAM) of Jambi City. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that alim ulama play a central role in moral development, religious guidance, exemplary leadership, and the resolution of socio-religious issues within the community. Tuo tengganai contribute to preserving and transmitting Malay customary values that are aligned with Islamic teachings, while also serving as a bridge between tradition and social life. Meanwhile, cerdik pandai play an important role in strengthening intellectual discourse, developing Islamic education, and transforming values through educational and scholarly approaches. The synergy among these three actors forms a holistic and contextual image of Islamic education rooted in local wisdom. The study also reveals that supporting factors include the strong religious culture of the community, public trust in religious and customary leaders, and the existence of active religious and customary institutions. Conversely, inhibiting factors consist of the influence of modernization, the narrowing interpretation of Islamic education as merely ritual practice, and weak regeneration of religious and customary leaders. Therefore, it can be concluded that alim ulama, tuo tengganai, and cerdik pandai constitute the main pillars in sustaining Islamic education and Malay Jambi civilization in Jambi City.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital mendorong lembaga pendidikan dasar untuk mengadopsi strategi komunikasi yang lebih modern, termasuk pemanfaatan media sosial sebagai sarana humas dan branding sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis strategi humas SDIK Mutiara Anak Sholeh Sidoarjo dalam memanfaatkan Instagram sebagai media untuk membangun branding positif lembaga. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, melibatkan observasi konten akun Instagram @sdik_mutiaraanaksholeh, wawancara mendalam dengan tim humas dan pemangku kepentingan terkait, serta dokumentasi arsip digital sekolah. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan model interaktif Miles, Huberman, dan Saldaña, mulai dari reduksi data, penyajian data, hingga penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Instagram digunakan sekolah sebagai media komunikasi strategis yang menampilkan identitas, nilai, dan kualitas layanan pendidikan melalui visual storytelling yang konsisten. Strategi humas meliputi perencanaan konten berbasis kalender akademik, desain visual yang seragam, pemanfaatan beragam fitur Instagram (feed, reels, stories, highlights), serta interaksi responsif dengan audiens. Branding yang dibangun sekolah berfokus pada tiga pilar utama: religius dan berkarakter, kreatif dan inovatif, serta ramah anak. Ketiga pilar ini direpresentasikan secara berulang melalui konten visual, narasi caption, serta pola komunikasi yang personal. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa strategi humas berbasis Instagram mampu memperkuat citra sekolah dan meningkatkan kedekatan dengan wali murid. Temuan ini memberikan kontribusi teoretis bagi kajian humas pendidikan dan menawarkan rekomendasi praktis bagi sekolah dasar lain dalam mengoptimalkan media sosial untuk branding lembaga di era digital.
