Abstract

Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning plays an important role in improving students' physical abilities, motor skills, and sportsmanship. However, in practice, the learning process is often teacher-centered, resulting in students being less active in participating in learning activities. This study aims to improve student learning outcomes through the application of demonstration and practice methods in PJOK learning. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach implemented in two cycles consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were high school students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the application of demonstration methods accompanied by repeated practice can improve students' understanding and skills in participating in PJOK learning. Thus, the demonstration and practice method can be an effective alternative learning strategy to improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the difficulties in early reading experienced by first-grade students at SDN 10 Langkai, such as recognizing letters, distinguishing letter sounds, and combining letters into simple words. To address these issues, teachers implemented a multisensory learning method involving visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile aspects. This study aims to describe the teacher’s strategies in overcoming reading difficulties and to identify the outcomes of the multisensory method applied to students. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with research subjects consisting of first-grade teachers, students experiencing reading difficulties, and their parents. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that the implementation of the multisensory method was carried out effectively and had a positive impact on students’ reading abilities. The visual aspect was applied through the use of pictures and letter cards, the auditory aspect through repetition of letter sounds, the kinesthetic aspect through movement activities, and the tactile aspect through the use of concrete media. This approach improved students’ ability to recognize letters, pronounce sounds accurately, and read simple words. In addition, students became more active, enthusiastic, and confident in the learning process. However, the improvement was not evenly distributed among students, as it was influenced by differences in initial ability, learning motivation, and parental support. Therefore, consistent implementation at school and support from families are needed to optimize students’ reading development.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Describe the types of conversational implicatures of characters in the novel Love Is Punishment by Windy Irianti which include general conversational implicatures and specific conversational implicatures; and (2) the principle of cooperation of characters in the novel Love Is Punishment by Windy Irianti which includes the maxims of quantity, quality, relevance, and implementation and (3) violations of the principle of cooperation of characters in the novel Love Is Punishment by Windy Irianti. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The research data are in the form of utterances, dialogues, and excerpts of conversations between characters that contain conversational implicatures. The data source for this research is the novel Love Is Punishment by Windy Irianti. Data collection was carried out through reading and note-taking techniques with the stages of intensive reading, identifying utterances containing implicatures, and classifying data according to the focus of the research. The research instrument was the researcher herself who was assisted by a conversational implicature classification table based on Grice's theory. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that: (1) the character dialogues in the novel Love Is Punishment contain general and specific conversational implicatures which are used to convey meaning indirectly; (2) in addition, the cooperative principle of the character's conversation contains the maxims of quantity, quality, relevance and implementation, and (3) violations of the cooperative principle of the four maxims are also found which are influenced by the context of the situation, the character's emotions, and the strategy for conveying meaning. Thus, conversational implicatures play an important role in building communication dynamics, character characterization, and conveying pragmatic meaning in the novel.

Abstract

The quality of learning in Vocational High Schools (SMK) still faces various challenges, particularly related to teachers’ pedagogical competence and the effectiveness of the learning process. One strategic effort to improve learning quality is through effective academic supervision. However, in practice, the implementation of supervision is often not optimal due to the limited skills of supervisors. This study aims to describe supervisors’ skills, analyze the implementation of academic supervision, and explain the role of supervisors’ skills in improving learning quality at SMKN 2 Pelaihari. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that supervisors’ skills, including technical, interpersonal, and conceptual aspects, play an important role in the implementation of academic supervision. Communication, observation, and evaluation skills are the dominant factors in enhancing supervision effectiveness. The supervision process is carried out through planning, classroom observation, and follow-up stages, using collaborative and coaching-based approaches. These approaches are proven to enhance teachers’ reflective awareness and encourage improvements in learning quality, although there are still limitations in the follow-up stage. Therefore, strengthening supervisors’ skills and implementing sustainable supervision are key factors in improving learning quality in vocational schools.
