Abstract

This research is motivated by low student participation, lack of motivation, and suboptimal learning outcomes. Many students tend to be passive and less courageous in contributing to class discussions, which makes the learning atmosphere less interactive. The purpose of this study is to determine the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can improve student learning activities in science on the material of changes in the state of matter in grade IV. The Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model is a learning model to improve students' problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle includingplanning, implementation, observation, and reflection activities. The subjects of this study were 28 fourth-grade students of SDN Kedoya Selatan 04 Pagi. The data analysis techniques used were qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can improve the learning activities of fourth-grade students of SDN Kedoya Selatan 04 Pagi on the material of changes in the state of matter. This can be seen from cycle 1 meeting 1 based on student learning activities with a percentage of 52% with a fairly good category, in cycle 1 meeting 2, there was an increase in student learning activities with a percentage of 61% with a good category. Then cycle 2 at meeting 1 student learning activities with a percentage of 82% with a very good category and in cycle 2 meeting 2, there was also an increase in student learning activities with a percentage of 87% with a very good category. From the 2 cycles that have been implemented, it turns out that the expected action intervention results have been achieved, namely achieving the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) of 85% exceeding the KKM.

Abstract

This study examines the use of Google Forms as a tool to support online evaluation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) amid the rapid development of digital technology. The main problem addressed is the limitation of conventional evaluation methods, particularly in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, and data management. This research aims to analyze how Google Forms can facilitate the implementation of learning evaluation. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, with data collected from relevant scientific journals and analyzed descriptively. The results indicate that Google Forms serves as an effective evaluation medium by simplifying the process of creating, distributing, and analyzing assessment instruments. It allows various forms of evaluation, including multiple-choice, essays, and multimedia-based tasks such as audio, video, and images, enabling assessment across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Furthermore, the system automatically records and organizes data, making it easier for teachers to evaluate student performance and improve learning strategies. Therefore, the use of Google Forms not only enhances the efficiency of the evaluation process but also improves student engagement and supports the development of a more interactive and adaptive learning environment in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ learning outcomes in science subjects through the application of the Discovery Learning model assisted by animal picture card media. The research was conducted on third-grade elementary school students. The method used in this study is a classroom action research method with two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The results showed that the application of the Discovery Learning model with picture card media can improve student learning outcomes. This is evidenced by an increase in the average score and the percentage of student learning completeness from cycle I to cycle II. Therefore, this learning model is effective in improving students’ understanding of science material, especially animal topics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara tingkat kehadiran dan hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas V di SD Inpres Kapasa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif korelasional. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 19 siswa dengan data yang diperoleh melalui dokumentasi kehadiran dan nilai matematika. Analisis data dilakukan melalui uji statistik deskriptif, uji normalitas, uji linearitas, dan uji korelasi Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kehadiran siswa tergolong sangat tinggi dan homogen, sedangkan hasil belajar matematika memiliki variasi yang cukup besar. Uji korelasi Pearson menunjukkan nilai r = 0,173 dengan p = 0,480 (p > 0,05), sehingga tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara tingkat kehadiran dan hasil belajar matematika. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa hasil belajar dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor lain di luar kehadiran siswa.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the limited use of innovative learning media in the classroom, resulting in low student interest and engagement. This study aims to develop "Kebun Huruf"-based audio-visual media to improve early reading skills among first-grade elementary school students. The research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection instruments included observations, interviews, validity questionnaires for experts, and practicality response questionnaires.The results indicate that the developed audio-visual media possesses a high level of validity. Evaluations from material and media experts both reached a percentage of 100%, categorized as "Very Feasible," while the linguist's assessment scored 85.71%. In terms of practicality, the teacher's response questionnaire achieved 100%, and the student's response questionnaire reached 95.88%, both falling into the "Very Practical" criteria. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Kebun Huruf-based audio-visual media is highly feasible and effective for use as a learning tool to support early reading skills in first-grade elementary education.

Abstract

The era of digital disruption has created paradigmatic challenges for Islamic education, particularly in maintaining the value of adab (civility) amidst the massive and unfiltered flow of information. This study aims to analyze the transformation of adab values ​​in Malay Islamic education and formulate a strategy for inclusive and adaptive curriculum reorientation amidst the massive information technology boom. Using qualitative methods with a desk study approach, data were analyzed from various scientific literature on the reorientation of Islamic education and the digitalization of local wisdom. The results show that the transformation of adab in the Malay context involves not merely replacing learning media but rather reconstructing educational components that balance technological mastery with character building. The main findings emphasize that hybrid-Islamic Malay local wisdom—namely, the acculturation of local cultural values ​​with Islamic teachings—plays a crucial role as a moral strengthening instrument for Generation Z in stemming deviant behavior in cyberspace, such as hoaxes and the degradation of manners. The manifestation of adab has transformed into "digital adab," where cyber media becomes not only a tool for delivering content but also a vehicle for reflection and spiritual role models. In conclusion, the synergy between the integration of Islamic values, strengthening Malay cultural identity, and digital cyber literacy is key to developing a generation that excels intellectually while maintaining moral dignity in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

Reading ability is a fundamental competency that determines students' success in understanding mathematics word problems. This study aims to examine the correlation between reading ability and the ability to solve mathematics word problems based on Indonesian language and mathematics test instruments among third-grade students of SD INPRES BTN IKIP II. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population and sample consisted of 17 third-grade students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using two written test instruments: an Indonesian language test consisting of 10 items to measure reading ability, and a mathematics test consisting of 10 word problem items to measure problem-solving ability. Data analysis was carried out in two stages using JASP software. The first stage involved the Shapiro-Wilk bivariate normality test, which yielded a statistic of W = 0.943 (p = .363 > 0.05), indicating that the data were normally distributed. The second stage involved Pearson's correlation test, which produced a correlation coefficient of r = 0.957 with p < .001. This value falls within the 0.80–1.00 range, classified as a very strong positive correlation. Since p < .001 < 0.05, H₀ was rejected, meaning there is a significant positive relationship between reading ability and the ability to solve mathematics word problems among third-grade students of SD INPRES BTN IKIP II. These findings confirm that reading ability serves as a critical cognitive prerequisite for mathematical word problem solving, particularly at the lower primary level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze junior high school students' errors in solving rectangle problems based on Newman’s Theory. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach with 18 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 14 Medan as the subjects. Data were collected through a written test consisting of five essay questions, which were then analyzed based on Newman’s stages of errors, including reading errors, comprehension errors, transformation errors, process skill errors, and encoding errors. The results showed that students made errors at all stages of problem solving. The most dominant error was comprehension error at 61.11%, indicating that students still had difficulties in understanding the meaning of the problem and identifying the known and asked information. Furthermore, process skill errors at 50.00% and transformation errors at 38.89% showed that students were still less careful in calculations and were not yet accurate in determining the appropriate problem-solving strategy. Meanwhile, encoding errors at 27.78% and reading errors at 5.56% were found in lower percentages. These findings indicate that students’ conceptual understanding and thinking processes are still not optimal, so learning strategies that emphasize conceptual understanding, systematic problem-solving processes, and continuous practice are needed.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze emotional wounds and psychological resilience in the novel Broken Strings by Aurellie from a non-romanticization perspective, as well as to examine its implications for guidance and counseling. The study employed a qualitative approach using qualitative content analysis. The data consisted of textual excerpts from the novel representing emotional wounds, toxic relationships, psychological impacts, and resilience processes. Data were collected through document study with in-depth reading, while data analysis was conducted through thematic categorization and interpretation based on psychological and guidance and counseling perspectives. The findings reveal that emotional wounds in the novel stem from insecure family relationships and toxic interpersonal relationships, which lead to feelings of helplessness, fear, and emotional numbness. However, the main character demonstrates a process of resilience through self-awareness, assertiveness, social support, and the ability to reframe experiences adaptively. This study emphasizes the importance of a non-romanticization perspective in understanding emotional wounds and highlights its implications for guidance and counseling in strengthening emotional literacy, promoting healthy relationships, and developing psychological resilience.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the needs for Vocabulary Spelling Card Game media to improve English vocabulary mastery and spelling ability of fifth-grade elementary school students. This research is a preliminary step of a Research and Development (R&D) study using the 4D model Thiagarajan et al. (1974), specifically focused on the Define stage. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through a Guttman scale questionnaire (Yes/No) consisting of 23 items distributed to 44 fifth-grade students of SDN Kebon Pala 12 Pagi. The questionnaire was developed based on five analytical dimensions of the Define stage: front-end analysis, learner analysis, concept analysis, task analysis, and specifying instructional objectives. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics through percentage calculation. Results indicate that students experience significant difficulties in memorizing and writing English vocabulary, particularly in spelling. The majority of students show a high need for game-based, visually supported, and group-oriented learning media. These findings confirm the necessity of developing Vocabulary Spelling Card Game as a media that integrates image cards, letter cards, and a competitive game mechanism, targeting the vegetables theme for fifth-grade students.
