Abstract

This study discusses the phonological analysis of the Javanese language used by the people of Tridadi Village, East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, using a geographical dialectology approach. The Javanese language that developed in the area is the result of the distribution of speakers from Java Island who experienced adaptation due to the influence of the geographical environment and contact with other regional languages ​​​​in the surrounding area. This study aims to describe phonological variations that include vowel phonemes, consonant phonemes, and phonetic correspondences in the speech of native speakers. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and recordings of three informants who are native Javanese speakers in Tridadi Village. The data obtained were then transcribed phonetically and analyzed using the distribution and matching methods. The results of the study indicate that there are 9 variations of vowel phonemes, namely /a, i, u, e, o, ɛ, ɔ, ə, ʊ/ and 19 variations of consonant phonemes, namely /b, c, d, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, ŋ, ɳ, p, r, s, t, w, y, ʔ/. These variations are influenced by geographical and social factors, as well as the existence of language contact with other regional languages ​​around the research area. In addition, sound correspondence patterns were also found that indicate certain phoneme changes in the context of speech. These phonological variations are characteristic of the Javanese dialect in Tridadi Village which distinguishes it from Javanese dialects in other areas. Thus, this study contributes to the development of phonological and dialectological studies, especially in describing Javanese language variations in the South Sumatra region.

Abstract

Instilling the character of discipline in elementary school students, particularly within a bilingual school environment, is a challenge that warrants serious attention in educational practice. This research aims to describe teachers' strategies for instilling disciplinary character through Qiroati learning among second-grade students at SD Semesta Bilingual School, as well as to identify the influencing factors and its impact on students' disciplinary behavior. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects included second-grade and Qiroati teachers, with the school principal and counselor serving as supporting informants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies, while data validity was verified using technical triangulation. The findings indicate that the cultivation of disciplinary character is implemented through several strategies: teacher modeling, consistent rule enforcement, the provision of educational rewards and sanctions, and collaborative discipline application. Regularly conducted Qiroati learning has proven effective in shaping students' disciplinary habits, as reflected in their punctuality, adherence to rules, and patience in waiting for their turn. Consequently, Qiroati learning makes a tangible contribution to fostering students' awareness of discipline through a direct process of habituation rather than coercion.

Abstract

This study examines the personality competence of Islamic Religious Education teachers in fostering the noble character of students at Nu Hidayatul Mubtadi-Ien Junior High School, Tungkal Jaya District, Musi Banyuasin Regency. The background of this research is based on the moral problems found among students, such as lack of discipline, low respect toward teachers, and weak obedience to school regulations. These conditions require the active role of teachers in guiding and developing students’ moral behavior through strong personality competence. This study aims to describe the personality competence of Islamic Religious Education teachers, explain the process of fostering noble character among students, and analyze the efforts carried out by teachers in moral development activities. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method using pedagogical, psychological, managerial, and theological approaches. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The findings reveal that the personality competence of Islamic Religious Education teachers has an important role in shaping students’ noble character through exemplary attitudes, discipline, motivation, religious habituation, and continuous guidance. Teachers also implemented moral development programs such as congregational prayer activities, greeting culture, cleanliness awareness, honesty, discipline, and respect toward teachers, parents, and fellow students. The study concludes that the personality competence of Islamic Religious Education teachers significantly contributes to the development of students’ noble character and supports the achievement of educational objectives based on Islamic values.

Abstract

The rapid advancements in information and technology have had a significant impact on daily life, including on education today. The objective of this study is to analyze the role and transformation of teachers regarding the effective use of technology, as well as how this can help enhance students skills in line with the demands of the 21st century. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach based on literature review (library research). The results of the study indicate that the role of teachers has shifted from being primarily focused on conveying information to that of a facilitator, mentor, and manager of digital based learning. Digital learning offers significant opportunities to enhance students critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity skills through interactive and innovative activities. Therefore, teachers digital literacy plays a crucial role in the success of 21st- century learning.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has increased the use of gadgets among elementary school children, including students at SDIT Al Huda. Excessive and uncontrolled gadget use can reduce children’s reading motivation, learning concentration, and interest in literacy activities. Parents play an important role in supervising gadget use and encouraging positive learning habits, especially reading activities. This study aims to describe the strategies used by parents to limit gadget use and improve children’s reading motivation at SDIT Al Huda. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The subjects of this study consisted of parents, teachers, and students at SDIT Al Huda. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings revealed that parents applied several strategies, including limiting gadget usage time, supervising children while using gadgets, implementing religious-based rules, providing positive activities, and becoming role models for children. Parents also increased reading motivation through reading habits, reading together, providing literacy facilities, and giving rewards. The study further found that integrating religious activities such as Qur’an recitation and murojaah before gadget use was an effective strategy to reduce gadget dependency and develop reading habits among children. Therefore, parental involvement plays a significant role in controlling gadget use and strengthening children’s literacy motivation in the digital era.

Abstract

Reading literacy is one of the fundamental skills that must be developed in elementary school students to support learning success and improve critical thinking abilities. However, students’ reading interest and literacy skills are still relatively low, especially in thematic learning. This study aims to describe the strategies used by teachers in improving reading literacy in thematic learning at SDIT Al-Huda Petala Bumi, Seberida District, Indragiri Hulu Regency. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects of the study consisted of teachers and students at SDIT Al-Huda. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings revealed that teachers implemented various strategies to improve students’ reading literacy, including the habituation of reading activities for 15 minutes before lessons, the provision of reading corners, guided reading methods, the use of visual and digital learning media, literacy programs such as Kamis Literasi (KALIS), and collaboration with parents in supporting literacy activities at home. Teachers also provided motivation and rewards to increase students’ interest in reading. The study found that these integrated strategies were effective in improving students’ reading habits, comprehension skills, and participation in thematic learning. Therefore, teachers play an important role as facilitators, motivators, and innovators in creating a literacy-supportive learning environment in elementary schools.

Abstract

The use of instructional media plays an important role in supporting the integration of the learning process. Properly selected media are flexible and can be applied to various levels of students as well as different learning activities. This study aimed to determine the effect of instructional media on the learning outcomes of Craft subject students in class VIII at SMPN 1 Padangpanjang. Based on the theoretical framework, audiovisual learning media are considered capable of providing more concrete, structured, and repeatable learning experiences according to students’ needs, thereby potentially improving students’ understanding and practical skills. This research employed a quantitative approach with an experimental design. The sample consisted of students from classes VIII D and VIII F, selected using a simple random sampling technique. The findings revealed an improvement in learning outcomes in both groups. In the experimental class, the mean pre-test score of 49.29 increased to 88.00 in the post-test. Meanwhile, in the control class, the mean pre-test score of 55.41 increased to 68.30 in the post-test. These results indicate that the improvement in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of using technology-based learning media in Social Studies learning to help students understand materials related to geographical location, maps, and regional conditions. In the learning process, students often experience difficulties in understanding abstract materials when only lecture methods and conventional media are used. Therefore, learning media that can provide real and interactive visualization are needed. One of the media that can be utilized is Google Earth because it is able to display earth imagery, digital maps, and regional conditions in detail. This study aims to describe the utilization of Google Earth media in Social Studies learning at SMP Negeri 1 Garut, determine students’ responses to its use, and identify the advantages and obstacles encountered in its implementation. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation. The main informant in this study was Mr. Karnata Adiwiria, S.Pd., a Social Studies teacher at SMP Negeri 1 Garut and the head of the Social Studies MGMP in Garut. The results showed that the use of Google Earth made Social Studies learning more interesting, active, and enjoyable. Students appeared more enthusiastic and found it easier to understand directions, locations, coordinate points, and geographical conditions because they could directly observe them through digital displays. The obstacle encountered was that some students still did not fully understand how to use the application, but the teacher overcame this problem by providing direct guidance and peer assistance within groups. Thus, the use of Google Earth was considered effective in supporting Social Studies learning and improving students’ spatial abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM) through the Google Reference School Candidate program at SD No. 2 Mengwi using a SWOT analysis approach. This research is motivated by the importance of effective school management in facing technological developments and improving the quality of education in elementary schools. The research method used was descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of interviews and documentation. The research subjects included the principal and teachers of SD No. 2 Mengwi. The results showed that the school has several strengths, such as a clear vision and mission, participatory leadership, harmonious relationships among school members, and a digital-based Google Reference School Candidate flagship program. The weaknesses found include limited facilities and infrastructure, limited budget, and a relatively small number of students. The opportunities owned by the school include support from the government, parents, the community, and the development of digital technology in learning. Meanwhile, the threats faced include competition with other schools and student behavioral problems such as bullying. Based on the SWOT analysis results, the implementation of SBM at SD No. 2 Mengwi is considered quite effective in supporting school management and improving the quality of education through digital-based programs.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing volume of archives which leads to accumulation and limitations in storage space if not managed effectively. Conventional archival management is considered less efficient in supporting storage and information retrieval processes. Therefore, the implementation of a digital archival system is necessary to improve the effectiveness of records management. This study aims to analyze the process of collecting dynamic archival data using the Sistem Informasi Digital Olah Rekam Arsip (SIDORA) at the Department of Archives and Library of Purwakarta Regency, as well as its role in supporting archival management. The research employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and literature study. The results show that the process of collecting dynamic archival data through SIDORA is conducted systematically, starting from records receipt, identification, to data input into the system, which is equipped with information on classification, physical location, and retention period. The implementation of SIDORA has proven to enhance efficiency in storage and accelerate the retrieval process through the integration of digital data and physical archive locations. However, its implementation still faces challenges, such as dependence on technological infrastructure and the need to improve human resource competencies. Thus, SIDORA can serve as a solution for archival management in the digital era, although further development is required to optimize its utilization.
