Abstract

This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' conceptual understanding through the implementation of a structured inquiry learning model assisted by Liveworksheet on the topic of force. The low conceptual understanding of students is caused by learning activities that are still dominated by teacher explanations, resulting in limited opportunities for students to directly investigate scientific concepts. This study employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were 31 seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 19 Surabaya. Data collection was conducted using conceptual understanding tests in the form of pretest and posttest based on the indicators of explanation, interpretation, and application. The results showed that the application of the structured inquiry learning model assisted by Liveworksheet improved students' conceptual understanding. The improvement was indicated by the N-Gain scores on the explanation indicator of 0.87, interpretation indicator of 0.85, and application indicator of 0.78, all of which were categorized as high. These results indicate that structured inquiry learning provides students with opportunities to actively construct knowledge through investigation activities, data analysis, and drawing conclusions, so that students are able to understand and apply force concepts in different contexts.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of strengthening students' responsible character in learning Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn). One effort that can be done is through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model based on social issues that link learning materials with real problems in the student's environment. This study aims to describe the application and supporting and inhibiting factors of PBL based on social issues as an effort to strengthen the responsible character of class VII B students of SMPN 3 Kedungwaru. The qualitative approach method with descriptive research type. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study (1) The application of PBL based on social issues increased students' activeness in discussions, critical thinking, understanding the material, and fostering a responsible character at the individual and social levels. The implementation of PBL based on social issues was carried out through the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. Social issues relevant to students' lives such as lateness to class, bullying, impolite behavior, and low sense of responsibility in group work as triggers for learning problem situations. (2) Supporting factors found included teacher readiness, availability of learning tools, and student enthusiasm; Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include limited learning time, limited internet access and LCD displays at school, and varying levels of student activity. Thus, the implementation of social issue-based PBL has been successful in strengthening students' sense of responsibility in civics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Cooperative Script learning model in improving students’ learning outcomes in Economics at SMK Raudlatul Ulum Ledokombo Jember. Although cooperative learning has been widely investigated, limited attention has been given to how Cooperative Script enhances learning outcomes through collaborative interaction within vocational Economics education, particularly in pesantren-based schools. This study contributes to the current literature by demonstrating that structured reciprocal learning can simultaneously strengthen conceptual understanding and collaborative learning behaviour. Empirical findings further revealed a progressive improvement in students’ mean achievement scores from 66.20 before the intervention to 73.10 in Cycle I and 84.23 in Cycle II. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of two iterative cycles of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research involved 32 eleventh-grade students enrolled in an Economics class at SMK Raudlatul Ulum Ledokombo Jember during the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, field notes, documentation, and achievement tests, and analysed using interactive qualitative analysis supported by descriptive quantitative analysis. The findings demonstrate that Cooperative Script substantially improved both students’ academic achievement and classroom participation. Beyond the increase in learning outcomes, students became more actively engaged in collaborative discussions, demonstrated greater confidence in explaining economic concepts, and assumed stronger responsibility for shared learning. The findings suggest that Cooperative Script provides an effective pedagogical approach for creating student-centred Economics classrooms while simultaneously fostering conceptual understanding, communication skills, and collaborative competence in vocational education.

Abstract

Reading is one of several language skills that students must master to facilitate their understanding and acquisition of new knowledge. Reading is typically practiced based on strong interest. The Ministry of Education and Culture initiated a drive to strengthen literacy culture in schools through the School Literacy Movement (GLS) program. The scope of the school literacy movement or GLS includes the physical school environment, facilities and infrastructure, support from all school elements, including teachers and students, and various programs aimed at increasing students' interest in reading within the educational environment. The focus of this research is as follows: first, the reading interest of eighth-grade students at Muhammadiyah 1 Lumajang Junior High School during the academic year. Second, the factors that encourage and hinder the reading interest of eighth-grade students at Muhammadiyah 1 Lumajang Junior High School. Third, to identify strategies to increase reading interest in eighth-grade students at Muhammadiyah 1 Lumajang Junior High School. This research is descriptive. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results indicate that the reading interest of eighth-grade students at Muhammadiyah 1 Junior High School Lumajang in the 2025/2026 academic year is moderate. This is indicated by the tendency to read only when there is schoolwork or teacher instructions. Students visit the library only when there is a lesson that requires textbooks and teacher instructions. Factors that encourage student reading interest include an enjoyment of novels, the active role of the principal and teachers in literacy development, mentoring in reading and writing programs, a diverse book collection, and parental support for reading habits. Factors that hinder student reading interest include laziness, the dominant use of devices for social media and online games, and an uncomfortable library. Strategies to increase student reading interest include: Creating a friendly and conducive school environment; Providing appreciation, both praise and awards, for students who read diligently and produce written works; Schools strive for a literate academic environment by allocating 10-15 minutes for reading together programs; and providing mentoring and guidance to students who read diligently and produce written works in book form.
