Abstract

This research aimed to analyze conjunction usage errors in students' descriptive text writing and explain the types of errors based on Dulay's theory (1982). This research used descriptive qualitative method. Data were obtained through a descriptive text writing test collected from 15 students. then analyzed through the stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusion and verification drawing based on the theory of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña (2014). The results showed that students still experienced various errors in the use of conjunctions. There were 47 errors in total, with details of 7 omission errors, 3 addition errors, 36 misformation errors, and 1 misordering errors. From the data, the most frequent error made by students was misformation and the most frequent conjunction error was subordinating conjunction, followed by coordinating conjunction and correlative conjunction. These errors indicated that students still had difficulties in applying the correct rules in using conjunctions in descriptive text writing. The results of this study were expected to provide input for teachers in teaching writing, especially in guiding students to use conjunctions appropriately, and could be a contribution to further research in the field of error analysis and language learning. The implications of this study suggest that the teaching of English writing at the vocational level requires significant improvement in conjunction teaching methods. This study suggests implementing explicit and systematic conjunction teaching with contextualized examples, regular practice activities, and error correction strategies. Teachers should focus on helping students understand the logical relationship between clauses and provide more structured writing experiences that emphasize coherence and cohesion.

Abstract

A Thesis The ability to use correct grammar in narrative writing is essential for students to express ideas clearly. The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze errors in the use of action verbs based on the surface strategy taxonomy proposed by Dulay, Burt, and Krashen. This research used descriptive qualitative design. The subjects of this study were fourteen eleventh-grade students of SMKS Immanuel Medan, and the instruments were students’ narrative writing tests and interviews. The data analysis followed Ellis’s theory of error analysis which includes identifying, describing, explaining, and evaluating. The findings showed that there were three types of errors, namely 226 (96.58%) misformation errors, 7 (2.99%) addition errors, and 1 (0.43%) misordering error, while no omission errors were found. Based on these results, it can be concluded that misformation was the most dominant type of error made by students in using action verbs. It is suggested that teachers provide more explicit instruction and practice in verb usage, while future researchers may use this study as a reference for further analysis in different text types.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity and practicality of Project Based Learning (PjBL)-based jobsheet learning media in the Packing Practice Course in the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) research using a 4-D development model. The subject of the study is a UNSRI Mechanical Engineering Education student who is taking a Packing Practice Course. The object of the research is a project-based learning jobsheet for the Fitting Practice Course. The results of the study were obtained that 1) Based on the results of the validation of material experts, an average assessment of 4.26 was obtained with a very valid category, and the results of the validation of media experts obtained an average assessment of 4.4 with a very valid category, thus it can be stated that the jobsheet is very valid in terms of material aspects and media aspects. 2) Based on field trials, it shows that the assessment with an average score of 4.28 indicates that the assessment is very practical. Thus, the project-based learning jobsheets, plates work courses developed in the category are very valid in terms of feasibility and very practical to use.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to develop a Truth or Dare card game as a learning medium for the IPAS subject on the topic "Let's Get to Know Animals Around Us," to be used in the learning process and to assess the improvement in student interest in the IPAS subject, specifically in third-grade elementary school students. This research was a development study using the R&D approach with the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The instruments used for data collection included validation questionnaires provided by media experts, subject matter experts, instructional practitioners, and student response questionnaires. The total score obtained from media expert validation was 88%, from subject matter expert validation was 80%, from teacher response questionnaires was 88%, and from student response questionnaires was 97%. Based on these scores, it can be concluded that the developed Truth or Dare card game for the "Let's Get to Know Animals Around Us" topic was categorized as "Very Feasible" for use in the IPAS learning process for third-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to develop sliding ruler media, assess the product's validity, and determine the improvement in student learning outcomes. Enhancing students' arithmetic skills and understanding of mathematics can be achieved by introducing appropriate teaching media and instructional tools to support learning objectives. This study was conducted using research and development methods with the ADDIE model, which consists of Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection techniques included questionnaires and tests. The validation results from media experts showed a percentage of 89%, categorized as very good, while material experts' validation results were 92%, also categorized as very good. Student responses indicated a positive reaction with a percentage of 49%. The pre-test results revealed that only 31% of the 26 students met the minimum competency criteria (KKM), while 69% did not meet the KKM. However, the post-test results indicated that 99% of students passed the KKM. Based on the tests conducted, there was a significant improvement in student learning outcomes after using the developed sliding ruler media for multiplication of whole numbers in Grade III.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the This study aims to describe the creative thinking ability of elementary school students in solving mathematical word problems on arithmetic operations in fourth grade. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects were 28 fourth-grade students of SDN 70/IV Kota Jambi. Data were collected through tests, observations, and interviews, using instruments validated by experts. The analysis focused on four indicators of creative thinking: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The results show that students’ creative thinking ability is generally low. In terms of fluency, only a small number of students were able to generate more than one solution, while most relied on a single common method. Regarding flexibility, students with high ability could switch strategies when facing difficulties, whereas others tended to stick to one method. Originality emerged as the weakest aspect, with most students providing uniform answers based on the teacher’s example, and only a few showing unique or different ideas. For elaboration, the majority of students wrote only the final answer without detailing the solution steps, while only those in the high category could explain their process systematically. These findings indicate that although a small number of students demonstrated high creative thinking ability, the majority still performed at a low level across the four indicators. This study implies the need for learning strategies that emphasize the process of creative thinking, provide space for students to explore new ideas, try alternative strategies, and practice explaining their solutions systematically.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of using Kahoot application-based learning media on student learning outcomes in the Indonesian Language subject for fifth- grade students at SD Negeri 4 Gereneng. The research employed a quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 20 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected through multiple-choice tests to measure learning outcomes and questionnaires to capture student responses. The results showed that the average pretest score was 45.75, which increased to 81 in the posttest, indicating a significant improvement in student achievement. Furthermore, 65% of students expressed positive responses toward the use of Kahoot, highlighting its role in creating a more engaging and interactive learning environment. Hypothesis testing using the t-test confirmed that the t-count was greater than the t-table for both learning outcomes (27.41 > 1.725) and student responses (11.84 > 1.725), with a significance level of 0.05. These findings demonstrate that Kahoot-based learning media has a significant impact on improving student learning outcomes and can serve as an effective alternative for teachers to integrate technology into classroom learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses pengembangan media pembelajaran flipbook digital pada mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia kelas IV Sekolah Dasar, untuk mengetahui uji validasi dari media pembelajaran flipbook digital pada mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia kelas IV Sekolah Dasar, untuk mengetahui kepraktisan media pembelajaran flipbook digital pada mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia kelas IV Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode R&D (Research and Development) dengan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahapan yaitu Analyze (Analisis), Design (Desain), Development (Pengembangan), Implementation (Implementasi), Evaluation (Evaluasi). Peneliti hanya menggunakan empat tahapan yaitu tahap implementasi. Tempat penelitian dilakukan di SD Negeri 02 Tugu Harum. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar validasi ahli media dan ahli materi serta angket respon peserta didik. Hasil validasi dari validator ahli media diperoleh presentase sebesar 92,3% dengan kriteria “sangat valid”, validator ahli materi diperoleh presentase sebesar 95,1% dengan kriteria “sangat valid”. Respon peserta didik uji kelompok kecil diperoleh presentase 93,3% dengan katergori “sangat praktis dan uji kelompok besar diperoleh presentase 89% dengan katergori “sangat praktis”.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Discovery learningmodel on the conceptual understanding of Science and Social Studies (IPAS) among fourthgrade students at SD Negeri Sukarahayu 01. The research used a quasi experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 23 students in Class IV B (experimental) and 23 students in Class IV A (control). The test instruments included multiple-choice and essay questions, validated (r-count 0.931 > r-table 0.413) and reliable (Cronbach’s Alpha 0.769). The t-test results showed a significant difference in conceptual understanding between the two groups (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05). The experimental group’s post-test average score was 85.50%, while the control group’s was 40.60%. This study concludes that Discovery learninghas a positive and significant effect on improving students’ conceptual understanding of IPAS.

Abstract

The rapid global social transformation has posed serious challenges to character education at the elementary school level. Young children today are growing up in a complex value landscape shaped by technological disruption, social solidarity crises, and widespread cultural shifts. This study aims to examine how the global social crisis is reflected in the dynamics of character education for elementary students and to explore humanistic and contextual approaches as responsive strategies. This qualitative research employed data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis in two elementary schools in Brebes Regency, Indonesia. The findings reveal that children face value tensions stemming from social media and globalized environments, affecting their empathy, behavior, and moral identity. Teachers and schools tend to implement character education in a normative and fragmented manner, often disconnected from students' real-life contexts. The study highlights that a humanistic approach centering learners as subjects—and a contextual approach connecting values with lived experiences are more effective in fostering authentic character development. This research contributes a new perspective to the study of character education in the age of global disruption by proposing an integrated pedagogical strategy grounded in humanization and social relevance. The implications call for a reformulation of policies and practices in elementary character education to ensure greater adaptability to the social crises that increasingly impact children from an early age.
