Abstract

This article examines the new dimension of workplace spirituality and its influence on the organizational climate and employee work productivity at State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKI). This research used an exploratory mixed methods design. The investigation began with qualitative data collection through in-depth interview techniques, participant observation, and document study, then continued with quantitative research through survey techniques with a sample of 372 people as respondents from 17 IHEs spread throughout Indonesia. Data analysis uses correlation analysis, regression, and path analysis. The findings suggest that a new dimension discovered in workplace spirituality is devotion. The research results show that the higher the workplace spirituality, the higher the organizational climate and employee productivity. Work productivity strengthens the influence of workplace spirituality on organizational climate. This provides empirical evidence that high employee productivity and workplace spirituality will influence and impact the corporate environment. By improving the quality of workplace spirituality, the organizational climate becomes conducive, thereby increasing employee work productivity.

Abstract

Underrepresentation of women still occurs in the top-level management of higher education, including in State Islamic Higher Education (SIHE/PTKIN) in Indonesia, a country with the largest Muslim population in the world. This study aims to reveal the portrait of women's underrepresentation in the top-level management of SIHE, the determinant factors that cause the underrepresentation of women in the top-level management of SIHE, and the policies that need to be taken in response to the underrepresentation of women in top-level management of SIHE. A qualitative approach was chosen for this study by collecting data using interviews and document reviews. It objectively shows the inequality between women and men in top-level management. Men still dominate strategic positions such as rector, vice-rector, and dean. This inequity is caused by qualification barriers of female lecturers, patriarchal culture, and gender-biased religious understanding. This inequity has an impact on the slow realization of gender-responsive campuses. Thus, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Government must make affirmative policies to accelerate women's representation at the management level of SIHE so that more women occupy the positions of rector, vice-rector, and dean.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of understanding, elements, and categories of entrepreneurial behavior important for understanding the basic concepts of Islamic boarding schools' entrepreneurial behavior. This study uses a qualitative approach. The setting of this research is the Riyadlul Jannah Islamic Boarding School because of its uniqueness in developing entrepreneurial behavior. The research design used is a single case study with one unit of analysis, namely members of the pesantren. Key informants were determined purposively, starting from the Board of Trustees of the Islamic Boarding School (Kyai), followed by a snowball method until it reached 30 informants. The research findings show that understanding the meaning of entrepreneurial behavior includes attitudes, lifestyle, and self-confidence to produce economic values that encourage independence. Entrepreneurial behavior includes a series of good deeds (al-amal al-shalih) and noble standards (al-akhlaq al-karimah). The entrepreneurial behavior category consists of personal entrepreneurial behavior, social entrepreneurial behavior, and spiritual entrepreneurial behavior. The basic understanding of Islamic boarding schools' entrepreneurial behavior should be comprehensive, covering all three, namely understanding the meaning, elements, and categories of entrepreneurial behavior.
