Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital education innovation based on Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic Boarding Schools in the Bangka Belitung Islands. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, where data is collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively with the Interactive Analysis Model from Miles & Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and data verification. The study results indicate that the commitment of Islamic boarding school management is significant in providing adequate digital infrastructure for learning. Implementing TQM in Islamic boarding schools requires the involvement of all elements of the school, including managers, teachers, and students. Designing a digital-based curriculum that integrates local wisdom also plays a role in maintaining Islamic boarding school values while meeting the demands of technological developments. In addition, enhancing resource capacity, especially teachers, through technology training is the key to success in implementing digital media. Focusing on user satisfaction, both students and teachers, is also essential to ensure the success of digital learning. The implications of this study indicate that implementing digital-based TQM in Islamic boarding schools not only strengthens the quality of education but also introduces a technology-based approach relevant to the needs of the times without ignoring the traditional values of Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the researcher’s interest in the university monitoring system through lecturer performance in improving the quality and reputation of universities in Indonesia. Although the Tri Dharma of Higher Education is an obligation that every lecturer must carry out, there are differences in its implementation in various universities. This study examines the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education by lecturers and its impact through an independent comparative survey in State Religious Universities and State General Universities with similar geographical, cultural, and social conditions. The approach used in this study is quantitative, with a comparative method to test the differences in the implementation of Tri Dharma in several universities. Data were collected through a validated questionnaire and then analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney, and Spearman rank correlation tests. The study's results showed no significant differences in the implementation of education and teaching. However, there were differences in the implementation of research and community service among the universities studied. Its impact on the SINTA score shows that the implementation of research has a strong correlation. In contrast, the implementation of community service does not significantly impact the score. This study provides important implications regarding the need for universities to improve the quality of research and community service to impact their academic reputation positively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the application of computational thinking can affect students' analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as change the mindset of teachers from conventional teachers to innovators in one of the Junior High Schools in Banjarmasin City. This study uses a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques, including coding, identifying important themes, and interpretation in the context of computational thinking theory. Data triangulation was carried out by comparing the results of observations, interviews, and document analysis to ensure the validity of the findings. The results of the study indicate that computational thinking plays a significant role in improving students' technical and analytical skills and encouraging the transformation of teachers' mindsets towards a more innovative and adaptive approach to technology. In addition, this study also found that the implementation of computational thinking successfully addressed the gap in technology skills among students, thereby increasing educational equality. The implications of this study indicate that the application of computational thinking in the school curriculum can be an effective strategy to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. However, this study is limited to one location. It does not consider gender factors and variations in student backgrounds, so further research is needed with a wider scope to obtain a more comprehensive picture.

Abstract

Job satisfaction is a crucial factor in an organization's continuity and success, especially in higher education institutions, where retaining and motivating high-performing lecturers is essential for long-term success. This study explores the role of job satisfaction as a connecting factor between leadership behavior, academic atmosphere, and lecturer performance. The method used is an exploratory study with a sample of 200 permanent lecturers with at least a lecturer status from Islamic higher education institutions in South Sulawesi. Data were collected through an online survey using a Likert scale questionnaire, and data analysis was carried out using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. The study results indicate that job satisfaction functions as a full mediating variable, where the impact of leadership behavior and academic atmosphere on lecturer performance is only significant through job satisfaction as a mediator. However, neither leadership behavior nor academic atmosphere substantially directly impacts lecturer performance. The implications of this study indicate the importance of job satisfaction in improving lecturer performance and the need for further research with a broader sample and more diverse variables to deepen understanding of the field of human resource management in the academic context.

Abstract

This study explores the role of Income-Generating Units (IGUs) in promoting the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools. This study focuses on the mechanism of IGUs' contribution to the financial and educational sustainability of Islamic boarding schools, considering that the existing literature is still limited in discussing this aspect in depth. The main objective of this study is to investigate the strategies and resources that enable Islamic boarding schools to achieve economic independence to support the sustainability of their education. This study uses a qualitative with case study approach in Islamic boarding schools that have developed various mining, fisheries, and agribusiness businesses. Data were collected through interviews, observations, document reviews, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The data analysis process includes classification, processing, and validation with the help of NVIVO software for effective management and coding of qualitative data. The results show that the economic success of Islamic boarding schools is driven by three main factors: effective resource utilization, strategic partnerships with external parties, and active involvement of students in business activities. This study confirms that IGUs play an important role in ensuring the sustainability of Islamic boarding schools, both in terms of financial independence and the development of student's practical skills, which simultaneously strengthens the competitiveness of Islamic boarding school education.
