Meosbekwan Island is one of the outermost islands of Indonesia which is administratively located in the Raja Ampat district. Most ships are made of Fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) or Fiberglass-reinforced Polymer Composite Materials. The condition of the area, surrounded by coral reefs, so that many ships were damaged because they hit the reef. The ship repair process is very difficult, because the condition of the area is far from urban areas. In general, the ship repair process adjusts to the level of damage. On the island of Meosbekwan, the ship's damage to the lower hull was torn and porous. The use of appropriate repair standards, needs to be applied so that the ship provides a sense of security and comfort for users. The procedure for repairing a damaged fiberglass boat consists of removing the outer layer until a solid part is found, then filling the damaged part with a resin-catalyst alloy reinforced with fiberglass Woven Roven 600 and Chopped Strand Mat 450. The number and variety of layers are adjusted by reference. The repair method used is the Hand Lay Up method. During the activity, one of the boats was completed together with the fishing community of Meosbekwan Island.

Abstract

According to data from the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN) for 2020, the largest pile of waste according to waste sources in Lampung Province comes from household waste, namely 42%. Along the Dusun II road in Way Hui Village, almost every day the community burns leaf litter in their yards, which causes pollution. In addition, according to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for 2020, agriculture in Lampung is the 15th highest, namely 90.48%. However, in its management, the majority of agriculture and plantations in Lampung use inorganic fertilizers to increase the quality and quantity of crops. This problem can be overcome by using organic waste as compost to gradually improve soil quality and reduce the volume of household kitchen waste. The Rotary Drum Biocomposter is a simple and inexpensive composter for processing kitchen and household organic waste in a sustainable manner. To speed up the composting process, a bioactivator is added as a decomposer. Bioactivators can be made by utilizing rice washing water waste and papaya fruit waste, which are rich in nutrients and can increase the macronutrients of the compost. The composting method used in this research is aerobic composting. This tool aims to educate the surrounding community that waste can be turned into valuable goods with good management, thereby creating a healthy environment and profitable business opportunities.

Abstract

Women's empowerment and environmental management are two important issues in sustainable development. Dharma Wanita Association (DWA) Probolinggo City responded to these two issues through creative training in making decorative flowers from used spunbond bags. This training aims to teach DWA members how to utilize spunbond bags, which often accumulate in households due to the policy to reduce the use of plastic bags, into economically valuable craft products. Apart from supporting policies to reduce plastic waste, this training also functions as a means of empowering women by increasing their skills and creativity in the field of handicrafts. The results of this activity are not only environmentally friendly decorative flower products, but also the potential for further development in the field of recycling-based crafts. This training opens up opportunities for participants to develop small businesses based on recycled products, as well as expand networks with other communities that support the waste management movement. In addition, the potential for this activity can be integrated with environmental education and adopted as a sustainable program to increase environmental awareness in society. With increasing awareness of the importance of protecting the environment, recycling-based training like this has bright prospects and can become a model for similar activities in the future. This activity not only provides economic and social benefits for DWA members, but also contributes to global efforts to reduce the negative impact of plastic waste on the environment.
