Abstract

Weight and height measurements are crucial for monitoring toddler growth and enabling early detection of developmental disorders. Cadres at posyandu (integrated health service posts) play an essential role in this monitoring; however, many lack adequate skills. This study employed a pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test assessments conducted in the Kedondong Health Center area of Pesawaran Regency. The study involved 47 randomly selected active posyandu cadres, focusing on their skills in measuring toddler height. The treatment variable was the support provided by health workers to these cadres. Skill measurements were taken twice: before (pre-test) and after (post-test) assistance. A checklist outlining the steps for measuring children's height was utilized as the assessment tool. Data analysis included the Shapiro-Wilk test for normality and the Wilcoxon test to evaluate differences in skills pre- and post-mentoring. Results demonstrated a significant improvement in average skill scores, with the infant meter increasing from 6.44 to 8.92 and the stadiometer from 6.06 to 9.11. Statistically significant differences were found before and after mentoring for both instruments (p-value=0.012 for the infant meter; p-value=0.000 for the stadiometer). The study recommends that health workers effectively mentor cadres using these measurement tools, aligning with existing standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of impaired growth in children under five caused by chronic malnutrition, particularly within the first 1,000 days of life, resulting in children being too short for their age. This issue is crucial because stunting also impacts children's motor skills and psychosocial development. The problem of malnutrition predominantly occurs in developing countries, where approximately 80% of stunted children are found in 24 countries across Asia and Africa. Indonesia has the highest prevalence, followed by India, China, Nigeria, and Pakistan. This study analyzes the influence of parenting styles and psychosocial stimulation on preschool-aged children experiencing stunting development. The research design uses an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consists of stunted children aged 3-6 years and their parents in Nganjuk Regency, totaling 150 respondents. Sampling was conducted purposively, and data were collected through the PSDQ questionnaire for parenting style, the EC HOME for psychosocial stimulation, and the KMME for psychosocial development. Multiple linear regression analysis was employed, with a significance level of (α=0.05). The analysis results indicate a significant effect of psychosocial stimulation on the psychosocial development of stunted children, with a p-value of 0.001≤α=0.05. Responsive parenting and active parent-child interaction are crucial in supporting children's development. Therefore, it is essential to improve children's nutritional status through proper caregiving approaches to ensure they grow with normal nutritional status and achieve optimal development in the future.

Abstract

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) is one of the most effective actions for patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), which can improve prognosis and minimize hospitalization time. To optimize medical therapy programs, PCI must be complemented with further preventive measures, such as cardiovascular rehabilitation, including lifestyle modification and risk stratification. This study aims to analyze the relationship between phase I cardiovascular rehabilitation, risk stratification, and length of hospitalization in post-PCI patients. The study design was a retrospective cohort sourced from electronic medical record data. Respondents were divided into groups: those exposed and those not exposed to phase I cardiovascular rehabilitation. Risk stratification and length of hospitalization were studied as study outcomes. Among 201 patients who were followed up during hospitalization, high-risk stratification was more in the unexposed group: exposed group (92.2%: 90.8%; RR 0.85, 95%CI 0.340-2.104). Length of hospitalization ≥3 days was more in the unexposed group: exposed group (63.1%: 59.2%; RR 0.904 95%CI (0.639-1.279). Length of hospitalization ≥3 days was more in the high stratification group: low stratification (63.6%: 35.3%; RR 0.555 95%CI (0.289-1.066). Phase I cardiovascular rehabilitation was not associated with risk stratification and length of hospitalization. Patient risk stratification was related to the length of hospitalization of post-PCI patients. Phase I cardiovascular rehabilitation is an integral part of medical therapy that can reduce adverse events in post-PCI patients.

Abstract

The difficulty-usefulness method is not widely known as a prioritization method. Some researchers have used this method in prioritization, but no researcher has reviewed the difficulty-usefulness method, the elements used, or the development of this method. This scoping review examines the difficulty-usefulness method in priority setting, the elements used, and the development of this method. This scoping review follows the five-stage framework of Arksey and O'Malley. A database search used keywords for literature published between January 2014 and June 2024. Data were organized, summarized, and presented in tables based on various themes. Eight studies were reviewed that utilized the difficulty-usefulness method in improving e-learning activities, preventing pesticide usage risks, selecting contraceptive methods, determining healthy family indicators, and determining community-based disaster preparedness parameters. The elements used in priority setting were aligned with the activities or issues to be improved or enhanced. These elements were determined through focus group discussions (FGD) and previous research results. The development of the difficulty-usefulness method has been carried out by several researchers, including the arrangement of elements in a pyramid structure, weighting attributes, and grouping elements into quadrants. The effectiveness of the difficulty-usefulness method has not yet been assessed, and there is still significant potential for further development.

Abstract

Injuries are a cause of morbidity and mortality in children under five. In Indonesia, the prevalence of injuries to children under five in 2013 was 8.5%, and in 2018, it was 8.2%. Injuries to toddlers derive from not-yet-optimal levels of development, high curiosity, lack of gross motor coordination, and the ability to anticipate danger. Nurses can provide anticipatory guidance to parents to increase parental understanding and prevent injuries to toddlers. The research aimed to determine the effect of CIPP on injury prevention in toddlers. The research method used the One group pre and post-test design with the population of all toddlers in the Puskesmas (Community Health Centre) Rajabasa Indah working area. The research sample using Proportional Random Sampling was 120 parents of toddlers. Data collection was done through interviews using screening cards. Data were analyzed using proportions and a T-test. The results of toddler characteristics were male (55.83%), toddler (55.83%), and standard nutritional status (70.8%). The proportion of toddlers who experienced injuries was 41.66%, and the most frequently experienced injuries were falls (37.5%). There was a significant difference in the mean value of knowledge about injury prevention in toddlers (p-value=0.000), environmental modification (p-value=0.000), and injury incidences in toddlers (p-value=0.000) before and after the anticipatory guidance intervention using CIPP. It is recommended to integrate CIPP into toddler health promotion, socialize CIPP with parents, cadres and kindergarten teachers, and develop CIPP-Android based applications.

Abstract

Aedes mosquitoes are vectors of viruses, namely the dengue virus. Treatment with insecticides is no longer effective if the target mosquito is resistant. Therefore, efforts are needed to overcome the resistance of these mosquitoes. Inhibition of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is one way the synthetic insecticide Profenofos works; if AChE is inhibited, acetylcholine accumulation will disrupt the nervous system. Insensitivity to AChE is one mechanism of mosquito resistance to insecticides. Based on this, the problem is formulated as follows: is the increase in susceptibility of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes to alphacymethrin, citronella oil, and a combination of both caused by a decrease in the insensitivity of mosquito AChE? This study aims to determine the AChE insensitivity of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes to citronella oil, a combination of citronella oil and alphacymethrin 0.03%), compared to the positive control (insecticide alphacymethrin 0.03%). Percentage of mosquito mortality after being held for 24 hours: The results showed no difference between the two groups of mosquitoes without treatment (A) and 100 µL/L citronella oil (B), F count 0.000, Sig. 1.000, significance value <0.05. Exposure to 100 µL/L citronella oil on instar III-IV mosquito larvae did not make mosquitoes more susceptible or more resistant to 0.03% alphacypermethrin insecticide. Based on the absorption value analysis results using the T-test between group A/ without treatment and group B with 100µL/L citronella oil treatment showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.547>0.05 means there is no significant difference between the two groups.
