Abstract

Clean water is a vital basic need in community life. In Dusun Dukuh, access to clean water still faces various challenges such as uneven distribution, unsecured quality, and low public awareness of the importance of sanitation. To address these issues, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was initiated as a participatory platform for local youth. The FGD activities involved Karang Taruna Dukuh Tegal, community leaders, the village government, and other relevant parties. Through joint discussions, clean water issues were mapped: from sources, distribution channels, management, to water usage habits. The purpose of this study was to analyze how the forum can strengthen the role of youth in clean water access solutions, increase public awareness, and identify effective operational strategies. The method used was a qualitative approach with observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation during the FGD process. The results showed that the FGD increased solidarity among youth, generating local ideas such as building community wells, managing donated distribution equipment, and promoting cleanliness campaigns. However, obstacles such as limited funds and lack of institutional support still need to be addressed. Conclusion: The Focus Group Discussion Forum (FGD) is an effective tool for Karang Taruna Dukuh Tegal in fighting for access to clean water. However, intervention from policymakers and resource allocation are needed for the initiative to be sustainable.

Abstract

Lalonona Village is a village in Amonggedo District, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. One of the sectors that is a source of life for the community to meet their daily needs is the agricultural sector, one of which is taro. The main problem for the community is that they find it difficult to handle taro if it is not sold out in the market, so the remaining taro is just stored until it becomes moldy and rots. The purpose of this PKM activity is to improve the knowledge and skills of partners in post-harvest processing of taro and packaging as well as offline or online marketing training. The activity was carried out through five stages: the preparation stage, the socialization stage, the training stage, the mentoring stage and evaluation. Abstract

The Rangers Bee Farmers Group in Lubuk Gilang Village has utilized three local bee species; Apis cerana, Apis dorsata, and Trigona to increase farmers’ income through honey production. However, the potential of other bee products, such as bee pollen, has not been optimally developed. The farmers lack knowledge and skills in post-harvest processing, particularly in drying techniques and marketing strategies. As a result, bee pollen remains unprocessed and is discarded as waste. This community service activity aims to enhance participants’ knowledge of bee pollen nutrition and processing to improve product shelf life, introduce traditional and oven drying methods, and provide mentoring in bee pollen processing. The activity employed an experiential learning approach. It began with a lecture session conducted by the community service team on the nutritional value of bee pollen and the stages of bee pollen processing. This was followed by hands-on practice, where the team and participants collaboratively processed bee pollen using an oven dryer. Post-activity mentoring was also carried out to support the sustainability of the practice. The community service program in Lubuk Gilang Village was attended by members of the Rangers Bee Farmers Group and local residents. The program began with an educational session on the nutritional content of bee pollen and its role in maintaining human health. The team further explained the stages of bee pollen processing, including sorting and drying, with the target moisture content below 10%. Additionally, the team introduced proper packaging and labeling techniques and showcased examples of bee pollen products marketed through online platforms. Following the activity, the team continued mentoring sessions to assist the farmers in conducting independent drying experiments on their harvested bee pollen. The community service activity resulted in a 26.87% increase in the farmers’ and community members’ knowledge and understanding of bee pollen nutrition, processing techniques, and marketing, as measured through questionnaire assessments.

Abstract

Efforts to increase production were carried out by applying artificial insemination methods, known as Artificial Insemination (AI). The standard for AI success is indicated by the S/C value. In Pamekasan Regency, the average S/C value was 2.8, which means that more than two, and even close to three, artificial insemination processes were required to achieve pregnancy. This value is still higher than the S/C standard, which is between 1.6 and 2.0. One of the reasons for this high S/C value is the low ability of farmers to detect oestrus and determine the right time for mating/AI. The problem faced by farmers in the ‘Sumber Mulyo’ Farmer Group is the lack of understanding or knowledge of farmers regarding the oestrus period of their livestock and the right time to mate their livestock. The community service activities will be carried out from August to October 2025. The methods to be used in this community service activity are (1) extension/socialisation, (2) demonstration/hands-on practice, (3) training, (4) discussion/question and answer session. These methods will be carried out in conjunction with the extension/socialisation, where the question and answer session will be used to evaluate the farmers' understanding of the material presented. This community service activity was attended by 30 farmers from the ‘Sumber Mulyo’ farmer group in Panagguan Village, Larangan Subdistrict, Pamekasan Regency. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' understanding after attending the socialisation and assistance with oestrus detection. Based on the pre-test and post-test results, the average comprehension score increased from 1.15 to 1.96, or an increase of 0.81 points. The highest increase occurred in the indicator ‘timely oestrus detection can affect livestock productivity’ with a difference of 0.87 points, followed by understanding of ‘the oestrus cycle in cows’ by 0.83 points. These findings indicate that learning methods involving direct practice in the field are effective in improving farmers' ability to recognise signs of oestrus and determine the optimal mating time. Through these socialisation and mentoring activities, it has been proven to significantly improve farmers' understanding (p < 0.01), thereby potentially increasing reproductive success and livestock productivity.

Abstract

Sacha Inchi cultivation is not yet known in Baumata Village, Kupang Regency. Therefore, cultivation needs to be carried out because the various benefits of this plant’s products are very important for the health of the local community. Sacha Inchi can serve as an important source of nutrients that may help address malnutrition and cardiovascular diseases. With its high protein and healthy fat content, Sacha Inchi can be an alternative source of protein that is more affordable and accessible compared to animal-based protein sources. This activity aims to introduce Sacha Inchi cultivation to the Fenun Farmers Group in Baumata Village and to assess their level of acceptance toward cultivation techniques, post-harvest handling, and processed products made from Sacha Inchi. The method involves introducing an existing cultivation model from the Dryland Research Station of Undana, conducting outreach on cultivation, post-harvest handling, and processed Sacha Inchi products, followed by practical training at the Dryland Research Station of Undana, and continuing with practice of cultivation and processing  on the Fenun farmers group’s place. The activity enabled farmers to learn Sacha Inchi cultivation techniques, starting from seed germination, seedling production, planting, and crop maintenance. The germination method used resulted in 85–90% seed germination, 100% healthy seedling growth, and 100% successful growth of plants in the field. Farmers also learned how to peel Sacha Inchi fruits into raw materials ready for processing and how to make Sacha Inchi seed–based products such as roasted nuts, cookies, brownies, and vegetable oil. Coclusion: The Fenun farmers group successfully cultivated Sacha Inchi plants and were able to carry out post-harvest handling and product processing effectively.

Abstract

Karanganyar Village, Batang District, has great potential for utilizing traditional medicinal plants to improve community health. Cases of diabetes mellitus in the area have increased due to unhealthy lifestyles and excessive sugar consumption. Local plants such as bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum), bitter leaf (Andrographis paniculata), cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), and turmeric (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) possess proven antihyperglycemic effects and are safe for use as adjuvant therapy. This community service program aimed to educate and empower the community to independently utilize local resources. The activity, held at the Karanganyar Village Hall with 30 PKK women participants, employed pre-tests, material presentations, interactive discussions, and post-tests to assess knowledge improvement. Results showed that participants initially lacked understanding of adjuvant concepts and medicinal plant utilization. However, after the sessions, all participants demonstrated significantly better comprehension and confidence in applying traditional medicine to support diabetes management. The high engagement level indicated that the materials were relevant and beneficial to the community’s needs. This program effectively enhanced public knowledge of traditional medicine as an adjuvant for diabetes mellitus and has the potential for independent application in local health practices.

Abstract

The limited competitiveness of instant herbal drink products produced by the Women Farmers Group (KWT) Makmur in Panyingkiran Village, Ciamis, has become a crucial issue to address. The products were still constrained in terms of processing, packaging, and marketing, despite the abundance of local raw materials that could be developed further. This condition required an intervention to improve production capacity and business management so that the herbal drink products could compete in a wider market. This activity aimed to enhance the partners’ skills in production, management, marketing, and basic financial recording. The method consisted of problem identification, solution design, training on the use of three automatic machines, business management assistance, technology implementation, and evaluation. The program was carried out from April to December 2025 in Panyingkiran Hamlet, Panyingkiran Village, Ciamis District, West Java. Partners gained new skills in operating the machines, making production more efficient and hygienic. Production capacity increased from 0.5–1 kg to 3–5 kg per day. Production time decreased from 8–10 hours to 3–5 hours. Sales value rose from an average of IDR 80,000 to IDR 100,000–150,000 per period. Partners also improved their understanding of basic management, simple accounting, marketing, and product branding. The main obstacle was aligning schedules between the implementing team and the partners, while village officials and the community provided strong support. The program successfully improved the competitiveness of KWT Makmur through innovations in production, packaging, and marketing.
