Abstract

Background: The positive public response as well as the high enthusiasm of pregnant women for complementary therapy makes complementary therapy an alternative choice to avoid the side effects of using chemical drugs which can have a negative impact on the womb, but until now there has been no government policy that regulates complementary therapy specifically for obstetrics. Kepahiang district was chosen as the research site because Kepahiang is the only district to have introduced innovations that require midwifery services to be delivered in a collaborative way.To examine the implementation of management experience on  the complementary therapies’ implementation in joint midwife practice services (PBB) at Kepahiang District Health Office. Methods: The research utilized a descriptive qualitative method, analyzing data with an Excel coding system and categorizing them into themes and sub-themes. Purposive sampling was used to select 18 participants for direct, in-depth interviews. Results: complementary therapy practice received a positive response from the community. In addition. On the other hand, all officers did not know about the licensing policy for complementary therapy practices. Conclusion: all informant has had a positive experience; however, they have less knowledge about the policy of implementing complementary therapies

Abstract

Mental health is neglected in antenatal care in Low- and Middle-Income Countries, whereas the prevalence of anxiety and depression symptoms in pregnant women is increasing yearly. Mindfulness is a new recommended method to prevent and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, but it is still rarely practised in Indonesia. This case report aimed to explore mindfulness-based interventions reducing anxiety and depression in pregnant women. The subjects of this study were two pregnant women who had symptoms of anxiety and depression. The research was conducted at the Community Health Centers from April to May 2023. The results were that mindfulness-based interventions built with husbands’ involvement can help reduce anxiety and depression symptoms in pregnancy. Mindfulness-based interventions are a practical and inexpensive program. Based on our findings, mindfulness programs should be taken into strategies to prevent mental health disorders in antenatal care. Health professionals can teach this method during pregnant women's antenatal care visits or in pregnant women's classes.

Abstract

Red ginger can be processed into an alternative herbal drink for the community. In the manufacturing process, cinnamon, lemongrass, granulated sugar and other spices can be added to make syrup. This red ginger syrup tastes sweet, spicy and contains antioxidants that are good for health. A heating technique has been developed in the process of making red ginger syrup. This research aims to determine the manufacture of red ginger syrup, the organoleptic properties of the color, aroma, taste and viscosity of red ginger syrup as well as the hedonic test of the label on the ginger syrup container. The type of research used was an experimental method with a one-shot case study design using 3 different formulas with variations in the amount of red ginger and granulated sugar. The research involved 18 trained panelists to carry out organoleptic tests using a hedonic scale. The study found that 61.11% of red ginger syrup panelists preferred formula 3, 50% preferred formula 2, and 44.44% preferred formula 1. The majority preferred Formula 2, with 55.55% preferring it. The viscosity test showed similar opinions across the three formulas. Plastic bottles were preferred 50% of the time. The results of the preference test for containers showed that panelists preferred plastic bottle containers with 50% of panelists choosing to like them. The conclusion of this research is that there is no difference in the level of preference (color, aroma, taste, texture) of panelists regarding the organoleptic properties of red ginger syrup.

Abstract

Herpes zoster (HZ) is a disease caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). Immunodeficiency, such as malignancy, is one of the causative factors of HZ. Clinically HZ manifests as erythematous macules within 12-24 hours, then develops into unilateral clustered vesicles that usually do not cross the body's midline and are confined to areas of the skin innervated by a sensory ganglion. Tzank test is a standard diagnostic tool for diagnosing HZ, as it can detect multinucleated giant cells. A 57-year-old woman presented to the outpatient dermatology and venereology clinic of Dr Moewardi General Hospital, painful, easily ruptured vesicles on her left chest spreading to her back, left armpit and arm. She was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago. She had completed her cancer therapy, and in November 2020, she had a total mastectomy of her right breast. Physical examination obtained multiple unilaterally clustered vesicles, which were partially crushed on an erythematous base with some erosive areas in a C6 and T4 dermatomal distribution on the left side. Tzank examination showed multinucleated giant cells. She was treated with aciclovir tablets 800 mg/4.5 hours for ten days, gabapentin tablets 300 mg/24 hours for three days and then every 12 hours from day 4 to day 7, Neurosanbe® tablets/8 hours, wound care with 0.9% NaCl compression for 10 minutes every morning and evening, and mupirocin ointment 2% applied on the erosive area as well as salicyl talc on the unburst vesicles. Immunosuppressive conditions such as malignancies result in reduced cell-mediated immunity (CMI), which increases the risk of viral infections such as herpes zoster. Commonly people with malignancies have low CD4+ and CD8+ cell counts and reduced lymphocyte proliferation. All the above conditions can be risk factors for the development of HZ.Abstrak: Herpes zoster (HZ) adalah penyakit yang disebabkan oleh reaktivasi virus varicella zoster (VZV).

Abstract

Solanaceae is a family of flowering plants with 83 genera and 2,925 species spread throughout the world. People reuse natural medicines that have been passed down from generation to generation because medical medicines have a big tendency to cause many side effects. This research aims to examine the pharmacological effects and toxicity of plants in the Solanaceae family. This research used 10 plant species, including potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.), golden berries (Physalis angulata L.), tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L.), red chilies (Capsicum annuum L.), cayenne peppers (Capsicum frutescens L.), tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.), paprika (Capsicum annuum var. grossum), amethyst (Datura stramonium L.), Turkey berry (Solanum torvum Sw.), and black nightshades (Solanum nigrum L.). The journal search method used in this research is the Boolean System method (AND and OR) using the Google Scholar and Sinta databases. The results obtained from this research were that among the 10 plant species of the Solanaceae family studied, there were 3 pharmacological effects with the most data modes, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant effects.

Abstract

Giving birth is the highest expression of female sexuality, using the same hormones (oxytocin, prolactin, and endorphin. Childbirth and sex are interrelated, and how she experiences the birthing process. Midwives must understand beneficial and detrimental actions during the birthing process, such as reducing negative emotional reactions, and physical reactions mother to pain so that efforts to create physical and emotional comfort are needed. WHO emphasizes patient satisfaction as a means of secondary prevention of maternal death by preventing and reducing the impact of the birth process. The aim of this research was to analyze the effect of birth ball exercises and aroma therapy on maternal progress and satisfaction in labor. This type of research was experimental pre and post-test with a control group design. The sample size in this study was 34 mothers in labor consisting of 17 mothers in the intervention group and 17 mothers in the control group. Analysis using parametric analysis test T-test. Test with degrees of 95% confidence. The results of this study show that there is a difference in the length of time for the first stage in the control and intervention groups, p-value 0.02 0.05. The results of this study show that the intervention group generally felt satisfied with their delivery. In developing midwifery care, we can provide birth ball exercises and orange aroma therapy to speed up the first stage and as a non-pharmacological therapy option that supports pharmacological therapy for mothers in labor.

Abstract

Some pregnant women may experience discomfort in the third trimester due to physiological reasons. Urination, pain in the pit of the stomach, weariness, and pain in the back and waist area are common complaints. A pregnant woman's psychology changed from anxiety and stress to a condition-conceived baby till she was terrified to confront labour. Inconvenience during pregnancy, if not well managed, can cause psychological distress in the mother. Prenatal yoga can help pregnant women who are nervous about their pregnancy overcome their pain. The goal of this review's scoping is to examine the usefulness of deep prenatal yoga in overcoming changes in physiological causes of discomfort in the third trimester of pregnancy. In the article, there is a scoping review. The PRISMA approach is used to identify published articles over the last five years (2019-2023) via ProQuest, SAGE Journal, Science Direct, and Cochrane and produce eight suitable journals. According to the findings, practising yoga during pregnancy can help moms overcome a variety of disruptions or inconveniences that can occur during the third trimester of their pregnancy. Prenatal yoga is a non-pharmacological therapy that can be administered to a pregnant mother in her third trimester to improve sleep quality, reduce anxiety, relieve back pain, and facilitate the process of labour stage II.
