Fokus publishes original research or theoretical papers about teaching and learning in Guidance and Counseling study program of IKIP Siliwangi Bandung on current science issues, namely: Guidance and Counseling educator in elementary, secondary and high school level. Guidance and Counseling observers and researchers. Educational decisions maker on regional and national level. We recommend classroom action research, qualitative, descriptive, or quantitative. We may process manuscript of didactic development research (DDR) or research and development (RnD). Our publication could be research on teaching method, an experiment of teaching aid or media, and even effectiveness of lesson study. We accepted any manuscript derived from research of Guidance and Counseling in Indonesia. We will not process manuscript from research approach of school management.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine how students at SMA Negeri 1 Rongga prepare for their careers by using group guidance and problem solving techniques. The method used is Mixed Methods with the Explanatory Sequential Design design. The data obtained was normally distributed and homogeneous, then data analysis was carried out using parametric statistics via the t-test. The results of the t test and N-Gain test in the experimental group show that the significance value is 0.000. The significance value is less than a = 0.5, indicating that there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest data from the experimental group. This shows that high school students' career planning using group guidance and problem solving techniques produces effective results.

Abstract

Self-confidence means having confidence in one's own ability to act without depending on others, being optimistic, taking responsibility for one's actions, being polite in interacting with others, and realizing one's own strengths and weaknesses. Group guidance provides many benefits for students because they are indirectly actively involved in interactions with other group members. Modeling technique is a technique used to change a person's behavior, cognitive, and affective through the process of observation followed by the process of imitating the behavior of the model displayed. This research method is an experimental method with one group pretest-posttest. The population in this study were VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Parongpong, totaling 82 students with 10 subjects. Sampling using purposive sampling. The results showed that the level of self-confidence increased after participating in group guidance services with modeling techniques as indicated by the results of the calculation of the Pretest average of 127.7000 and Postest of 165.8000 using Paired Samples Statistics and the significance level (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05 which means that modeling techniques in group guidance are effective in increasing self-confidence.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing group guidance services using modeling techniques from the aspect of improving student career planning. The research method used was a Mix Method with a Sequential Explanatory Design. The sample used class XI MA Al-Qomariah students with a total of 27 students, 6 students in the experimental class and the rest in the control class. Data collection is through non-test instruments in the form of interviews and observations, and test instruments in the form of RIASEC test questionnaires. Statistical data processing using SPSS is seen from the parametric t-test calculation with the research results obtained by a t value of -1.004 with a significance (2-tailed) of 0.000 indicating that the alternative test results are accepted which means that career planning after being given group guidance services using techniques modeling is better or more planned than before the service was provided which shows higher questionnaire results and classification

Abstract

Low motivation to learn is still a problem for students at school. One of them is at a high school level. This certainly requires efforts to ensure that it doesn't continue to happen, considering that motivation is something that is very important for students to achieve their goals of success. The aim of this research is to increase students' learning motivation and to measure the effectiveness of group guidance using the WDEP technique. This research took a population of Level The research approach used in this research is quantitative. The effectiveness results of the N-gain pretest and posttest of student learning motivation in the control class were 0.1 in the low category and the experimental class was 1.2 in the high category, the results of the independent t-test were at sig. (2-tailed) is 0.00 < 0.05, which means that the learning motivation of experimental class students is better than the control class. Based on the research results, it shows that the WDEP technique is effective in increasing the learning motivation of Level XI high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of individual counseling using the client-centered technique in improving emotional regulation among fatherless adolescents. Adolescence is a critical stage marked by emotional instability, especially for those who grow up without a father figure. Fatherlessness can trigger emotional issues such as anxiety, anger, and difficulties in social interaction. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method involving a ninth-grade student at SMPN 18 Tangerang who experienced fatherlessness due to parental divorce. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Thematic analysis was used to identify key patterns and emotional themes from the subject’s experiences. The findings indicate that the client-centered technique supported the counselee in recognizing, expressing, and managing emotions more adaptively. After four counseling sessions, the subject demonstrated improved emotional regulation, such as better emotional expression, use of positive coping strategies, and increased learning motivation. This humanistic-based counseling approach proved effective by providing a safe and non-judgmental space, allowing the counselee to explore self-awareness and develop healthier emotional responses. Thus, client-centered individual counseling can serve as a viable intervention strategy to support the psychological well-being of fatherless adolescents.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada upaya untuk mengkaji sampai sejauh mana layanan bimbingan klasikal mampu meningkatkan seberapa jauh pemahaman siswa terhadap perilaku bullying pada siswa di SMA Negeri 2 Indralaya Utara. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif, dengan desain pra-eksperimental berupa one-group pretest-posttest design. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 20 orang siswa yang dipilih secara acak sederhana (simple random sampling). Data dikumpulkan melalui instrumen berupa skala pemahaman mengenai bullying, dan kemudian dianalisis dengan metode statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Temuan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor rata-rata siswa dari 116,10 pada saat pretest menjadi 132,95 pada saat posttest. Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik paired sample t-test, diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000, yang berada di bawah batas signifikansi 0,05. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara pemahaman siswa sebelum dan sesudah diberikan layanan. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa layanan bimbingan klasikal memberikan dampak positif yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan dan kesadaran siswa terkait bullying di lingkungan SMA Negeri 2 Indralaya Utara.

Abstract

Academic stress is a common problem faced by students, especially at the secondary education level. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of group guidance services using snakes and ladders games in reducing academic stress of students in class XI Business Service Office Management (MPLB) at SMK PGRI Pangkalan Balai. The method used in this research is an experiment with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The research sample consisted of 10 students who experienced academic stress. Data were collected through pretest and posttest which were processed by descriptive statistical analysis, normality test, and hypothesis testing using paired sample t-test. The results showed that there was a significant decrease in students' academic stress level, with the average academic stress score decreasing from 85.50 in the pretest to 74.20 in the posttest. The hypothesis test results show a significance value of 0.007 (<0.05), which indicates a significant effect of group guidance with snakes and ladders games on reducing academic stress. This study concludes that group guidance with snakes and ladders game is effective in reducing students' academic stress, creating a fun atmosphere, and increasing students' interaction and involvement in the guidance process which can reduce the academic stress they feel.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur peningkatan intimasi pertemanan pada siswa kelas VII di SMP Indralaya Utara melalui permainan kelompok dalam bimbingan kelompok. Metode yang digunakan adalah pra-eksperimental dengan desain penelitian one-group pretest-posttest. Partisipan pada penelitian ini terdiri atas 12 orang siswa yang dipilih secara purposive sampling dari hasil pretest untuk menciptakan kelompok yang heterogen. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan angket intimasi pertemanan yang diadaptasi dari Sharabany (1994) dengan reliabilitas α = 0,83. Hasil uji paired sample t-test menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan (t = -5,37, p < 0.001). Rata-rata skor meningkat dari 62,75 (pretest) menjadi 98,58 (posttest), dengan persentase kenaikan sebesar 19%. Temuan ini mendukung penggunaan permainan kelompok sebagai strategi pengembangan keterampilan sosial sekolah terutama intimasi pertemanan siswa.

Abstract

The people pleaser attitude is the tendency of individuals to always please others in order to gain acceptance, even if it means sacrificing personal interests. This attitude can negatively impact mental health, self-esteem, and decision-making. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of counseling services using the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) approach with role-playing techniques in reducing the people pleaser attitude.The REBT approach is used to help students recognize and change the irrational thoughts underlying people-pleasing behavior, while role-playing techniques are applied to train the courage to express opinions and set personal boundaries in social situations. The subjects of this research consist of students who have a high tendency to be people pleasers based on the results of the initial assessment. This research is action research in guidance counseling (PTBK) that uses several methods including Planning, Action, Information Gathering, and Reflection. This PTBK research collected data using pre-test and post-test questionnaires (cycle 1 and cycle 2), observations, interviews, and documentation studies. The analysis results showed that group counseling services with the REBT approach and role-playing techniques effectively reduced people-pleasing attitudes in eight students, marked by a change in mindset from irrational to rational, which had a positive impact on their emotional behavior.

Abstract

Time management is an important skill that greatly affects students' academic achievement and personal development. Many students have difficulty managing their time effectively, which results in the habit of procrastinating, academic stress, and an imbalance between academic and non-academic activities. This study aims to explore the application of individual counseling services with a person-centered approach with self-management techniques in improving students' time management skills. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with a subject of a grade XI student of SMA Negeri 7 Jakarta who showed problems in time management. This study is an action research that examines an action that aims to provide solutions, improve abilities, quality and soon. The intervention was carried out in two cycles of individual counseling services that were designed in a structured manner. The results showed that the application of a person-centered approach with self-management techniques was effective in helping students increase self-awareness, design independent study schedules, and reduce the habit of procrastinating. Counselees showed an increase in discipline and ability to determine priorities.
