Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the political and civil literacy of novice voters in preparation for the 2024 Simultaneous Elections in Indonesia. The targets of this community service activity are school students or youth who are at least 17 years old in the year the 2024 Simultaneous Election will be held. Youth were chosen as the main target because they are a group with a large proportion in the 2024 election contestation which will determine the future of democracy. As new voters, they need preparation and a deep understanding of how to participate in the political process effectively to determine the direction and policies of government. For this reason, the Public Administration Department of Universitas Airlangga will partner with the East Java Provincial Education Office which will later provide guidance to the SMAN 1 Giri, Banyuwangi Regency to hold a community service program at the school. Community service activities will involve understanding the political system, democratic processes, political issues, and the importance of active political participation. Activities will be carried out through three main stages: preparation, implementation and evaluation. The preparatory stage involves collecting and compiling relevant political and civic literacy materials. Next, the implementation stage will involve counseling, workshops and group discussions to provide in-depth understanding to novice voters. The evaluation stage will be carried out to measure the effectiveness of the program and obtain feedback from participants. It is hoped that this activity will provide a fundamental contribution in increasing the political and civil literacy of novice voters. With a better understanding of the political system, first-time voters will be able to make good political decisions, participate actively in the political process, and critically evaluate the information they receive.

Abstract

The East Rembang coast is a potential marine fishery commodity producing area, however the buying and selling transaction system is still carried out traditionally, so the bargaining position is still marginal. The social and economic marginalization experienced by fishermen does not manifest in the form of isolation, but rather manifests in the inability of fishing communities to take part in market economic activities profitably. In fact, now we have entered the era of digital buying and selling transactions, which are more efficient and effective, supported by promising infrastructure. Therefore, it is necessary to provide outreach & training in the use of online shops to the fishing community. This community service consists of four stages, namely preparation, implementation, evaluation and monitoring. The object of study is fishing communities who have businesses from three sub-districts in East Rembang. The target is that people are expected to be skilled in using the "SIAB-Marketplace" application in running their business. As a result of service activities, there has been an increase in knowledge and skills in using digital smartphone applications and internet access in marketing the products produced as well as an expansion of the product marketing area, so that it can be used by consumers. The advice given in this activity is that further assistance related to digital marketing should be provided, in this case the use of digital platforms in the promotion and sale of various products so that there is an increase in income which has an impact on people's welfare.

Abstract

Early childhood education (4-6) years is focused on developing creativity in order to create the next generation of problem solvers. The majority of students in the Arena Belajar KIDS learning center tend to overplay on gadgets so that creativity and brain concentration decrease. One solution to break this addiction is to invite students to participate in getting to know nature more closely. This activity aims to increase children's creativity and awareness by cultivating lettuce with the hydro-DFT system. The materials used are lettuce seeds of Lactuca sativa variety, netpot, rockwoll, hydroponic nutrients with a mass ratio (1:5) toward (1:3) on last week. The tools used include water pumps, hoses, TDS & pH meters, and hydro-DFT devices that work with the fertigation system. The final result is the harvest of lettuce after a 30-day planting period with average 19.44 cm plant height, 11.92 number of leaves, and 101.78 gr fresh weight. The harvest was carried out based on the feasibility of lettuce specifications that were fertile above 60%. Lettuce harvest from a total of 20 netpots with the hydro-DFT fertigation system showed 70% cultivation success. The average level of feedback on the program series is very good (4), as evidenced by projects that all goes as schedule and are solutive to partner problems. It is hoped that cooperation with partners will continue so that in the long run it can create independent vegetable gardens in the school or  in the home of each student and teacher.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the tourism industry since its emergence in late 2019. Visitor restrictions have led to a significant decline in activity across various sub-sectors of tourism, and prospective travelers have experienced burnout due to isolation. In such a situation, the digital industry has emerged as a rapid and interim solution. One intriguing digital technology that has garnered attention is Virtual Reality (VR). These efforts have been undertaken to ensure the sustainability of tourism destinations, and VR technology has piqued the interest of potential tourists. Despite its effective role in virtual promotion and learning, particularly for cultural heritage and archaeological sites like the Trowulan Site, stakeholders need to be supported through education on immersive technologies such as VR and their utilization in tourism and education, especially in the field of history. The adoption of VR technology in tourism destinations has experienced significant growth, but issues have arisen due to the lack of Human Resources (HR) related to VR Tourism content creation. As a result, the presentation of VR Tourism experiences has been delayed in terms of content updates, which can have a detrimental impact on the image of the tourism destination, potentially undermining its full potential. Awareness of this issue has been recognized by the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) Ladewa, a stakeholder involved in the management of tourism destinations and travel packages in the Trowulan region. To address this issue, a proposed solution involves training related to VR Tourism and Social Media Content Creation as part of the digital marketing strategy for the tourism destination. This training will primarily focus on tourism themes with a sub-theme of enhancing the capacity of the Tourism Awareness Group (POKDARWIS) LADEWA.

Abstract

The development of nanotechnology in the world is very rapid, and the applications of nanotechnology can be felt in various fields in everyday life. For instance, to control food, nanotechnology plays a role in creating early detection tools for food additives, which are known to be dangerous if consumed by humans in excess, such as the presence of colorants that are not permitted or food additives that exceed tolerance limits. Nanosensors based on screen print electrodes (SPE) are devices that can be used for detection with various notable properties such as fast, sensitive and portable. Seeing the importance of developing and down streaming nanotechnology to society, education regarding the role of nanotechnology needs to be carried out. In this activity, nanotechnology applied in the manufacture of nanosensor devices was introduced, especially to analysts at the drug and food control center and the health service. Apart from that, through this activity, sustainable collaboration can be established between the community service team who are researchers in the field of nanosensors and users in the field who are drug and food regulatory bodies, to develop nanosensor technology according to needs in the field. This activity will be carried out in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, specifically aimed at pharmacists and analysts in the drug and food control center, health service, and industry and trade service (Disperindag). This activity will include education about nanotechnology applications in various fields as well as a demonstration on the use of SPE-based naosensor devices. From this event, in future the analyst may do the analysis in field without waiting long time analysis in laboratory. Abstract

Writing scientific article becomes teachers obligation, because scientific publication is an important requirement for their promotion. In order to awaken and improve teachers' ability to write such publication, the Graduate Program of Literary and Cultural Studies (LCS) Universitas Airlangga conducted community service. This activity took form of training for writing scientific articles by using templates. This training was carried out in the form of delivering lectures and discussions. The team of trainers planned to expand the method in the form of workshop that is by writing practice and consultation at the next community service activity. The participants of this training were high school English teachers in Kediri and Banyuwangi. This activity was carried out separately in the two cities. By conducting this training, we found the enthusiasm of the teachers. The issues uttered for writing articles are also interesting and varied. Their hopes that the training can continue further and be carried out intensively shows that these teachers do need assistance in writing. Besides that, the training activities in these two cities indicates a snapshot of high school teachers in other areas who also need the same training and assistance.
