Abstract

This study was motivated by the low reading proficiency of third-grade students at SDN Lamsayuen, Aceh Besar, creating a need for instruction that accommodates varying student abilities. One such approach involves the "Teaching at the right level" (TaRL) method supported by the use of a "spinning wheel" learning aid. The study aims to examine teacher and student activities during the reading improvement process using the TaRL approach with the spinning wheel aid, and to enhance students' reading skills through the implementation of this method. This research employs Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted over two cycles. The subjects of the study were all 11 third-grade students at SDN Lamsayuen. Data collection techniques included observation and reading proficiency tests, and the data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Results from Cycles I and II showed that teacher activity improved from 63% rated "sufficient" in Cycle I to 90% rated "good" in Cycle II. Student activity similarly improved from 68% sufficient in Cycle I to 93% good in Cycle II. Regarding reading proficiency, 72.72% of students fell into the sufficient category in Cycle I, a figure that rose to 81.81% in the good category by Cycle II. Thus, it can be concluded that implementing the TaRL approach supported by a spinning wheel learning aid effectively improves the reading skills of third-grade students at SDN Lamsayuen, Aceh Besar.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the influence on code-mixing in seventh-grade students' presentations on their self-confidence and formal speaking skills. The study utilized a quantitative methodology that incorporated a survey technique. The sample included all seventh-grade students, while the sample was selected through chosen via intentional sampling. Information was gathered through questionnaires to measure the level of code-mixing and students' self-confidence, as well as an assessment rubric to evaluate formal speaking skills during presentations. The information was examined through both descriptive and inferential statistical methods to determine the association and influence among the variables. The findings indicate that code-mixing in classroom presentations affects students' self-confidence and formal speaking skills. Excessive code-mixing tends to reduce the quality of formal speech, whereas controlled use of code-mixing can help students express their ideas more confidently. Therefore, teachers should guide students to use proper Indonesian in formal situations while maintaining their self-confidence in public speaking.

Abstract

The transformation of madrasah education in Indonesia requires synergy among curriculum autonomy guidelines, deeper cognitive understanding, the strengthening of humanistic character, and technological adaptation. The latest policies of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, particularly KMA No. 450/2024 concerning the Madrasah Operational Curriculum (Kurikulum Operasional Madrasah/KOM), Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education No. 6077/2025 concerning the Love-Based Curriculum (Kurikulum Berbasis Cinta/Pancacinta), and the Madrasah Digital Learning (MDL) initiative, require madrasahs to integrate all of these elements. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of KOM in supporting Science (IPA) learning based on Deep Learning, Pancacinta, and Madrasah Digital Learning at MTs Ma'arif Fatahillah Sindang Anom, as well as to formulate an integrated policy model. The study employs a policy analysis design combined with a qualitative case study using the CIPP Evaluation Model (Context, Input, Process, and Product) and Policy Implementation Analysis. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, document analysis, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and were subsequently analyzed using the data condensation model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña.The implementation of KOM has adopted the fundamental framework of KMA No. 450/2024. However, at the process stage, the integration of Deep Learning has not yet been implemented evenly due to variations in teachers' pedagogical competencies. The Pancacinta values have been effectively incorporated through social and environmental projects within Science learning, while the implementation of MDL has only reached the basic substitution stage of the SAMR model through the Smart Class program. The findings reveal a gap between the ideal regulatory framework established at the national level and the readiness of infrastructure and human resources at the madrasah level. The harmonization of KOM, Deep Learning, Pancacinta, and Madrasah Digital Learning policies has a positive impact on meaningful and character-oriented Science learning experiences, although systematic institutional support remains necessary. As its novelty, this study proposes an Integrated KOM Policy Framework as a reference model for policymakers and educational practitioners in developing an adaptive, humanistic, technology-integrated, and contextually relevant madrasah education system.
