Abstract

ABSTRACK Cognitive ability is one aspect of development that is very important to be stimulated from an early age because it plays a role in forming the ability to think, understand information, and solve various situations faced by children. However, in learning practices, the use of media is still found to be less varied so that the stimulation of children's cognitive abilities has not developed optimally. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using Smart Box media in developing the cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 years at Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Kindergarten, Padang City. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method through a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects were 16 children in group B3. The data collection technique used a test instrument consisting of five indicators of cognitive abilities. Data analysis was carried out using a normality test and a paired sample t-test hypothesis test with the help of SPSS version 27. The results of the study showed an increase in children's cognitive abilities after participating in learning using Smart Box media. The average pretest score of 6 increased to 14.13 in the posttest. The paired sample t-test results showed a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between children's abilities before and after treatment. Thus, the Smart Box media has proven effective in developing the cognitive abilities of 5–6-year-old children at Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Kindergarten in Padang City.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the implementation of the Flipped Classroom model using YouTube videos in fostering students’ religious attitudes in Pancasila Education at MI Muhammadiyah Buntu Barana. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and student reflections. The findings showed that the Flipped Classroom model promoted religious attitudes, including honesty, responsibility, tolerance, discipline, and politeness. The novelty of this study lies in the finding that religious values were internalized through students’ reflective engagement with YouTube content. Another significant finding was the emergence of digital adab (digital ethics) as part of students’ religious character. In addition, a semi-offline flipped classroom approach proved effective in a rural madrasah with limited internet access.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) strategy in Indonesian language learning on speech material at class VIII.1 MTs Negeri 3 Kota Jambi. This research used qualitative descriptive method through field observation on May 19, 2026. Data were collected through observation, field notes, and interviews with the Indonesian language teacher. The results showed that the teacher applied PjBL strategy by dividing students into heterogeneous groups, giving freedom to explore references through gadgets and school libraries, and assessing student competence through speech performance assessment. The learning process ran well and interactively, although time management constraints were found. The application of PjBL in this study is in line with the principle of student-centered learning which effectively stimulates higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and active student involvement. The use of PPT media and authentic evaluation also supported the achievement of learning objectives comprehensively. It is recommended that future learning pay more attention to time allocation and the use of more varied interactive digital media.

Abstract

Badminton is a sport that requires technical, tactical, mental, and physical skills to achieve maximum performance. Physical fitness is a crucial factor because badminton is fast-paced and requires dynamic movements throughout the match. This study aims to determine the importance of physical fitness in badminton, the components of physical fitness required by athletes, and the effect of physical fitness on performance. The research method used was a literature review, collecting data from various books, scientific journals, articles, and reference sources related to physical fitness in badminton. The results indicate that physical fitness significantly influences an athlete's playing ability. Components of physical fitness, such as endurance, strength, speed, agility, flexibility, coordination, and balance, are essential to support athlete performance during competition. Athletes in good physical condition are able to move faster, maintain stamina for longer, produce powerful and accurate shots, and reduce the risk of injury. Furthermore, regular, programmed, and continuous physical fitness training can improve athletes' physical abilities and help them achieve optimal performance. Thus, physical conditioning development should be a major part of a badminton training program.

Abstract

Character education in elementary schools is considered very important today due to problems arising from globalization, increasing digital technology, and the decline of moral values among students. Many previous studies have discussed character education, but only focused on a single perspective. Therefore, research that integrates Pancasila values, local knowledge, school culture, and the use of technology is important to be conducted to help shape students' character. How character education is practiced in elementary schools is examined in this study, aiming to find the challenges and opportunities that emerge with recent changes. Various scientific articles were reviewed using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method discussing character education in elementary schools. Data analysis was conducted directly to find patterns in the results, the implementation methods used, and how character education helps student growth. Research findings show that character education can help develop religious beliefs, discipline, responsibility, tolerance, love of the homeland, social awareness, and environmental understanding. This can be achieved by combining Pancasila values, local knowledge, school culture, extracurricular programs, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI). In addition, more meaningful learning is produced by the use of methods focused on local culture combined with modern technology, efficient, and relevant to students' needs in today's digital world. This study has several limitations as it relies solely on scientific articles for data and does not include direct field observations. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct more research to create real studies on how well technology-based character education and local knowledge work in elementary schools.

Abstract

Maladaptive student behavior is a problem that can hinder students' adjustment, social development, and academic success at school. One factor related to the emergence of maladaptive behavior is low self-control skills. This study aims to examine the forms of maladaptive behavior that can be addressed through self-control techniques, their application in individual and group counseling services, and their effectiveness in reducing students' maladaptive behavior. The study used a literature review method (library research) with data sources in the form of journal articles, books, and relevant research results from the period 2016–2026. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that self-control techniques are used to address various maladaptive student behaviors, including online game addiction, gadget addiction, cyberloafing, bullying, aggressive behavior, off-task behavior, truancy, and alcohol consumption habits. The application of self-control techniques is carried out through the stages of self-monitoring, self-evaluation, goal setting, self-control strategies, and self-reinforcement. In both individual and group counseling, self-control techniques have been shown to effectively improve self-regulation, emotional management, impulse control, and help reduce maladaptive behaviors in students. Therefore, self-control techniques are an effective approach to supporting students' personal, social, and academic development through individual and group counseling services.

Abstract

The low level of critical thinking skills among students in Pancasila Education classes is one of the issues identified in Grade 5 at SD Negeri 111/I Muara Bulian. Students tend to memorize the material and struggle to analyze and connect the information to real-life situations. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model through a regional characteristics scrapbook project and to determine the improvement in the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model. The research subjects consisted of 17 fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 111/I Muara Bulian. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, tests, and documentation, which were then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the study indicate an improvement in students’ critical thinking skills following the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model. The students’ average score in the pre-intervention phase was 62.35 with a mastery rate of 29.41%, which then increased to 84.71 with a mastery rate of 88.24% in Cycle I. The regional characteristics clipping project proved capable of encouraging students to be more active in seeking information, discussing, analyzing the relationship between geographical conditions and community life, and drawing conclusions based on the facts discovered. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model through a project on regional characteristics is effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills in Pancasila Education classes for fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 111/I Muara Bulian.
