Abstract

Stunting Incidence Over the Past Decade with 148.1 Million (22.3 Percent of Children Under 5 Years of Age Worldwide Affected) in 2022. Indonesia is included in the Third Country with the Highest Prevalence of Stunting Cases at 36.4%. The purpose of PkM is to provide health education related to stunting, its causes and prevention. In addition, it also introduced an information system related to stunting calculations. The community service activity was attended by all participants who attended a total of 53 health cadres of the Benda Baru Health Center. Activities still need to have more audience members so that the results are wider and more beneficial. The output of the implementation or solution as an indicator of the success of the program is to ask participants about the material explained during the PkM, namely the definition, causes, impacts, stunting prevention and also about calculations using stunting calculators. PkM is running smoothly. The results of the post-test score have increased compared to the pre-test score. This shows that there is an increase in public knowledge after counseling is carried out. The results of this community service are useful as a contribution of knowledge to Nursing and Public Health Promotion and Education Health Providing knowledge about stunting is expected to make children free from malnutrition and stunting.

Abstract

Aursati Village has considerable potential for the development of Danau Bokuok tourism, yet faces limitations in providing creative local products that reinforce the destination’s identity. The absence of facilities that showcase local characteristics has reduced the area’s attractiveness. This community service program aimed to strengthen tourism through the diversification of local furniture products utilizing wood waste and the natural forms of unproductive durian and rubber tree stumps. The program consisted of four stages: preparation through coordination and scheduling; program socialization and product education; technical training in crafting decorative furniture using local materials combined with resin; and the handover of products to the village for use as tourism support facilities. The results demonstrated improved knowledge, skills, and active participation of the community, particularly village youth, in creative production. The products developed not only offered aesthetic value but also reflected a strong local identity. This program is expected to stimulate sustainable village-based creative enterprises and foster a tourism-driven local economy. Moreover, the activity strengthened community awareness and a sense of ownership in tourism development, ensuring continued contributions and long-term impact.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to empower coffee farmers in Kutambaru Village, Munte District, Karo Regency, by valorizing coffee husk waste into economically valuable cascara products. The problems faced by the partners include the underutilization of coffee waste, limited knowledge of product diversification, and inadequate managerial and marketing capacities. The program was implemented using a participatory approach through socialization, cascara production training, basic business management training, and digital marketing assistance. The evaluation results indicate an improvement in participants’ capacity. At the initial stage, 60% of participants had no prior knowledge of coffee husk valorization and cascara products. After the program, 100% understood the processing stages, and 70% were able to independently practice production. In addition, around 60% of participants demonstrated initial understanding of agroindustry management and digital marketing. The program produced pure and spiced cascara products, along with outputs including a simple business plan, product branding, and digital marketing accounts to support the development of a sustainable community-based agroindustry.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have a strategic role in strengthening the national economy, especially in encouraging real sector growth and community income distribution. However, the use of the Intellectual Property (IP) system as a form of legal protection for MSME products is still minimal. The low understanding of business actors regarding the importance of IP registration, as well as cost constraints and access to information, are the main obstacles. This Community Service (PKM) activity was conducted at the Ar-Rahman Mosque, Hamlet X, Medan Krio Village, Sunggal District, Deli Serdang Regency, to increase public awareness and understanding of the application of IP in MSME products. The implementation method is carried out through lectures and Focus Group Discussions (FGD), which discuss the types of IP, the importance of copyright registration, trademarks, simple patents, and industrial design. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the urgency of legality and legal protection for their business products, as well as the encouragement to legalize and officially register businesses immediately. This activity is expected to be able to strengthen the position of MSMEs in the face of increasingly competitive market competition
