Abstract

This community service program aims to increase adolescents' awareness of sexual and reproductive health rights to support the prevention of early marriage at SMA Negeri 1 Kutalimbaru, Deli Serdang Regency, Indonesia. The program employed a Participatory Action Research approach using a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 50 students. The intervention consisted of health education sessions, interactive discussions, presentation media, educational pocketbooks, posters, and the establishment of Youth Ambassadors as peer educators. Data on participants' knowledge, attitudes, and practices were collected through pretest and post-test questionnaires and analyzed descriptively using frequency and percentage distributions. The results demonstrated substantial improvements across all measured variables. The proportion of participants with good knowledge increased from 16% to 90%, positive attitudes from 18% to 96%, and good practices from 14% to 92%. Following the intervention, no participants remained in the poor category for any of the assessed variables. In addition, five Youth Ambassadors were established to promote the sustainability of peer-led reproductive health education within the school. These findings suggest that a structured and participatory reproductive health education program can effectively improve adolescents' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding early marriage prevention while fostering sustainable peer education initiatives.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve youth health cadres' knowledge and practical skills in oral health promotion through gamification-based education while strengthening their capacity as health education agents within the school environment. The program employed a training-based educational intervention using a one-group pre-experimental pre-test–post-test design involving 50 members of the Youth Red Cross (Palang Merah Remaja [PMR]) at a senior high school. The activities integrated interactive lectures, the Smile Guard Quiz gamified educational video, and hands-on simulation sessions using dental phantom models. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants' knowledge, with the mean score increasing from 51.7 to 80.7, representing a 56.1% increase (p < 0.001). Furthermore, 80% of participants achieved good to excellent practical skill levels, 85% demonstrated active participation throughout the program, and the mean satisfaction score reached 3.5 out of 4. These findings suggest that gamification-based oral health education is associated with improved knowledge and the development of strong practical skills among youth health cadres. This interactive educational approach has the potential to support school- and community-based oral health promotion programs.

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen environmental awareness and community participation through the integration of civic philanthropy and civic responsibility in the implementation of a waste bank program in Kampung Pasir, Cintakarya Village, Garut Regency, Indonesia. The program was implemented in collaboration with the indigenous community of Kampung Pasir using a participatory community empowerment approach over a six-month period. The activities included environmental awareness campaigns, technical training on waste management, the establishment of a waste bank management committee, and continuous mentoring to support program implementation and sustainability. The program was evaluated using a post-test questionnaire administered to 45 participants, complemented by observations, interviews, and documentation. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis. The evaluation results showed an overall achievement score of 82.72% (mean = 3.31 on a 4-point scale), indicating a good level of program effectiveness. The achievement scores for each evaluation dimension were 83.89% for environmental knowledge, 85.56% for civic responsibility, 80.00% for behavioral change, and 81.44% for civic philanthropy, all of which were categorized as good. Furthermore, during the six-month implementation period, approximately 400 kg of economically valuable inorganic waste was collected, eight waste bank committee members were formally appointed, and regular mentoring sessions were conducted to strengthen the program's institutional sustainability. These findings demonstrate that integrating civic philanthropy and civic responsibility into community-based waste bank programs can effectively strengthen community-based waste management, enhance environmental awareness and community participation, and support the long-term institutional sustainability of waste banks within indigenous communities.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the production capacity and operational efficiency of Oemah Rempah Herbal Medicine MSME through the implementation of appropriate technology tailored to the partner's needs. The program adopted a participatory approach consisting of needs identification, technology introduction and implementation, training and mentoring, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive comparative analysis. The results demonstrated that the implementation of appropriate technology had a positive impact on the partner's production process. The use of a high-speed blender accelerated the grinding of herbal raw materials, resulting in a more efficient process and finer particle sizes that enhanced the extraction of bioactive compounds. In addition, the rose burner gas stove improved the efficiency and effectiveness of the herbal cooking process, while the cup sealer produced packaging that was more secure, hygienic, and visually appealing. Overall, the participatory implementation of appropriate technology contributed to improved production efficiency, enhanced packaging quality, and increased production capacity of the Oemah Rempah Herbal Medicine MSME in Sukoharjo Regency.
