Abstract

The Kidztainia 3.0 initiative at SDN Cihuni III was designed as an innovative solution to enhance environmental awareness and sustainable waste management behavior among elementary school students. This program aimed to improve students' knowledge, skills, and commitment towards responsible plastic waste management. Implemented over six weeks at the end of 2023, the initiative involved students, teachers, and community members through three main approaches: (1) interactive narrative-based environmental education, (2) practical skills training in waste sorting and recycling drop-box management, and (3) intergenerational collaboration in environmental clean-up activities. Program evaluation showed a significant increase in students' knowledge regarding plastic types (85% improvement in classification ability) and enhanced commitment to sustainable practices. The success of Kidztainia 3.0, supported by the Pentahelix model (academia, industry, community, government, media), demonstrates the potential of school-based service-learning programs in supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 and SDG 12, and provides a replicable model for other urban school contexts.

Abstract

The PKK (Family Welfare Movement) mothers of KBU Village have been producing an instant herbal drink named "WIRAS" herbal medicine. For over six months of production, the sales volume has remained relatively low, with a monthly turnover of approximately IDR 375,000. This low sales turnover is primarily due to marketing and sales being conducted only on a local scale. Furthermore, the produced items lack home industry permits (P-IRT), which causes them to be considered illegal for sale. This activity aims to provide assistance in obtaining permits and improving managerial systems related to marketing, enabling wider product distribution both offline (direct sales) and online (digital marketing). The methods employed include assisting with business permit applications, marketing training, and guidance in creating social media and marketplace accounts. The outcomes of this activity are the issuance of P-IRT for the products and an increase in monthly turnover from IDR 375,000 to IDR 1,815,000.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal discomfort is a common problem among adults, especially those living in mountainous areas. If left untreated, this condition can lead to long-term musculoskeletal diseases. This community service program aims to increase public awareness and understanding of the importance of preventing musculoskeletal disorders through the implementation of proper physical stretching exercises. The methods used in this program include community education on the physical activities needed to prevent muscle and joint problems, consultations, and stretching practices supported by community assistance. By involving health workers and community leaders, this program provides counseling and training on six types of static stretching. As a result, there was a significant increase in the community's understanding and ability to demonstrate effective stretching techniques. The community also showed active involvement in raising awareness about the importance of musculoskeletal health and successfully implementing strategies for the prevention of muscle and joint diseases. Through a holistic approach involving community leaders and local health workers, understanding of musculoskeletal disorders increased, leading to a positive impact on the quality of life for the community, especially in highland areas.

Abstract

The agricultural and fisheries sectors in Wukirsari Village remain primary economic drivers. However, traditional fisheries management leads to inconsistent catfish and tilapia harvests and high feed costs, hindering Gapoktan Makaryo Nyoto from maximizing profits. The open-air location of the aquaculture development offers significant potential for utilizing sunlight to generate electricity. This study implements a Solar Power Plant (SPP) as a power source for aerators installed in biofloc ponds. The installation, operation procedures, maintenance, and repair of the SPP were socialized to Gapoktan Makaryo Nyoto members. The installed SPP successfully powered a 100W, 220V aerator, supplying oxygen to three biofloc ponds. Increased oxygen supply is expected to support fish growth. By the end of the program, Gapoktan Makaryo Nyoto members were proficient in operating and utilizing the SPP, leading to improved fish harvests and quality. Additionally, surplus power from the SPP was used for lighting the pond area.

Abstract

The Project for Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile and Rahmatan Lil Alamin Student Profile (P5-PPRA) learning program has been declared a mandatory program within the Merdeka Curriculum. However, teachers at Aisyiyah Early Childhood Education (PAUD) in Gatak District lack adequate understanding of it. The objective of this community service activity was to enhance Aisyiyah PAUD teachers' understanding of the P5-PPRA learning program. The methods used included lectures, question-and-answer sessions, and discussions. After participating in the socialization, participants' knowledge and understanding of the concepts, principles, and benefits of P5-PPRA increased from 58.13% to 90.69%. This improved understanding equips Aisyiyah PAUD teachers with sufficient preparation to implement the P5-PPRA learning program in the classroom. Mastery of the P5-PPRA learning program is expected to improve the quality of Aisyiyah PAUD education.

Abstract

Uncontrolled proliferation of cancer cells is the underlying cause of cancer in patients. This community service aimed to enhance cancer patients' knowledge and understanding of pain management using an autogenic relaxation technique incorporating specific movements and guided suggestions. The method involved demonstrations and health education sessions. This activity was attended by 30 cancer patients aged >18 years undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy. The study results indicated a 37.3% improvement in the participants' knowledge and understanding of the provided pain management education, increasing from 50% to 87.3%. The application of autogenic relaxation techniques effectively reduced pain intensity, and patients demonstrated increased independence in performing these techniques. Consequently, the quality of life for cancer patients undergoing treatment can be optimized.
