Abstract

Given paddy's status as a staple commodity and primary livelihood in Slogoretno Village, frequently experiencing yield reductions due to pest attacks, this community service activity aimed to educate and implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) through the planting of refugia plants. The program involved the socialization of local-based refugia concepts, practical planting of perimeter refuge patterns on paddy demonstration plots, and the initiation of agrotourism. The results showed a significant increase in farmers' and the community's knowledge regarding ecological engineering techniques using flowering plants for paddy pest control. Furthermore, these demonstration plots have the potential to become agrotourism objects, which is expected to enhance local welfare and sustainably boost harvest productivity. The implementation of refugia affirms its effectiveness as an IPM innovation supporting sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in inclusive and sustainable economic development. Despite the significant potential of the digital economy to enhance market access for MSMEs, the optimal utilization of technology among these businesses remains limited. Motion graphics, as a popular animation technology in digital promotion, offer a solution that is relatively easy for MSMEs to learn and implement. This program is designed to enhance the application of appropriate technology in empowering MSMEs through the utilization of motion graphic-based promotional videos, with the ultimate goal of increasing sales. The implementation method of this PkM program employs a participatory approach encompassing needs identification, intensive training, and continuous mentoring stages. Evaluation results indicate a significant increase in the understanding and skills of MSME participants, with an average score increase of 4.82. Thus, motion graphic-based promotional video training proves effective in improving the digital capacity of MSME actors, potentially serving as a strategic solution to address the limited utilization of digital promotion technology and drive their economic growth.

Abstract

Banyuwangi Regency is a potential area for developing freshwater fish farming businesses in Indonesia. One of the fish farming groups is Santri Fish Farm, located in Tambong Village, Kabat District. This group cultivates tilapia for consumption and koi as ornamental fish. Feed is a crucial factor supporting successful cultivation, but high feed costs, reaching 30–70% of the total production cost, are a major obstacle in this endeavor. Therefore, this activity aims to enhance the self-reliance of fish farmers in utilizing local raw materials as alternative feed, such as fish meal, snail meal, and water hyacinth. The activities began with the preparation of tools and feed raw materials, training on formulation development, practical feed production, and evaluation. The response to the produced feed showed excellent results. Meanwhile, evaluation results indicated a 50% increase in participants' understanding and skills in formulating local-based feed.
