Abstract

Dyspepsia is common digestive disorder that can significantly impact a patient's quality of life, particularly in individuals with comorbid conditions. Lifestyle factors, stress, and the use of various medications can contribute the onset of symptoms. One important aspect to consider is drug interactions, especially in elderly patients undergoing polypharmacy. This study aims to analyze drug usage patterns and identify potential drug interactions in patients diagnosed with dyspepsia and comorbidities. The research employed a non-experimental observational design using a retrospective descriptive method. Data were collected from inpatient medical records at Hospital X in Majalengka Regency, involving patients diagnosed with dyspepsia and accompanying illnesses. The profile dyspepsia patients with comorbidities in the inpatient unit of Majalengka Regional Hospital in 2024 was: the highest number patients were aged 46-55 years (24 patients, or 29%), and the highest number of patients were female (63 patients, or 78%). The most common single drug used for dyspepsia was ranitidine (14 cases, 87.50%). The most common two-drug combination was ranitidine and sucralfate (9 cases, 25.00%), and the most common three-drug combination was sucralfate + ranitidine + domperidone (12 cases, 37.50%). Drug interactions, based on severity, were classified as minor (32 cases, 96.97%), and moderate (1 case, 3.03%).

Abstract

The skin, as the largest organ of the body, serves a protective function and requires care to maintain its moisture and hydration. Sleeping mask gels are among the most effective nighttime skincare products, as they provide maximum hydration during sleep, have a texture that spreads easily, offer a cooling sensation, and can release active ingredients gradually. Aloe vera is widely recognized as an active cosmetic ingredient due to its content of flavonoids, saponins, and lignin, which help to moisturize the skin. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of varying concentrations of Aloe vera extract on the physical stability of sleeping mask gel formulations. Stability tests were conducted on days 0-28. Three gel formulas were prepared, each containing 0.75% carbopol 940. The results showed that F1 met stability criteria for organoleptic properties, spreadability, adhesiveness, and homogeneity, although changes in pH and viscosity occurred from day 7 to day 28. Statistical analysis indicated significant differences (p < 0.05) in viscosity among the formulas, while F1 showed no significant differences (p > 0.05) in spreadability and adhesiveness and maintained good consistency up to day 14. Based on these findings, F1 was considered more stable compared to F2 and F3.

Abstract

            Gaya hidup era modern yang cenderung tidak sehat serta  keadaan lingkungan yang semakin banyak polusi menyebabkan pembentukan radikal bebas pada tubuh. Untuk melindungi tubuh dari radikal bebas maka dibutuhkan antioksidan yang cukup. Antioksidan alami dapat diperoleh dari ekstrak bunga telang dan biji kopi. Kombinasi dua atau lebih tanaman yang mengandung senyawa antioksidan dimungkinkan menghasilkan potensi aktivitas antioksidan yang lebih tinggi sehingga dapat mengatasi radikal bebas dengan lebih cepat.  Penelitian ini bertujuan melakukan standarisasi ekstrak dan penentuan  kombinasi ekstrak greenbean robusta dan ekstrak bunga telang  yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan paling tinggi. Standarisasi ekstrak dilakukan baik spesifik maupun non spesifik. Uji aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil) pada ekstrak tunggal, ekstrak kombinasi dengan variasi perbandingan ekstrak bunga telang dan ekstrak greenbean robusta  2:1, 3:1, dan 4:1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak bunga telang maupun greenbeen robusta memenuhi standarisasi spesifik maupun tidak spesifik, kecuali kadar air pada ekstrak greenbeen robusta. Aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak bunga telang kombinasi ekstrak greenbean robusta, dari 3 variasi konsentrasi perbandingan 3:1 menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan terbaik dengan nilai IC50 16,60 ± 4,3 μg/mL.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease with increasing prevalence globally. The prevalence of diabetes mellitus in the Special Region of Yogyakarta was 23.3% in 2022 and increased to 64.8% in 2023, with 17,050 sufferers in Sleman Regency. This high prevalence increases the risk of cardiovascular complications and increases the cost of treatment, which adds to the overall economic burden. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of respondents, the profile of antidiabetic drugs, and the minimum cost of antidiabetic therapy for inpatients with diabetes mellitus and hypertension at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital. The study was conducted using a descriptive design with retrospective secondary data collection from the medical records section for the period January-July 2024. Cost data were analyzed using the Cost Minimization Analysis (CMA) method. The results showed that the majority of patients were women aged 55–65 years with BPJS coverage. The most common single therapy was insulin novorapid flexpen (8 patients), while the most common combination therapy was metformin and novorapid flexpen (4 patients). The minimum therapy cost is Rp. 3,286,700 with the combination therapy group of insulin lantus and novorapid.

Abstract

The bark of the sengkuang Dracontomelon dao (Blanco) Merr & Rofle stem contains secondary metabolites alkaloids, saponins, tannins, flavonoids and triterpenoids which are efficacious as anthelmintics. This study aims to formulate, physically evaluate and test the effectiveness of sengkuang stem bark ethanol extract syrup as anthelmintic against chicken roundworms (Ascaridia galli). The syrup preparation was formulated in 3 variations of extract concentrations i.e 0.2%; 0.4% and 0.6%. The syrup was physically evaluated in the form of organoleptic tests, pH, displaced volume and specific gravity.  Inserting 5 chicken roundworms into each test solution i.e 0.9% NaCl (negative control), 0.5% mebendazole (positive control), sengkuang stem bark syrup 0.2%, 0.4%, and 0.6%. It was incubated at 37°C and the time and number of worm deaths were observed every 1 hour for 24 hours. The results showed the sengkuang bark ethanol extract syrup (0.2%; 0.4% and 0.6%) met the requirements in syrup preparations with brownish yellow, brownish orange and brown colors, distinctive aroma and sweet taste; pH ± 6; displaced volume ± 97-98% and specific gravity ± 1.2. All sengkuang bark ethanol extract syrup formulations had the ability to kill 100% of worms with LT50 values ​​of 11.40 hours; 10.33 hours and 6.87 hours.

Abstract

Excessive free radicals (Reactive Oxygen Species/ROS) can trigger oxidative stress, which contributes to various degenerative diseases. Antioxidants from natural ingredients, such as Dayak onion (Eleutherine bulbosa (Mill.) Urb.), are known to contain flavonoid and phenolic secondary metabolites that have the potential to ward off free radicals. Dayak onion bulbs were extracted with 96% ethanol, then analyzed for flavonoid and phenolic content using phytochemical analysis and confirmed with TLC using quercetin and gallic acid. Antioxidant activity was tested using the DPPH method. Ethanol extract of Dayak onion contains flavonoids and phenolics based on TLC results showing a flavonoid Rf value of 0.93 (close to quercetin 0.86) and phenolic Rf value of 0.93 (different from gallic acid 0.37). Antioxidant activity testing yielded an IC₅₀ value of 106.18 ppm (moderate category), while quercetin had an IC₅₀ of 9.94 ppm (very strong category). Ethanol extract of Dayak onion was found to contain flavonoids and phenolics detected through phytochemical and TLC tests, and had moderate antioxidant activity based on the DPPH test. These findings support the potential of Dayak onion as a natural source of antioxidants for the prevention of oxidative stress.

Abstract

Ekstrak etanol mesokarp semangka (Citrullus lanatus (Thunb) dan buah tomat (Solanum lycopersicum L.) mengandung Flavonoid berperan sebagai tabir surya kimia yang menyerap sinar UV. Tabir surya melindungi kulit dari paparan sinar matahari dengan meyerap dan memantulkan sinar matahari. Tujuan diformulasikan sediaan krim kombinasi ekstrak etanol mesokarp semangka dan buah tomat untuk mengetahui efektifitas tabir surya berdasarkan nilai SPF, %TE dan %TP. Sediaan krim tabir surya kombinasi ekstrak etanol mesokarp semangka dan buah tomat diformulasikan dalam F1 (0:0); F2 (10:0); F3 (0:10); F4 (5:5); F5 (6:4); F6 (4:6) dan F7 (kontrol positif). Uji efektifitas tabir surya menggunakan Spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 290-375 nm, serta evaluasi sediaan mutu. Evaluasi sediaan krim menghasilkan sediaan homogen, pH berkisar 5,1±0,09–7,5±0,12, daya sebar berkisar 5,1±0.12–6,9±1,31 dan viskositas berkisar 9.333±471,40– 46.666 ± 942,81 cps serta didapat tipe emulsi m/a. Nilai SPF tertinggi didapat pada 1000 ppm yaitu F1 (0,35); F2 (3,56); F3 (3,04); F4 (3,04); F5 (4,59); F6 (3,13) dan F7 (9,57) nilai %TE dan %TP yang baik diperoleh konsentrasi 1000 ppm pada F5 yaitu %TE (0,312) dan F6 untuk %TP (0,215) masuk kategori sunblock. Sediaan krim memenuhi persyaratan evaluasi sediaan mutu, nilai SPF tertinggi terdapat pada F5, nilai %TE dan %TP efektif sebagai tabir surya.

Abstract

Stunting is a problem that has become a national concern in Indonesia. stunting can not only reduce the quality of human resource (HR) in Indonesia but also can threaten the nation’s competitiveness (Simamora, 2021). Based on Basic ealth Research Data the national stunting prevalence rate in 2021 is 244% (Kemenkes, 2022). The aim of tis research is to describe the behavior of pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers towards “Mom is Hero” calendar. The research method uses a pre-experimental method with a One Group pretest-posttest design. Then the data was analyzed using the Pair t-test. In this study the t significance result for the variables of attitude, subjective norms and preceived behavioral control were 0.000.

Abstract

Liquid bath soap is widely used as an antiseptic in daily activities, but its generally high pH can erode the skin’s protective barrier and reduce comfort. Saponification is the reaction between a strong base and fatty acids. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), which contains lauric acid, is known for its antibacterial properties. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of VCO-based liquid soap and compare its antibacterial effectiveness against two structurally different bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The research employed a post-test only experimental design with descriptive-quantitative data collection. The stages included organoleptic evaluation, pH measurement, viscosity, specific gravity, and foam height testing. Only samples that fulfilled standard soap characteristics were further tested using the Kirby-Bauer diffusion method. Results showed that the soap met physical requirements, exhibiting a liquid texture, gray color, vanilla aroma, pH 7.08, viscosity of 1370 mPas, specific gravity of 1.01 g/mL, and foam height of 2 cm. The neutral-pH VCO soap demonstrated antibacterial activity against both S. aureus and E. coli. Statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney test yielded an Asymp.Sig value of 0.083, indicating no significant difference between the antibacterial effects, suggesting broad antibacterial coverage. These findings support the potential of VCO soap for daily hygiene.

Abstract

Ulkus diabetik merupakan infeksi berat dari komplikasi diabetes melitus yang memiliki risiko amputasi. Dalam penanganannya, antibiotik memegang peranan penting. Namun, apabila penggunaannya tidak sesuai indikasi atau dosis, hal ini dapat memicu peningkatan resistensi bakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan memberikan gambaran mengenai pola pemakaian antibiotik pada pasien ulkus diabetik yang dirawat di Instalasi Rawat Inap RS X Semarang. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan ATC/DDD serta DU 90%. Desain penelitian yang dipakai adalah studi observasional deskriptif dengan pengambilan data secara retrospektif. Data diambil dari pasien rawat inap selama periode Januari sampai Desember 2024 yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi maupun eksklusi. Hasil menunjukkan ceftriaxone merupakan antibiotik dengan tingkat penggunaan tertinggi, yakni 9,81 DDD per 100 hari rawat inap. Sementara itu, berdasarkan analisis DU 90%, antibiotik yang paling dominan digunakan berada dalam kelompok ceftriaxone, metronidazole, levofloxacin, ampicillin-sulbactam, dan meropenem.
