Abstract

The political empowerment program aims to increase public awareness of politics, particularly for first-time voters in the 2024 simultaneous regional elections in Sesetan village, South Denpasar district, Bali province. Political empowerment focuses on efforts carried out by those with access, to information, and the capability to formulate policies for others who must be involved in the implementation of those policies. Political education is the key to empowering young voters, particularly those belonging to Generation Z (Gen Z). The method used in this community service involves several stages, consisting of three phases: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The preparation phase includes problem identification, determination of empowerment targets, coordination with internship partners, and implementation planning. The implementation phase involves pre-test data collection, the execution of political empowerment activities, and post-test data collection following the political empowerment. The evaluation phase includes activity evaluation based on the pre-test and post-test results, the development of frameworks suitable for the empowerment targets, and the preparation of output frameworks to be provided to partners capable of implementing these frameworks. Two main issues were identified: the low awareness of participating in electoral activities such as becoming election supervisors, and the lack of political knowledge about distinguishing political hoaxes related to elections. The findings revealed that the low participation awareness is due to the lack of exposure to informal political education outside of formal education, as well as the minimal literacy education on how to utilise gadgets to select reliable sources of political information.

Abstract

One way to design interactive learning is by utilising digital applications or websites that provide media creation services. By utilising sites that provide digital-based media creation services, students' interest in participating in the learning process increases and the teaching and learning process becomes more interesting. One platform that offers interactive game-based media creation is the Wordwall platform. The Wordwall educational game is a website-based application that can be used as a learning medium with interactive game features. This training was chosen because the Wordwall platform has been proven to increase student interest, motivation, and learning outcomes. Thus, the community service team held training on creating interactive game-based media using the Wordwall platform to improve the digital skills and abilities of elementary school teachers. The purpose of this training is to train teachers in developing interactive game-based media using the Wordwall application. The target in this study was 14 teachers at SDN 15 Cakranegara. The stages of implementing community service activities are the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage. The results of this community service are that teachers are very enthusiastic about this interactive learning media development training because of the need for teachers to improve the learning process in the classroom. Overall, interactive game-based media training using the Wordwall application is the right step in improving the skills of elementary school teachers in creating innovative and effective learning media. With the right support and guidance, teachers can leverage this technology to improve the quality of learning, which will ultimately have a positive impact on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Darul Iman is an Islamic boarding school located in Tanjung Sari Village, Natar District, South Lampung, which is the area around the Rejosari coconut factory. The coconut factory produces waste, one of which is coconut fibre. Coconut fibre can be reused and has a big opportunity to improve the surrounding community's economy, who generally work as farmers and casual daily workers at the factory. This community service activity aims to provide technical knowledge and skills to students in utilising coconut waste into environmentally friendly recycled products to be distributed back to the surrounding community or implemented themselves. The method used in this PkM activity consists of several stages, namely education on processing waste into coco fibre and how to make the product, then continued with technical guidance on making environmentally friendly recyclable products in the form of doormats and brooms. The effectiveness of PKM activities is evaluated by carrying out a pretest and posttest. The evaluation results show that the average posttest percentage score is 90%, getting a score of more than 70, this indicates that there has been an increase in technical knowledge and skills related to making environmentally friendly recyclable products from coconut fibre waste among the Darul Iman Islamic Boarding School students.

Abstract

Community Service (KKN) activities in the village have become important in preventing stunting in children. Various interaction and instruction activities have been carried out to strengthen the community's awareness of the main nutrition in children, especially in the first 1000 days of life. The method carried out regarding stunting is by conducting offline seminars while providing knowledge about stunting and also participating in preventing stunting, namely through the integrated health post (Posyandu). KKN has educated the community about the meaning of stunting, its characteristics, and its impacts. The speaker from one of the KKN students from the Guidance and Counseling department has explained stunting and how to prevent it and conducted a question and answer session to strengthen the community's awareness of the main nutrition in children. KKN activities also focus on the role of parents, especially in empowering mothers by providing knowledge about MPASI (Complementary Foods for Breast Milk) and the importance of providing additional food for toddlers. This aims to reduce the number of stunting in Benteng village. Stunting counselling activities in the village involve health checks from the Integrated Health Post (Posyandu). This aims to strengthen the awareness of the community's insight into the main nutrition in children and how to prevent it. Thus, KKN activities in Benteng village have played an important role in increasing public awareness of stunting and its prevention and reducing stunting rates in the area.

Abstract

The partner in this community service activity is the Jaya Farmer Group in Nitakloang Village, Nita District. This group was formed in 2021 according to the decree of the Head of Nitakloang Village. The Jaya Farmer Group has had 11 members since its formation. The results of a survey conducted by the PKM team found. The problems faced by partners in carrying out corn farming are the lack of knowledge and skills of farmers in carrying out post-harvest handling so that when production results are high, farmers experience difficulties in handling which results in damage to corn commodities. The solution to this problem in the Jaya Farmer Group is through mentoring and training on post-harvest handling of corn. Method: A more effective extension method is needed for farmers to accept and implement post-harvest technology. One extension method that is considered quite effective is the demonstration extension method. Demonstration method showing a new way of working or a method that has been improved. The technological transformation process will be easy with this dem car method because the farmer's senses are focused on what is being demonstrated.

Abstract

Karya Mekar is a farmer group in Fataatu Village, Wewaria District, Ende Regency. This farmer group is a rice seed measuring group that participates in daily rice cultivation activities. The group, founded in 2010 and has 22 members, has various problems regarding rice cultivation and its group. The issues faced include a lack of knowledge of organic fertilizers, organic pesticides, pests on rice plants, group management, and marketing. These problems were increasingly felt by group members at the end of 2023 when the climate change phenomenon had a greater impact. The biggest impact of this phenomenon is that the rainy season changes, brown planthopper pests are increasingly attacking rice plants, plants die, production is low, and the price of grain and rice is increasingly expensive on the market but low at the farmer level. Community service activities have been carried out to overcome these problems. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge of farmer group members and be able to efficiently overcome the difficulties experienced. This community service activity was carried out using the extension method, and to measure the success of the extension activity, a pre-test and post-test were carried out. The results of the pre-test and post-test were assessed by percentage and displayed in the form of a graph. Extension on organic fertilizers showed an increase in knowledge of members of the Karya Mekar farmer group by 93%, organic pesticide extension by 90.9%, pest extension on rice plants showed an increase in knowledge by 83.6%, group management extension 84.5% and marketing management extension 85.5%. The increase in group knowledge shows the success of the implementation of community service activities. The follow-up plan for the future is to make a demonstration plot location to practice all the knowledge that has been learned and the measurement of heavy metals in the soil and rice produced by group members.
