Abstract

A community service program (PKM) aims to improve children's mastery of English vocabulary related to the culinary world at the Naungan Kasih Ende Orphanage. The program was implemented through three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The preparation stage includes Observation, Coordination with the orphanage, Preparation of training materials, and Preparation of learning media. The implementation stage, a hands-on learning experience, involves giving a pre-test, introducing and explaining basic culinary English vocabulary, having game sessions, doing writing and speaking practice activities, and practising cooking. The evaluation stage includes a post-test, evaluation of program effectiveness, collection of feedback, and preparation of reports. Through this PKM program, it is hoped that the orphanage children can improve their mastery of English vocabulary in the culinary field, which can help them learn, prepare to enter the world of work in the culinary industry and motivate them to continue developing their culinary-related English skills.

Abstract

Making silage feed in Yasa Mulya Village involves 30 farmers participating in a structured training program to increase their knowledge and skills in producing quality feed. The methods applied include initial preparation and planning, opening of training sessions, delivery of theoretical material, direct practice, group discussions, and evaluation of results. In the opening session, farmers were introduced to the importance of silage as nutritious animal feed, followed by material on grass-cutting techniques, EM4 mixing, and effective storage processes. Hands-on practice provides real experience in making silage, while discussions allow exchanging ideas and solutions to the challenges faced. Through evaluation, participants can assess their understanding and formulate necessary follow-up actions for the application of the techniques learned. It is hoped that the results of this training can increase livestock productivity and support the sustainability of livestock businesses in Yasa Mulya Village

Abstract

Daycare centres (TPA) play an essential role in supporting mothers in caring for their children, especially for working mothers. Daycare centres are one of the alternatives for mothers to replace their role in caring for their children while they are at work. However, TPA is often a place where the transmission of infectious diseases such as diarrhoea, respiratory infections, and other diseases occurs quickly due to close interaction between children. Therefore, preventing the transmission of infectious diseases in TPA is an important step to prevent stunting. In addition, monitoring of children's growth has yet to be done routinely in the TPA. The purpose of this community service is to increase knowledge for mothers and landfill managers in preventing transmission of infectious diseases and monitoring the growth of toddlers, as well as practical steps in maintaining the personal hygiene of children and the environment and the availability of educational media in the form of posters, leaflets and videos. The targets of the service are mothers of toddlers and landfill managers. The service method provides education, distributes hygiene tools, and provides educational media, namely posters, leaflets, and videos. The evaluation was carried out by distributing questionnaires before and after counselling. The service results showed increased knowledge of mothers of toddlers and landfill managers. The results of growth monitoring show that participating toddlers have good nutritional status and can practice hand washing properly. Although there are obstacles, such as the limited number of participants, this activity positively impacts increasing awareness about stunting prevention. The subsequent development is to expand the reach of education by involving more TPAs and introducing digital monitoring methods through applications to monitor children's growth. Support from relevant agencies is needed to ensure the sustainability of the programme.

Abstract

The need for internet technology in Indonesia has increased significantly, which aligns with the growth of MSMEs. This also happens in the Ende Regency. The development of MSMEs in Ende Regency is rising every year. These MSMEs receive a lot of assistance from several institutions such as the Cooperative and MSME Service, Bank NTT and Rumah BUMN Ende. At Rumah BUMN Ende, training activities are always carried out for MSMEs because the goal of this Rumah BUMN is for MSMEs to go digital and online. The digital platforms used are social media and marketplaces. In the course of using this marketplace, it was found that there was still very little application of storytelling and copywriting to carry out promotions. Copywriting is an important promotion activity. The implementation method of this activity includes the preparation stage, the implementation stage and the evaluation stage. The implementation stage is divided into 3 parts, namely theory, practice and discussion. These results show that of the 47 participants who attended, 100% already understood copywriting and were ready to apply it to the marketplace they had. Copywriting training held at Rumah BUMN Ende positively impacts participants' ability to market their products digitally.

Abstract

During 2023, criminals carried out thousands of cyber-attack cases that harmed the community economically. Losses due to cybercrime worldwide in 2023 reached US $ 8 trillion and there have been more than 361 million cyber-attacks in Indonesia from January to October 2023 according to data from the National Cyber and Crypto Agency. Activities that are often reported and become the main target of cybercrime are online buying and selling which ranks 1st, followed by scamming, fictitious online investment, online work fraud, online extortion, and web phishing. Seeing the large number of victims caught in cyber-attacks, as a form of contribution to the community in the field of technology, we conducted a socialization of cyber security and privacy protection to increase public sensitivity to the dangers of cyber-attacks and prevention tips. The stages of implementation that have been carried out are visitation and licensing, observation and information gathering, making cooperation agreements, preparation of presentation materials, technical preparation, and implementation of socialization. This socialization has also been covered in the Pos Kupang electronic media and received a positive response from all participants.

Abstract

Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor (GMIT) Ebenhaezer Oeba Kupang uses information technology to support its business process. Although the church has social media accounts, they do not yet have a web profile that provides comprehensive information about the church. The reason for this is limited manpower. However, having an active web profile is essential for the church to share information and interact with the congregation and the community at large. To address the issue, it is suggested that the web profile of GMIT Ebenhaezer Oeba be revitalized. This revitalization aims to revive the web profile and add features that provide information and announcements to the congregation. This system can be accessed in real-time using a smartphone, laptop, or tablet connected to the internet. Through this system, the church can provide its identity and disseminate information needed by the congregation in a fast and timely manner.

Abstract

School learning demands an optimal learning experience to fulfill the learning outcomes. At the Senior High School level, several science topics, particularly physics, require simulations to enhance students' understanding. A community service initiative was carried out in the form of training on using TinkerCad electronics simulation software for high school physics teachers in Samarinda and its surrounding areas. This activity aimed to provide physics teachers with alternative teaching media, particularly for the topic of electronics at the high school level. The training was attended by 21 participants and conducted using lectures, demonstrations, and mentoring methods. Based on the interview results, the majority of participants were unfamiliar with the TinkerCad software, making this training a valuable new resource for high school physics teachers in Samarinda and the surrounding regions.

Abstract

Cattle farming in Merauke Regency is still mostly simple, maintained semi-intensively and extensively. Most farmers keep livestock only as savings. Most still depend on nature, especially in the provision of feed, and leave livestock for days in the forest, this will have an impact on the health and productivity of livestock, and this is thought to be one of the causes of the high livestock mortality rate in Merauke Regency by mid-2024. The participation of all parties, including farmers, government and academics, is needed to prevent an increase in mortality due to the outbreak. The exact cause of the massive mortality is not yet known, so educational assistance is required by the community, especially farmers. The method used by the academics, in this case, lecturers and students, is to hold discussions with the farming community in one of the villages that has a large enough cattle population but has not paid attention to maintenance management. The discussion results became a reference for the academic team to develop a socialisation and training programme to solve the problems farmers face. The programme included the distribution of vitamins and dewormers, feed fermentation training, socialisation of manure processing into fertiliser and socialisation of cattle health assessment. The activities were carried out for 6 months, with monitoring and evaluation. The results of this service activity are, that the level of knowledge and understanding of farmers is increasing regarding the need for health care and the application of good management for livestock to increase productivity and reduce the negative impacts that can be caused. Another benefit is the improvement of skills in managing feed ingredients, thus reducing dependence on nature.

Abstract

Breast cancer, a malignant tumor, remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women globally. This is supported by data from the World Health Organization (WHO), which reported nearly 1.7 million new cases in 2012, accounting for approximately 12% of all cancer diagnoses and 25% of cancers in women. By 2010, WHO estimated that breast cancer incidence had reached 11 million cases, and global cancer-related deaths were projected to rise to 27 million by 2030. Early detection of breast cancer is achievable through self-breast examination (SADARI). Without regular self-examinations, breast cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, significantly increasing mortality risk. Early detection can reduce mortality rates by 25–30%. Monthly self-examinations are strongly recommended, and individuals should seek immediate medical consultation if a lump is detected. This practice is critical for public health, including adolescents, as 86% of breast lumps are first identified through self-examination. Increased awareness of SADARI positively influences women’s attitudes and behaviors, emphasizing its role in reducing breast cancer risk. Notably, women in early adulthood are more likely to adopt regular self-examinations to monitor breast health proactively. A community service initiative was conducted to educate 30 participants about SADARI. Knowledge levels were evaluated using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results showed a significant improvement in understanding, with 23 respondents (76.66%) achieving high post-test scores, demonstrating the effectiveness of the educational outreach.

Abstract

Corruption is one of the extraordinary crimes in Indonesia. Corruption is massive and carried out by many people from various levels of power and government. The corrupt behavior of officials has hurt the younger generation, including the students of SMKS Syuradikara. There is a feeling of uncertainty about the bleak future, which is left behind by the current generation. The fate of the younger generation is mortgaged by the greed of corrupt actors who shamelessly take something that is not their right. So what should the younger generation do? What actions should be taken so that the corruption problem no longer eats away at the life of the nation and state? This condition requires strategic and measurable efforts from various parties, such as the Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK), law enforcement officials, state administrators, and various elements of society. The problem of corruption cannot only be addressed with repressive efforts but also through planned and measurable prevention efforts to realize an Indonesia free from corruption. The current corruption emergency requires the formation of character in the young generation of anti-corruption to be able to realize a new Indonesia that is free from corruption. Character formation can be done through cognitive debriefing about corruption and anti-corruption through socialization activities or counseling and habituation of anti-corruption character in the younger generation. If the younger generation (students) is equipped with knowledge about corruption and anti-corruption, then this knowledge can be relied on to shape the character of students. Students become aware of attitudes or actions that are categorized as corruption and begin to get used to applying anti-corruption principles and values in their attitudes and behaviors. If students from an early age understand anti-corruption values, then it will be easy for them to practice those values in their attitudes and actions. Furthermore, if they have become accustomed to living and practicing anti-corruption values and principles in their lives, then they will have legal and ethical awareness not to commit acts of corruption from an early age.
