Abstract

Humanism is a philosophical concept that places a high value on the inherent nature, boundaries, and natural tendencies of human beings, with humans as the central object. Humanism has significant implications in the context of integral Islamic educational institutions because it emphasizes human values, individual potential enhancement, and respect for human dignity. This research aims to provide a comprehensive insight into the relevance and challenges of introducing a humanistic approach in the context of integral religious education, which can help enrich the understanding and implementation of these concepts in Islamic religious education practice. The research method used is a literature review. The results show significant implications of the concept of humanism on integral Islamic education, focusing on the spiritual, intellectual, moral, and social aspects.

Abstract

In welcoming the era of society 5.0, higher education through its tri dharma activities is required to produce graduates who are not only competent in sciences and technologies and their applications, but also have self-confidence in their knowledge and have the capacity for a good attitude. One step to making this happen is by studying personality development courses, such as Islamic religion courses. The focus of this research is to look at the effect of applying game-based learning methods on the interpersonal and intrapersonal skills of students at Putra Sang Fajar Blitar State Community College. The number of samples (n) is 48 from a population (N) of 120 students. Data was collected by questionnaire using Google Form and analyzed using SmartPLS version 3.0 with SEM (Stuctural Equation Modelling) analysis based on the output of the Iner Model and Outer Model. The research results show that there is a significant influence of game-based learning on interpersonal skills (path coefficient = 0.674) and intrapersonal skills (path coefficient = 0.746). This indicated that applying the game-based learning method in Islamic religion courses has a significant influence on interpersonal skills, as much as 67.4% and intrapersonal skills, as much as 74.6%, so the game-based learning method can be applied in personality development courses.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the utilisation of Sparkol VideoScribe by Islamic Education (PAI) teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Empat Lawang in improving student engagement in learning. The background of this research focuses on technological advances that can support the teaching and learning process, where VideoScribe as an innovative tool allows the creation of interactive and visually appealing content. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collection through interviews with PAI teachers and analysis of related literature. The results showed that VideoScribe successfully captured students' attention, especially for those with visual learning preferences, despite challenges such as limited projector availability and unstable internet connectivity. The conclusion of this study confirms that while VideoScribe offers great potential to enhance religious education, it is important to address infrastructure and engagement issues for all students to utilise this technological advancement in their learning experience. The implications of this study indicate the need for further support for the integration of technology in education.

Abstract

The technological revolution has brought significant transformations in various aspects of life, including Islamic religious education. This study aims to analyze the impact of the technological revolution on improving the quality of learning in Islamic religious education in the digital era. The main focus is to explore how digital technology can be utilized to create more effective, interactive, and relevant learning methods to the needs of today's learners. The research approach used is a qualitative approach using the literature study method, where library materials are used as data sources for formulating research problems. The results of the study show that technology integration, such as digital-based learning applications, social media, and e-learning platforms, can increase learner engagement, expand access to learning resources, and encourage the development of 21st century competencies, such as critical thinking and collaboration. However, the study also found challenges such as low digital literacy of educators, limited technological infrastructure, and the potential for misuse of technology.

Abstract

Thinking is the process of reason in getting ideas from knowledge or science. Thinking is a means that can help humans obtain innovation that is in line with the needs in their lives. Therefore, scientific thinking is a proper thing for a human being. Scientific thinking is carried out through how thoughts are created, including using language, definitions, mathematics, and statistics. So the aim of this article is: 1) Knowing the means of scientific thinking, 2) language as a means of scientific thinking, 3) definitions as a means of scientific thinking, 4) mathematics as a means of scientific thinking, 5) statistics as a means of scientific thinking. The method used in this study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with library methods. The results of this research are that humans can develop and create new things, but because of the limitations they have, humans need tools to pursue new things that they want to know, these tools are called scientific thinking tools. Among them are language, a communicative function and a cultural tool that unites people, definitions are used as a practical aspect for constructing theories, mathematics is used as a deductive thinking tool, and statistics helps make generalizations and conclude the characteristics of a phenomenon with more certainty, as well as providing opportunities or probabilities that for certain premises, the conclusions drawn may be true or false.

Abstract

Essentialism is a school of educational philosophy that emphasizes the importance of core values in the educational process. This school emerged as a response to progressivism, which was considered too flexible and less stable. From an Islamic perspective, essentialist education has a strong relevance because it emphasizes the inheritance of noble values, discipline, and stability in learning. Islamic education itself is based on the Qur'an and Hadith, which emphasize the importance of science as well as moral and spiritual character building. This research uses the literature review method to analyze the relationship between the concept of essentialism and Islamic education. The results show that the principles of essentialism can be applied in Islamic education by balancing religious and general sciences. The curriculum must be designed to produce students who are not only academically intelligent, but also have good morals and are able to face the challenges of the times. The role of teachers is very important in guiding students to understand knowledge deeply and apply it in life. Thus, the integration of essential education in Islamic education can produce individuals who are knowledgeable, noble, and ready to contribute to society.

Abstract

Currently, digital platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok have become the main means for students to access, disseminate, and discuss religious information quickly and interactively. Social media presents Islamic content that is engaging, easily accessible, and packaged in a visual format that aligns with the preferences of the younger generation, who tend to favor concise and audiovisual information. This study aims to examine the extent to which the use of social media by students at Universitas Negeri Medan affects their understanding of Islamic teachings. The research was conducted using an associative quantitative approach, employing a questionnaire distributed online via Google Forms to measure the impact of social media usage on students' understanding of Islam. The number of respondents involved was 39 students from various majors and faculties. The results of the data analysis using simple linear regression show that social media usage has a positive and significant impact on Islamic understanding among students, as evidenced by a t-value of 3.509, which is greater than the t-table value of 2.0262, and a significance value of 0.001, which is less than 0.05. These findings reinforce that social media has a significant contribution to enhancing the understanding of Islam among students at Universitas Negeri Medan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the democratic leadership style as a strategic approach to instilling anti-corruption education values. Leadership is considered to have a significant influence in shaping organizational culture and individual behavior, particularly in the field of education. Anti-corruption education is one of the key instruments in the effort to eradicate corruption from an early age, and its success is largely determined by the example set by leaders. This research employs a qualitative-descriptive method based on library research. The findings show that: (1) Democratic leadership promotes active participation, collaboration, and shared decision-making, all of which support the cultivation of integrity values; (2) Anti-corruption education is effectively implemented through open and communicative leadership patterns; and (3) Building an anti-corruption culture requires role models of integrity from leaders and an educational system that consistently instills anti-corruption values on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

The phenomenon of early retirement is alarming and not only affects the quality of education, but also creates a shortage of experienced teachers. This article aims to analyze the main factors driving teacher early retirement, focusing on excessive workload, administrative pressure, low levels of teacher welfare, and the role of government policy in responding to this issue. The results show that high workload, administrative tasks unrelated to teaching, leadership, and lack of support from the school administration are the main causes of early retirement. In addition, low teacher welfare, both physically and mentally, exacerbates the situation. The article concludes that policy interventions that support teacher welfare, workload reduction and school infrastructure improvement are needed to address this issue.

Abstract

The value crisis in contemporary education has become a crucial issue characterized by the weakening of moral orientation, the erosion of teacher authority, and the dominance of flexible approaches that ignore the basic principles of education. Departing from this phenomenon, this research aims to examine the thought of essentialism in Islamic education as a conceptual alternative that emphasizes traditional values, discipline, and a clear curriculum structure. This research uses a qualitative method with a library research approach, which is conducted through an in-depth review of relevant primary and secondary literature. The results show that essentialism in Islamic education emphasizes three main findings: the importance of education grounded in traditional and permanent values; the central role of the teacher as a moral and scientific authority; and curriculum and learning methods that focus on mastering core material and forming discipline. The study concludes that essentialism can provide a more stable, structured and valuable direction for education in the face of the challenges of modernity. Therefore, it is suggested that this essentialist approach be considered in the formulation of Islamic education policy and further developed through empirical research in the realm of practice.
