Abstract

Hypnotherapy is a psychological technique used to help individuals overcome psychological and physical problems through hypnosis. This article aims to explain the basic concept of hypnotherapy, its history of development, stages of implementation, and the benefits and risks of its application in the context of Islamic counseling. The method used in this writing is a literature study with a qualitative approach. The results of the study indicate that hypnotherapy has benefits in increasing concentration, reducing stress, and encouraging more positive behavioral changes, especially in the fields of education and spiritual development. However, there are psychological risks and abuse if carried out by incompetent parties. Therefore, the implementation of hypnotherapy must follow ethical principles and be carried out by professional practitioners. The implications of the results of this study indicate that hypnotherapy can be a relevant alternative technique for use in holistic and value-based Islamic counseling practices.

Abstract

The zoning system policy in Indonesian education was introduced with the spirit of equal access, providing opportunities for students from various backgrounds to receive an education in public schools. However, in its implementation, this system has actually given rise to new problems related to inequality in educational quality. This study aims to analyze how the zoning system affects the gap in educational quality at SMA Negeri 77 Jakarta and examines it from the perspective of Islamic justice. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. Research informants included teachers, students, and parents. All data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively to describe objective conditions in the field, then interpreted using the principles of justice in Islam. The results show that the zoning system has not fully created justice in educational quality. There are disparities in students' academic readiness, learning character, and family support that influence the teaching and learning process. Students enrolled in the zoning pathway tend to face adaptation difficulties, fall behind academically, and receive less support for home-based learning. This inequality stems not only from the students themselves but also reflects a system that treats disparate conditions uniformly. From an Islamic perspective, justice is not about equal treatment, but rather about giving according to the needs and capacities of each individual. Therefore, the zoning system needs to be complemented by affirmative policies such as remedial programs, character development, and collaborative partnerships between schools and parents. Fair education, according to Islam, is not only about providing access but also about ensuring meaningful and equitable learning processes and outcomes for all students.

Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of self-reflection therapy as an effort to increase the learning motivation of adolescents who experience a decline in learning enthusiasm due to family conflict, unstable emotional conditions, and peer influence. The choice of self-reflection is important because low learning motivation impacts achievement and discipline, while self-reflection as an Islamic technique has benefits in fostering self-awareness and improving learning behavior. This study uses a qualitative research method with a case study approach, with data collection through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using comparative analysis and synthesis by comparing the conditions of the client before and after therapy. The results of the study indicate that self-reflection therapy is effective in increasing intrinsic motivation, discipline, self-control, and more directed learning behavior, so that the client becomes more emotionally stable and responsible for their learning process.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of the philosophical approach in the development of contemporary Islamic studies. The rapid transformation of Islamic sciences in the modern era demands an analytical framework that is more reflective and critical, particularly when responding to social dynamics, plurality of thought, and technological advancement. Employing a library research method, this paper explores the epistemological foundations, conceptual scope, and contributions of the philosophical approach by analyzing classical and contemporary literature. The findings indicate that the philosophical approach plays a significant role in broadening the horizons of religious interpretation, strengthening methodological reasoning, and fostering critical awareness in understanding both texts and social realities. Philosophy functions not only as a tool for critique but also as a constructive foundation for formulating an integrative and responsive paradigm of Islamic scholarship, especially in addressing modern issues such as radicalism, gender equality, technological ethics, and global humanitarian challenges. Nevertheless, the use of philosophical approaches still encounters several obstacles, including the tendency toward abstract rationality, limited operational application in fiqh, and resistance from normative-textual traditions. This study affirms that repositioning the philosophical approach in a proportional manner is a methodological necessity for strengthening Islamic studies in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limitations of contemporary human development theories, which predominantly emphasize biological and psychological dimensions while overlooking the spiritual and eschatological aspects essential to the Islamic theological perspective. This gap necessitates a more comprehensive reconstruction rooted in Islamic normative sources and aligned with the needs of modern education. This study aims to reconstruct the concept of the human life cycle from the perspective of Islamic educational theology, identify the stages of life that are relevant to the framework of Islamic education, and explain their implications for Islamic educational practice. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the research integrates content analysis and thematic analysis of primary sources—Qur’an, Hadith, and classical texts—alongside contemporary academic literature. The findings reveal that the Islamic perspective on the human life cycle comprises six interconnected phases: pre-birth, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age, and post-death, all of which relate closely to fitrah, spiritual purification (tazkiyah), cultivation of adab, and eschatological orientation. The study proposes a holistic–transcendental conceptual model grounded in tawhid that strengthens the epistemology of Islamic education and offers a theoretical alternative for the advancement of Islamic educational practice in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the fundamental concept of Islamic culture according to Ali Ahmad Madzkur, analyze its core principles and values, explain the classification and characteristics of Islamic culture from his perspective, and explore the relevance of these ideas to the development of contemporary Muslim society within the social, cultural, and civilizational dynamics of the modern Islamic world. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach to systematically describe and analyze Madzkur’s thought on Islamic culture. Primary data were obtained from Madzkur’s original works, while secondary data were gathered from supporting literature. Data collection was conducted through library research and subsequently analyzed using content analysis through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and presentation to identify the relevance of Madzkur’s ideas for contemporary Muslim society. The findings indicate that Ali Ahmad Madzkur asserts that Islamic culture is rooted in divine revelation and encompasses the values of monotheism (tawhid), ethics, justice, and spiritual-material balance. Islamic culture is dynamic, adaptable to changing times, and categorized into the dimensions of creed, ethics, and knowledge. His ideas are relevant in responding to secular globalization by offering a divine cultural paradigm that remains open to scientific advancement and the development of modern Islamic civilization.

Abstract

From an Islamic viewpoint, the epistemology of Islamic education is a philosophical examination of the nature of knowledge, how it is acquired, and the standards of truth. Islamic education is essential because it emphasizes pupils' moral growth, religious beliefs, and dedication in addition to scholastic achievement. This book intends to examine the epistemology, nature, and objectives of Islamic education in light of the Qur'an. This study, which employs a qualitative approach and a literature study technique, draws its data from books, scholarly articles, and other pertinent scientific journals, all of which are subjected to descriptive and analytical analysis. The study results support the conclusion that Islamic education's epistemology is founded on the integration of revelation and rationality's values in order to create a well-rounded person. The planned, systematic, and ongoing attempt to promote the balanced development of human physical and spiritual potential is what Islamic education is all about. Islamic education seeks to attain happiness in this world and the afterlife by portraying people as God's servants ('abdullah) and vicegerents on earth (khalifatullah). The verses of the Quran that were examined emphasize that the main objective of Islamic education is to please Allah, encourage obedience, promote reverence, and equip people for their social and humanitarian obligations. As a result, Islamic education is a comprehensive and integrated educational system that fosters the growth of cognitive, emotional, and psychomotor skills in accordance with Islamic principles.

Abstract

Classical Islamic education emphasizes the integration of knowledge, ethics, and spirituality, yet modern educational practices often face challenges such as value fragmentation, moral crises, and academic pragmatism. This study aims to describe the concepts of knowledge, teacher, and peer according to Burhanuddin Az Zarnuji in Ta‘līm al-Muta‘allim, analyze the ethical, epistemic, and socio-pedagogical values embedded in it, and explore the relevance of these ideas for contemporary Islamic education. A qualitative library research method with descriptive-analytical approach was employed. Data were collected from classical and contemporary literature, including Ta‘līm al-Muta‘allim, books on Islamic education, and indexed journal articles, and analyzed through content analysis to interpret educational concepts and values relevant to the modern context. The results indicate that Az Zarnuji regards knowledge as a spiritual light requiring sincerity, perseverance, and moral internalization. Teachers serve as mediators of knowledge and ethical role models, while peers and the learning environment support the development of student dispositions and character. Values such as sincerity, humility, discipline, and respect for teachers are shown to be relevant for cultivating holistic, humanistic, and contextual Islamic education. These findings have significant implications for curriculum design, character development, lifelong learning strategies, and reinforcing the integration of knowledge and ethics in modern Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to increase students' awareness of the importance of maintaining their modesty (awrat), a sense of shame (al-ḥayā’), and respecting the privacy of others within the Nurul Chotib Jember Islamic Boarding School environment through an Islamic-values-based psychoeducational approach. Initial observations indicate that some students still habitually leave their rooms without wearing a hijab and open or borrow friends' belongings without permission. These habits are considered normal because they have been passed down from generation to generation from senior students. This study used a descriptive qualitative method using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques with 42 junior high school (SMP/MTs) students. Psychoeducation was implemented through material delivery, discussions, case studies, and reflections that integrated Quranic verses, Hadith, and the concept of Islamic etiquette. The results showed an increase in students' understanding and behavioral changes after participating in the psychoeducational activities, particularly in terms of discipline in wearing the hijab, asking permission before borrowing items, and reminding each other about etiquette and social etiquette. Psychoeducation has been proven effective in fostering moral awareness by instilling spiritual meaning and Islamic values behind Islamic boarding school rules. This research is expected to serve as a basis for developing more sustainable and contextual character development programs for students in Islamic boarding school environments.
